A Broadway awakening

7 p.m. Sunday on CBS 4

Ignored by most of the world, it remains the most important TV night of the year for a self-appointed few of us. The Tony Awards are noteworthy not for the prizes, but for the opportunity to see numbers from Broadway musicals performed live on television….

… Other shows getting to perform include: Curtains, Mary Poppins, A Chorus Line and last year’s The Color Purple, now featuring American Idol winner Fantasia….

Local restaurant entertains famous customer

The first local restaurant to support LaKisha Jones on its marquee was the first place the singer wanted to visit when she returned to Flint from Los Angeles on May 27

After meeting (see videos) and doing a quick interview on WDZZ-FM (92.7), the “American Idol” finalist headed straight to LaFamilia Morales Mexican Restaurant for dinner.

She arrived like a star in a lavish, white limo bus, accompanied by dozens of family members and a police escort. The group filled the small restaurant.

LaFamilia is normally closed on Sundays, but owners Juanita and Sergio Morales were more than happy to open their doors for their favorite hometown girl and her guests.

“We wanted to see her, to get to meet her in person,” Juanita Morales said. “I was glad she remembered us.”

Shortly after 10 p.m., Jones stepped from the limo bus onto an unfurled red carpet sprinkled with rose petals. Juanita Morales greeted her at the restaurant door with a huge bouquet….

Hereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s whatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s new at a few old shows.

THE COLOR PURPLE

Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a show of another color, thanks to Fantasia Barrino. Since April 10, when the third American Idol took over as Celie, the tears have been flowing at the Broadway Theatre. LaChanze may have won the Tony, but Fantasiaà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s won hearts – even as she breaks them.

Learn about ‘Idol’ Jordin Sparks’ Gospel roots
Built a following singing for churches, pro-life events

Sparks fly
She survived 20 weeks and 74 million votes to win the biggest U.S. music competition, but does American Idol 2007 winner Jordin Sparks have what it takes to survive the success?

…Jordin is far from the first American Idol contestant with Christian roots. Season Five star Mandisa Huntley may have scuttled her own position when she dedicated a gospel tune “to everybody that wants to be free . . . your addiction, lifestyle, or situation may be big, but God is bigger.” Gay and lesbian activists interpreted her statement as support for ex-gay ministries, and her momentum flagged. She was eliminated and was a 10th-place finisher.

One of Sparks’ Season 6 peers, Chris Sligh, sang a DC Talk song during one round, though not one with overtly Christian lyrics. In all, four of Season 6′s top 11 finalists had Christian backgrounds: Melinda Doolittle, Phil Stacey, Sligh, and Jordin Sparks.

On her Idol biography website, Jordin listed winning the Gospel Music Association’s Overall Spotlight Winner award in 2004 as one of her top accomplishments. On the same page, she listed God, Mom, and Dad as those she would like to thank upon winning…

Piers Morgan: The Insider

Only Simon Cowell could be the star of two This Is Your Life specials within the space of just four years; one for his actual life and one for his ego, presumably.

I headed down to the ITV studios to take part in the show with a heavy heart. Spending several hours fawning over Mr Cowell’s genius is not exactly my idea of a great Sunday night…

…The show itself was, as we all feared, a lengthy, nauseating eulogy to Simon’s all-round brilliance as a superstar and human being.

“You enjoying yourself?” I asked, as Amanda and I went on to add our spoonful of saccharine. “I’m loving it,” Cowell replied, blinding me with those gnashers.

Paula Abdul saved the day with a sustained verbal assault on his nocturnal habits. “Simon’s the only man I know who calls out his own name during sex,” she said, adding, “And he’s so vain he uses condoms ribbed on the inside.”

Outspoken, spunky Pickler lives dream
Hard-luck past drives her desire to be role model

Kellie Pickler was a kid in a trailer in Albermarle, N.C.

She would sit and look through magazines and point at the kind of mansion she wanted to own when she grew up. Bored with that, she’d look through car magazines and decide on the color of Mercedes-Benz she’d like to own.

“I thought she was full of it, to tell you the truth,” said her sister, Courtney Pickler. “I never thought it was going to happen, but she used to talk about it all the time. I remember when we were in the back of our grandparents’ Suburban and we were singing ‘I Will Always Love You’ by Dolly Parton, and Kellie said, ‘I’m going to be famous one day.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, OK.’ …

Wow, I’m so glad Fantasia’s doing so well as Celie in “The Color Purple”! I knew she was good in the part, but I had now idea how good….

