I always thought it a little strange for making fun of a person’s height. That isn’t something that a person can change like the color of one’s skin or if one had a limp. Surprising that Elliott’s and Blake’s heights (who are even shorter) aren’t made fun of.

Not being tall myself and coming from a family of 6′ and above, I’ve always had a sense of humour when it comes to height jokes.

Okay – you know every now and then I have to post something sappy. I can’t help it. I was watching Elliott last night and remembering his mom’s interview on AI. It was on the 4th of July when Elliott was a teenager that he became so ill and they diagnosed his diabetes. Er…news…okay, rumour…I saw a clip of some of the Idols at a concert they went to and the performer (Dan Band) asked Gina what she was going to sing on tour. She said Pink’s “Who Knew”. Chris R said he was going to sing “Bohemian Rhapsody”, but it seemed to be a joke.

I didn’t like Gina on the show (don’t ask me why, I just didn’t), but I’ve fallen in love with her ISBY from the studio recordings. She sang a bit on the youtube clip too and she sounded amazing.

I was strongly encouraged…to do an album of covers…I guess the argument against that would be I don’t have the reputation that Rod Stewart has…the credibility…so there’s no reason for me to do them.

The guy has a great set of pipes with temendous potential to be more than a cookie cutter balladeeer, if he works with the right people. I give him props for staying professional throughout the process of creating something he knew wasn’t the right thing. I can’t detect an ounce of rancor or bitterness.

And he’s still the wittiest finalist the franchise has ever delivered.

One year ago today nine Season 5 American Idol finalists had their national concert tour debut.

It was quite a night, and much of the “definitive record” of the evening, if not the entire 2006 tour, is MJ’s marvelous videos from Manchester on July 5 and 6.

Most have them have had success exceeding what we imagined at the time, especially Elliott, Chris, Bucky and Kellie.

I recently got my hands on Taylor’s audio book (don’t have the hardcover copy yet) and there he makes brief mentions of Elliott, Chris, Katharine and Paris Bennett. Don’t want to give away any of the content, but he did mention that there were times on the bus during the AI tour when things got ‘rather tense’ between him ‘one’ of the mentioned people. Not sure if he goes into more detail in the book, but it just wet my appetite for specifics! Also one of the above mentioned he says, he felt was his biggest competition at the beginning (not who you might think, or maybe you would…).

I don’t care who liked whom on the bus. They were thrown together in a talent show competition and then encased in a a vehicle for months on end. I don’t expect them all to get along. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if they all hated each other at some point along the way. Somebody forgot to tie up the bread, somebody ate the last marmallow, somebody takes forever in the washroom, somebody hums happily in the morning, somebody clicks their pens, somebody snaps their gum, somebody eats stinky food on the bus, somebody has gas, somebody leaves their make-up all over the sink, somebody slurps their soup, somebody always gets to watch what they want on TV, etc.

I warn you all, if MJ decides to take us all on a tour and sticks us all in a bus together, there are going to be some tense moments between me and you.

Well I only have the audio book now, and I think that only covers prolly not more than 1/2 of what’s in the book, so I except those little tid-bits of gossip to be expanded.. or maybe not. BTW, People Magazine, July 16th, has a nice 1/4 page ad/7 interview question with Taylor promoting the book…. People Mag has always been terrific with Taylor promotion and exposure.

Hot 100 is a chart combining airplay and downloads. It’s the 100 hottest songs in the country regardless of genre (country, pop, AC) so it’s a pretty big deal to make it. Unless an AC song gets tons of downloads, it’s very hard to make the Hot 100 because the size of the audience isn’t big enough. I don’t think Kimberly Locke would make it. I love AI spoilers. Sum it up. Here is what I think has been rumoured (in no particular order):

1) Opens with a big group number like nothing we’ve ever seen before.
2) Mandisa does a duet with Sanjaya
3) The boys will do a number as a band, each playing an instrument
4) Gina will sing Pink’s “Who Knew”
5) Jordin will sing “This is My Now”

Radname – just to be clear, this is NOT a juicy tell-all ‘idol gossip’ book about AI or AI5 contestants. I think if anyone is expecting that, they’ll be sorely disappointed. It’s a book about Taylor, his rise to stardom, the rocky and difficult roads he had to overcome to reach his current position and the inspiration others might draw from his own journey. Other than a few passing comments about other AI contestants, most of which are humorous in nature, it’s HIS story, plain and simple.

Well, I suspect that most Taylor Hick’s fans will be talking about and are interested in the core of the book (just as the title implies). Naturally, there’s a percentage of the book that talks about AI, the people, the staff, the show, and his feelings and thoughts about winning and participating.

I’ve heard the entire audio-book, and there was nothing “gossipy” in there. Saying there was tension between him and few of the other guys is not gossip. It is how is was, according to Taylor. Gossip would be if he said something like he saw Katharine and Bucky ‘doin’ it’ in the Elliott’s bunk (which he doesn’t)! LOL…..
