Siobhan Magnus – Cape Cod Melody Tent

Siobhan played a headlining concert at the Cape Cod Melody tent last night and I was there. She debuted 3 original songs–Her first original was called “Hollywood Carousel”. It reminded me a little of a Pink ballad. The next song was a homage to the artist, Edward Gorey, called “Black Doll”. This song had a good melody and a hard-rock vibe. The third song was called “Scapegoat”. This one was mid-tempo–sweet melodic verses, followed by a passionate chorus. I will have a longer review with more photos up later.

Inside ‘American Idol’ Season 12 Negotiations

Despite these frictions, all parties reaped vast profits from the Idol juggernaut. Still, since Sillerman purchased 19, his company’s stock price has tumbled more than 50 percent as the show has suffered four years of ratings declines (despite this season-10 uptick).

Now CKx is being acquired by private equity firm Apollo Global Management for $509 million. According to sources familiar with the negotiations, Apollo is looking for a long-term TV deal for the show — a minimum of five years. But even though Idol flourished in its first season without Cowell, there’s no guarantee that its momentum won’t fade, and Fox reality head Mike Darnell is said to prefer an annual contract.

‘You May Not Kiss the Bride’ will open Sept. 2 at Pearlridge

Rann Watumull and the rest of the folks at Hawaii Film Partners are ecstatic because they finally have a release date for their locally made feature film “You May Not Kiss the Bride”: Sept. 2 at Consolidated’s Pearlridge 16.

The romantic comedy, which began filming here in early 2009, will then head overseas in distribution deals that will screen it in 200 Russian theaters as well as in Romania, Hungary, Canada and Latin America, said executive producer Watumull, a co-founder of the Hawaii-based film and television company.

“You May Not Kiss the Bride” stars actor-comedian Rob Schneider of “Deuce Bigalow,” “The Hot Chick” and “The Animal,” as well as Hawaii’s Tia Carrere, the actress-turned-singer who won a Grammy Award earlier this year.

It’s the story of a pet photographer — played by Dave Annable of ABC’s “Brothers & Sisters” — who accidentally maims a cat belonging to the wife of a Croatian mobster. He ends up marrying the mobster’s daughter, who is played by “American Idol” runner-up Katharine McPhee.

EMMYS: ‘Glee’ Costume Designer Lou Eyrich

But after Eyrich started shooting the season finale in New York, she changed her mind — now her submission is that episode, just in time for the April 29th deadline. “It was just so fresh, different, and fun for me. We popped all the color, and there was such excitement from the adrenaline of shooting there. Ryan Murphy loved what the kids were wearing. He and the director were really excited, and some photos even ended up in People magazine. Another reason I chose it was that we had just one day to dress, fit, and alter everything and get it boxed up by midnight and sent overnight to New York. So it was one of the most challenging episodes. And we pulled it off.”

Cheryl Cole breaks her silence to reassure fans she is ‘absolutely fine’ after ‘the weirdest past few weeks’

Calling it ‘the weirdest past few weeks’, Cheryl wrote that she has been enjoying her down time, catching up with her family and friends.

She wrote: ‘Where do i start? I have had the weirdest past few weeks (nothing unusual there though.) I wouldn’t even know how to begin to tell you all about it.

A new Kris song that was first on the Harry Fox website a few weeks ago is now showing up at ASCAP. I think this is the first new song showing up at either ASCAP or BMI.

What Adam concert did you attend? I went to numerous concerts and he had the most diversified audience I’ve ever seen. Many teens and 20s, yet all the way up to seniors.

it was at a casino, so that may have changed the demographic..

Archie’s second album didn’t do well because he didn’t have the backing of his label and had very little promo.

IMO, it had more to do with Archie’s young fans growing up and moving on. He had a huge teeny bopper fan base on AI who came out and supported his debut. But that audience is usually the quickest to move on to the next best thing. Archie himself was also growing up and not necessarily the cute kid from AI anymore. I can see both Scotty and Lauren facing that transition.

I don’t see what’s so “neat” about that. Siobhan is wasting her time and her talent by working with these people. That’s all that matters to me.

Unless you can come up with a better plan that is realistic for her, I can’t help but disagree with you.

  • soverymel

it was at a casino, so that may have changed the demographic..

Well, yeah, that could make difference.

Even beyond the fact that the demographic likely to attend at a casino venue is older to begin with, I remember some of the casino venues had an age minimum due to state laws or something like that, which really frustrated the younger fans in those areas when they were announced.

    That’s partly true.

Archie’s second album didn’t do well because he didn’t have the backing of his label and had very little promo.

This is the main reason TOSOD hasn’t done well in the US. Just look at the difference promo makes in Asia. There David’s songs are not only played on the radio, but they are on the top of the charts. A 4th single. the title track, has been released. IIRC, the album has reached platinum in Malaysia. There are articles from Asian countries that are not scheduled on his upcoming tour that are wanting him to include them. Here in the US, there are almost daily tweets from people asking, “Whatever happened to David Archuleta?”. Or tweets from people just finding out he has new music out. Or talking with people who got his first cd and were not aware that he had a new one out.

  • dy77

Yay for the new Kris song info! I am really looking forward to his album.

Dont feel sad for Lee he is just starting his US tour. Good times for Lee and fans.He has written 2 songs, and has some releasing from old label. He has also been talking about his next album. Its great to be a fan. Also cant wait to see him July 1st.

Yeah he only did 2 casino’s here, I know he sold out the show i was at [3000]… the only all family venues we really have are massive stadiums, where idols live will be, not sure adam could sell that out yet. Maybe one of the theaters, but those are always booked.. then the clubs are 18 – 21+… so eh kids are out of luck here.