Good for Kellie as well. I found her a little annoying on the show but she was so funny afterwards with a brilliant sense of humor on her red carpet interviews that I could easily see what was so great about her.

hmmmm….I was wondering if the holdup on a big signing annuoncement for Jordin had to do with the ‘rents being difficult. After all she is only 17 *ahem*. TPTB have to negotiate with Philipe, who’s had some showbiz like experience of his own.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to keep control of Jordin’s career. However, her parents managing her would not result in Jordin becoming a huge mainstream star. She’d more than likely end up as a Christian artist, like Mandisa.

    19M – Management

All completely different entities with completely different functions.

That’s an interesting rumor about Jordin. I just don’t think it’s a good idea for parents to manage her career although of course they would have some say since she’s only 17. Thanks for the clarification, Hezzer. I was always confused by whether they’re signing a management or recording contract.

I was always confused by whether theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re signing a management or recording contract.

It depends. In the case of Daughtry, he signed both. Taylor signed with 19R to record his album, but is managed by The Firm rather than 19M.

  • bean99

That’s what confused me, MJ. I knew that Chris signed with them and Taylor didn’t but hadn’t really figured out that they also had a separate recording division.

    BILLBOARD MAGAZINE REVIEWS “HEAVEN KNOWS”

    http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/content_display/reviews/singles/e3if6219759863b5ce951b364c50b1df3dc

Production by Matt Serletic, A-level songwriters, live jam band and a melody line from Marvin Gaye’s 1965 “Ain’t That Peculiar.” On paper, 2006 “American Idol” winner Taylor Hicks’ follow-up to adult top 40 top 20 “Just to Feel That Way” sounds triumphant. But a Southern rock delivery could be a deterrent to contemporary radio. If anything, yokel “Heaven Knows” harks back to mid-’70s classic rock. The song is truly tailored to Hicks’ intrinsic vocal styleà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ and therein may lie a fatal flaw with programmers. As this season of “A.I.” peaks, the question looms: Despite 25 million consistent TV viewers, does FM radio regard “A.I.” winners with respect the morning (or season) after? à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ Chuck Taylor

My two cents — this review is as much a statement of the state of today’s music as it is about the song HEAVEN KNOWS.

  • SummerBreeze

My first time posting. :smile1_ee: I agree that parents shouldn’t manage their kids. Hopefully they would be able to find someone they could trust to manage Jordan.

Blake getting signed to 19 means that he will have an album out by Christmas- but he is unlikely to get good promotion. Chris D. did not have good promotion- granted he didn’t need it. But 19 is notorious for thinking that will sell on their own because they came off of Idol.

Until Season 5 the winner HAD to sign with 19M for management and 19Recordings (in conjunction with BMG) for their records.

Something happened last season that drastically changed that.

  • Abilymom

Regarding the Billboard review, here’s what I don’t get. Does Amy Winehouse have a contemporary sound? I say no, no, no. But she’s exploding right now.

And hi SummerBreeze! I immediately thought of the song when I saw your screenname!

    Go DAUGHTRY!!

    Largest crowds EVER at Riverfest!

  • WVIdolFan

I don’t think parents managing is a good idea either. Diana DiGarmo and Vonzell Solomon are both managed by their parents, both excellent singers and where are they now? True, Diana has done a lot of theater, Vonzell not much of anything other then local stuff. Those gals were too talents and gorgeous not to have gotten more out of their Idol exposure which makes me think parents as managers isnt so good.

  • squishy

I don’t know if truly Jordin will be managed by her parents. I suspect since she is seventeen that the management team, whomever it ends up being, must get approval from her parents until she reaches 18.

It will be interesting to see who manages Jordin and Blake in the end.

In terms of DAUGHTRY getting not the best promotion in the beginning, I agree it definitely wasn’t the best but I think is was APPROPRIATE since Chris came in 4th place and Taylor was the winner and Taylor SHOULD get BETTER promotion.

Jordin won and should get the BEST promotion in the beginning. But to be honest, it seems like TPTB are treating Jordin and Blake as “co-winners” right now which isn’t cool. Taylor got great promotion at this stage of the game right after he won American Idol. He was every where as he should have been.

