I've been to one Cook show (bad fan?). I was near the front and there were absolutely no problems other than the 6'5" dude in front of me. I didn't see any signs (except one for Ryan Star). My next concert is in a couple of weeks and I opted to drive 5 hours to see David under the stars rather than seeing him at House of Blues in my hometown because I'm so over being crammed in like a sardine. I will bring my lawn chair and sit when I want and stand throughout the EEB's portion of the show...I'm excited to be going to Des Moines (never thought I'd ever say that).

I did not attempt to be near the front, but had a perfectly good spot halfway back.

I think this is the key with the general admission shows -- I went to one, and I was not part of the people running (literally) to get to the front. 'Course I also didn't and won't camp out to get up front. Had a great time and would do it again.

Anyway, as long as your heart isn't set on sitting in the front row or two, I think you'll be just fine. I sat in the 10th row in VA Beach without camping out, I did get there early (7 am) to pick up my "line number" and then went back to bed, ha!

Oh, I have the feeling that fanbase is going to set a new standard. Maybe they wonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t match the Claymatesà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ collective levels of mania. However, when you factor in relative sizeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦. Clay-Nation is a tiny fraction of the size of what it used to be whereas Adam-Nation is just vast.

Well, in all fairness, Clay-Nation was once vast in and of itself. Six years later, not so much. Lack of career can do that.
Virtually every season has at least one fan base that gets a tad overinvested (I'm being nice here) and brings on the crazy. Claymates, Soul Patrol, Archies, Cooktards, etc. Glamberts are just following tradition.
But, I can definitely see what you are saying about the Glamberts reaching new levels of crazy. I have already seen instances where, like the aforementioned groups, there seems to be a lack of understanding as to how "All Adam, All the Time" doesn't appeal to everyone. Luckily for the Glamberts, the media has undoubtedly aided in fueling their needs, for now, anyway. But, nothing lasts forever, and when there is no new controversy and the media moves on, I fear heads might roll.

Are most of these concerts where this stuff happens general admission?? I have tickets to see him next Tuesday but it's all reserved seating in a performing arts center, not a regular arena. I got 2nd row mezzanine seats, so maybe I chose wisely after all...lol.

Smartcookie, I went to a GA Cook show and had absolutely no problems. The incidents seem to happen at the big-fan heavy places. I did not attempt to be near the front, but had a perfectly good spot halfway back. There were no signs that I could see, and no one did anything untoward during the concert. I've never tried to meet a star by the buses, so no idea what might have gone on there, but it would be avoidable. My experience seemed very normal.

I have been to two DC concerts, one with reserved seating, one that was general admission. I saw some silly t-shirts and signs and some people, but I did not see any actual bad behavior. That might reflect that, with the general admission show, I did not elect to try to get one of the spots right near the stage, but instead, chose to sit in the front of the balcony. (At the Georgia Theatre which, sadly enough, has now burned down, apparently, not related to any bizarre Cook fan activity. I'd been there before and knew that the view from the front of the balcony was great. Anyway, I digress.)

So, yes, you can go to a Cook show, even a general admission one, and just enjoy it.

To me, people getting injured at rock concerts is more a factor of general admission (not having seats, IOW) than one group of fans being crazier than another. I don't care who's playing, if there's fast, loud music, liquor (and insane management pushing more liquor in and amongst the crowd) and people all pushing and shoving and jostling for position, there will be at least ten or twenty people out of their minds and thinking that's all part of the experience. If somebody pours a beer down your pants or elbows you in the eye or throws up on your shoes or smashes you into the fence, as soon as you're trampled underfoot or shoved aside, they will go right back to their crazed screaming and flailing and RAWK & ROLL, BAYBEE!!

I went to a general admission rock concert exactly once and I would never do it again. I like concerts where I can buy a ticket with a seat number on it and, you know, reserve the right to SIT in my seat, with nice, friendly ushers who will make sure the crazy people are taken away and not allowed back in if they get out of hand.

I like David Cook, but I am not going near any concert of his given the reports of out of control fans. Who'd want to be in that crowd?

The Soul Patrol is still alive and well after over three years. Taylor still has lots of web sites active yet and fans are still following him across the country and oceans. . And yes many of Taylor's fans are older women but they have never labeled themselves as Cougars, thank God. I hope Cook's fan stick around that long and are as loyal. There are are some over zealous Soul Patrol fans but most are within the fantard normal range. (whatever your take on normal is, mine I guess is pretty liberal). The Claymates I'm not so sure about. I keep hearing things about them but don't really know. I don't think much I've read on the Internet makes me think Cook's fans are too bad, it comes with the fame and fights happen in bars all the time. Booze effect some people that way. These guys have played in lots of bars and I'm sure they aren't effected. I think most famous people have had situations that made them uncomfortable but the payoff in fame and money makes it worth it IMO.

When he recorded his album, he did not yet have a band. Therefore his album is considered a solo effort.

He's now touring with his band, which will be named in the near future.