Thanks for the explanation of 19E, 19M, and 19R – I am still confused by all of it though.

It sounds like things are going great for Blake so far. I can see him becoming very successful with his unique sound if he is allowed to play up his strengths, but who knows what they will make him do?

Even though I don’t have an AI tour coming near me, I am getting excited to hear what they will sing and how it will be structured this year since I see Sanjaya as being the big star, with Blake and Melinda next. I can’t wait to read recaps here!

I think the rumor is that Jordin will not be managed by 19M but they will manage Blake. I don’t know about the recording side. I think last year neither Taylor or Kat were managed by 19M either because 19M passed or they wanted different management. However, I know Chris is managed by them. (I don’t know Kellie’s deal). I’m sure they also manage Carrie as until Season 5, they managed all the winners.

Based on their track record, I think Blake wins in this situation (for now). The rest of the rumor is that his recorded music will be very different from what he did on Idol (maybe more electronic.) Who knows if any of this is true.

  • sexygirl

Something happened last season that drastically changed that.

I don’t think it really has anything to do with last season. I think it might have a bit more to do with the fact that she is a minor..After all she is only “17.” And technically, her parents are her gaurdians. Since she does have a father who is in the Entertainment business, it may bode well for her to have him as her manager in the long run. A lot of top name singers do have their parents as their managers..USHER, although it was rumoured that he fired her, Bow Wow, Brandy, Beyonce..

Also, I do feel last season and this season were two completely different animals, as far as TPTB’s attitude towards the contestants are concerned. This season feels more like the way it use to be. The first and second place finishers were singed to 19M..

XO is right. Everyone keeps forgetting that 19M does not really have a very good track record, as far as these singers being treat like real artists and not just AI contestants. Something tells me that’s why Taylor and Kat did not sign with them. I know some are basking in the Chris’ “instant success” love but keep in mind that Kelly, Clay, Ruben, Fantasia, Justin, Diana, Tamyra and whomever else I’ve left off the list were all, at one point or another, signed to 19M. We already now the outcome of the majority of them.

Blake signing with 19M may get him some tv time on next season’s show but 19M does not seem to know what to do with these contestants once they step into the realm of being artist. They seem to believe that the exposure of the show and the show’s influence inside the industry should be enough to sell cds. The focus seems to be all about cd sales and not so much the artist. Maybe that’s why Chris did not really get a lot of tv face time but his cd was used quite a bit on a few affiliated shows as background music. The actual promoting of the individual singer as an artist leaves much to be desired, as far as 19M is concerned. Just ask Tamyra’s fans..

  • bean99

I think that Chris had quite a bit of tv time when promoting his album, Sexygirl. I seem to remember complaints from fans of Taylor about that although he obviously got much more press as the winner. It doesn’t really matter at this point whether 19M is the best thing or not but they did seem to make some good decisions with Chris including an early release date, single, and video. I hope that Blake will benefit the same way.

  • madmike2276

The last finalist to finish top 2 who was managed by parents was Diana DeGarmo (whom I love!!!), and we saw how that relationship worked out with Clive and TPTB. I think when you are on AI and you sign a contract it is time to get a REAL manager who has REAL connections.

  • squishy

I personally think that 19M in general is NOT very good at promotion. The Firm is better. I can see why Kelly left 19M for the Firm.

IMO, Chris got kind of crappy promotion in the beginning. It wasn’t until Chris signed with CAA under Jeff Frasco which happened after the CD was released during the Thanksgiving Holidays when the ball starting rolling for Chris. It was at that time that Simon Fuller put McIlwaine from 19M together with Jeff Frasco of CAA to work together to plot the band’s future when a “strategy” was put in place for the band.

Just because Blake is managed by 19M, doesn’t mean that he will get great promotion. Hopefully Simon Fuller will get him a good manager from 19M and hopefully Blake will get a great agent like Chris has at CAA.

Rollingstone’s lastest take on the AI finale (from page 9 of the June 14, 2007 issue):

    JUST IN…..America Has Spoken

And in the most suspense-free finale ever, Jordin Sparks nabbed the America Idol crown. The strangest and lamest season of Idol to date wrapped up with Paula Abdul breaking her nose by tripping over her dog, Sanjaya Malakar duetting with Aerosmith’s Joe Perry, and Taylor Hicks singing “A Day in the Life” – an no one can say which is the biggest travesty. Even Green Day made the transition from American Idiot to American Idol, stopping by to lay their charity-album cover of “Working Class Hero.”

Diana DeGarmo was NOT signed by 19- she was managed by her Mother. Bo Bice was not signed by 19 either though I don’t recall who he ended up using as management. Last year Katharine was not signed to 19- her contract was bought out by Azoff Music Management.

  • sexygirl

I think that Chris had quite a bit of tv time when promoting his album, Sexygirl. I seem to remember complaints from fans of Taylor about that although he obviously got much more press as the winner. It doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t really matter at this point whether 19M is the best thing or not but they did seem to make some good decisions with Chris including an early release date, single, and video. I hope that Blake will benefit the same way.

My post was not about Chris nor Taylor but 19M since that’s what the topic of postings were about.

One has to be honest to oneself when they look at the situation with 19M as far as how they handle all of these contestants. 19M is not a new management team. They have been around for a while. To believe that their success record could be measure by the success of two singers is a bit much.

From season one to this point, how many of those contestants have been signed to 19M? How many are still there? How many are having any real success outside of cd selling? How many of them are 19M really helping as an individual artist to break into their respective markets? Poor Tamyra. At least I will consider Chris and Carrie the lucky ones to have come on board at the time that they did. AI has become a real powerhouse since they paraded Tamyra across their stage almost every week believing that that would be enough to sell a few millions cds. Unfortunately, they haven’t changed much. Their ability to market and manage these contestants as individuals is a bit of a joke. Maybe if 19M did see these contestants as artists and not products from their show, they would market them better. It almost feel as if it’s become successful first then we will support you. Instead of the other way around. I belive that was one of Kelly’s biggest complaints why she left. They did not take care of her as an artist.

Since I don’t really follow the careers of either Carrie or Chris, I’m very curious to know if 19M is really managing them well as artist or are they just pushing their cds..

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

but keep in mind that Kelly, Clay, Ruben, Fantasia, Justin, Diana, Tamyra and whomever else Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve left off the list were all, at one point or another, signed to 19M.

    The golden girl, Carrie Underwood?

I don’t personally give a f*ck who Blake is signed to management-wise OR record company-wise, as long as I have a cd in my hands by the end of the year. Sounds like I’ll get my wish, so I’m golden. It’s up to his management company, whoever they may be, to do the rest.

I think some are forgetting that Blake is not stupid. If he told the producers to f*ck off during the course of the show, I doubt he’s going to be really open to someone screwing him over management-wise. Just saying.

  • sexygirl

So Kat was brought out? Thanks for the info..I knew Diana and Kat did not sign but did not follow Bo’s career after the show.

I’m a bit curious as to who’s responsible for managing those who host those Idol Specials like the Idol Red Carpet events and Idol Watch. Are they managed by 19E/M also?

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

Sexygirl, the problem is they can parade Tamyra around all they want, but if the cd does not pass muster, that parading around doesn’t help. Her cd was NOT good. Period.

  • sexygirl

If he told the producers to f*ck off during the course of the show, I doubt heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s going to be really open to someone screwing him over management-wise. Just saying.

The problem is, that is if 19 wants him there is absolutely nothing Blake can do about it but sign with 19- unless he can get a management company to buy out his contract like what happened with Taylor and Katharine.

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

if 19 wants him there is absolutely nothing Blake can do about it but sign with 19

Who ever said that he didn’t WANT to be with them in the first place?

And Blake said in a radio interview that he told the producers to f*ck off.

  • squishy

    Sexygirl,

Great point! I think it would be interesting to see who is REALLY calling the shots for Carrie and Chris is terms of management for those two seem to be marketed as artists and not just fixtures of AI. I pointed out that it wasn’t until 19M teamed with CAA when the ball started rolling for Chris/DAUGHTRY.

Don’t know who specifically is managing Carrie expect it is 19M. That person may have teamed with someone else as well, similar to Chris.

Very important, promotion is necessary but it isn’t the end all of course.

  • squishy

Wow Blake already telling producers to F*ck off. He better be careful or else he will get a crappy reputation as someone difficult to work with. If that happens, TPTB will try to undermine him covertly (and sometimes overtly) to make sure he knows who is REALLY calling the shots.

Look what is happening to Kelly Clarkson…

  • bean99

I may be a Chris and Blake fan but really their management is their business. Like Sarah I really only care that I can get a cd. Of course I want them to be successful but can’t stress about the details.

Someone here posted that Tamyra had a real attitude with Clive & the record company that that impacted things. I don’t remember the details but it sounds like she believed Simon when he said she’d be a superstar. Whether that’s true or not, I did like her on the show and am glad she’s been able to pursue acting.

Squishy, these are the producers that didn’t want Blake to do Time of the Season or You give love a bad name.

Bean, and the same ones who wanted him to do “Jive Talkin’”. If nothing else, he’s gonna stand up for his artistry.

Blake got the rep with Nigel early of being a hard-headed, strong-willed, rebel bad boy. I don’t think Nigel really liked him to begin with. He was almost never complimentary of him in his publicized comments. Simon, on the other hand… different story. Whether Simon just sees the marketability potential or actually “gets” it, I dunno. But it was pretty obvious that Simon appreciated him.

Regarding the Billboard review, hereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s what I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t get. Does Amy Winehouse have a contemporary sound?

A resounding NO, which is a good thang :thumbup_tb: I love it that Amy is number six on the current top 200.

hereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Kelly with Jeff Beck on Idol Gives Back :)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KFQbZMO7fg

    Thanks, star!

Blake has a contemporary sound, so I don’t think being managed by 19M should be a problem (if indeed they will be managing him). He seems savvy and is probably already used to promoting his music via internet channels. I like it that he stands up for himself.

I think the Daughtry team has done an excellent job with promotion…start out playing smaller venues, build more buzz, graduate to opening for big name acts…and maybe one day headlining venues.

Since Jordin’s still a minor, it will be very interesting to see what Papa Sparks has in mind.

Thanks Hezzer for the 19 division breakdown. Makes dissection and understanding a lot simpler.

    And welcome, SummerBreeze :)

I found this over at TWOP but it is a quote from the AI contract regarding signings of the contestants:

“2.19 Prior to selecting the label to be the Nominated Label for any Finalist other than a Winning Artist 19 shall contact Labels and shall be entitled to be contacted by Labels to determine each Labelà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s interest in being a Nominated Label for the Finalist concerned. 19 agrees to consult the Labels and attend meetings with executives from the Labels. Interested Labels which wish to become the US Licensee for any Finalist shall declare their interest in such Finalist by notice from the Label to 19 at any time up to 7 days after the transmission in USA of final episode of the Series concerned PROVIDED THAT upon if expiry of such seven (7) day period no Label has declared its interest 19 shall promptly notify Syco in writing that such period has expired and the said seven (7) day period shall be extended so that interested Labels may declare their said interest to become US Licensee in respect of a particular Finalist within five (5) business days from 19à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s said notice. 19 shall make its selection of the Nominated Label for each Finalist from those Labels formally declaring their interest within 21 days after the final episode of the Series concerned. 19 shall act reasonably and in good faith in exercising its right of selection and shall take into account the à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“genreà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ and style of music of the Finalist concerned and the interested Labels and shall not seek to persuade any Label to vary the financial provisions of the USA Licence for the benefit of 19 (but if any Label of their own volition offers more favourable provisions 19 shall not be in breach of this obligation (and similarly Syco and Sony BMG shall not be in breach of clause 2.20 by preventing such actions)). If 19 fails or refuses to make its selection within such time period then Syco shall be entitled to nominate and select the Label to be the Nominated Label in place of 19. If only one Label declares an interest in a Finalist, 19 shall select that Label as Nominated Label. If no Label declares an interest in the Finalist concerned

19 shall be free to licence recordings by that Finalist to a third party subject to the matching rights procedure herein.

2.20 Syco and Sony BMG agrees that each Label shall be free to contact 19 in relation to Winning Artists and Finalists of each Series of American Idol in respect of which Syco exercises an option pursuant to clauses 2.2, 2.5, 2.8, 2.11 and 2.14 above. Syco and Sony BMG further agree that they will act in good faith and not frustrate 19à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s freedom to select and nominate.”

  • hezzer19

If I’m reading that right it’s a 19R contract which has nothing to do with a 19M contract. Plus it almost seems like a contract between 19R and 19E. Without reading the whole thing it’s impossible to tell.

But to comment, we have no idea if it’s valid or, if it is, what year it is from. If it is the leaked copy from season one it is safe to assume that that contract has been overhauled several times.

We have always assumed that yes, 19R has first dibs on signing the artists to their recording division. It’s the management division that has often been in question. It is a massive conflict of interest to have a recording contract and a management contract within the same corporate umbrella.

Again, without reading the entire contract, including how they have defined all the terms used in the quoted selection, we still do not know the whole picture and should therefore not make assumptions.

But then again, what do I know.

  • folk

The contract is dated 11/28/05. It was written after AI4- so it is fairly current. The entire thing can be read here:

    http://contracts.onecle.com/ckx/american-idol.lic.2005.11.28.shtml

  • Nevada

Okay, this clause is from an Agreement dated November 28, 2005, between the following parties:

    19 Recordings Limited
    19 TV Limited
    Simco Limited
    CKX UK Holdings Limited
    19 Entertainment Limited
Sony BMG Music Entertainment (UK) Limited

If the link works, you can read the contract in its entirety at:
    http://contracts.onecle.com/ckx/american-idol.lic.2005.11.28.shtml

I’ve only skimmed it, but it appears that this is the renegotiation among the above parties occasioned by the expiration of Simon Cowell’s contract after AI4, and is tied to his continuing participation for Idol through AI9.

    And there is this:

10.9 à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Labelà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ shall mean each label entity or division wholly owned by Sony BMG Music Entertainment Group in the USA from time to time including Arista, Columbia, Epic, J Records, Jive, LaFace, RCA, RCA Victor, RLG Nashville, Sony Music Nashville, Sony Urban Music, Provident Integrity and Verity.

She uses a lot of brass in her music that gives it a very throw-backy vibe. I think it’s current more for its edginess, irreverance and contemporary cultural themes (rehab?) but the music has an old-school r&b/soul sound.

I understand all the players except for Simco Limited/Syco Music. What are they — recording? publishing?

What relation is Syco, if any, to 19R? I am assuming there is one.

I alwaya assumed that 19R had an integral role, together with Clive and such players, in deciding what label a contestant recorded under. This seems to confirm that they actually have the final say, if they want it, when there is interest from more than one Sony (and Syco??) label.

As a further part of your consideration hereunder, I also agree to pay you, as and when received by me, a sum equal to the percentage set forth above in this paragraph of all compensation (as above defined) earned and/or received by and/or accruing to me after the expiration of the term hereof, for as long as I shall either directly or indirectly be employed or receive compensation under any employment or contracts entered into and negotiated for during the term of this agreement and/or under any renewal or extension of any such contracts and/or employment and/or under any employment and/or contracts entered into by me at any time in substitution or replacement of any employment or contracts entered into prior to the expiration of said term. Yes, they (19R) do handle the digital AI product.

  • hezzer19

Oh in the contract it also mentioned 19R dealing with the compilation CD as well so the digital downloads would make sense.

  • star

Star no one is questioning that as far as I know. We are just speaking generally about AI contracts.

Yeah, I wasn’t talking about the contract discussion, it just seemed like some people before that didn’t seem to get it.

Don’t mind me, I’ve had a migraine all day, I just woke up, and I’m cranky. LOL.

  • pj

    I see chat is offline.

I have no desire to read all the legalese. LOL.

I think some of them probably do seek legal counsel, but the perceived benefits far outweigh the negatives.

  • hezzer19

Yes PJ that’s what I was getting at. Some of them will do anything for the chance.

*sending Star some Advil and a cup of tea*

  • AFan

Where’s chat! If I may, I’d like to display the emotions that I faced upon seeing that chat was unavailable.
    :down_tb: :glurps_tb: :ponder_tb: :thumbdown_tb: :annoyed_tb: :wallbash_tb: :furious_tb: :sick_ee: :question_ee: :smoke_tb:

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj

I’m going to attempt to put it back online, so hold on a minute… :)

  • pj

LOL, Afan, me too! Who ruined it for us?

Oh, and Hez, I know that’s what you were getting at. I guess my point is that it works out for some of them. They can make a living doing something they love, as opposed to working in a bank or Sonic or something like that.

((((STAR)))) Hope you feel better, my dear.

  • hezzer19

    AFan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!eleventyone!!!!11111!!!!!!!!

I’m treating the headline thread as if it were chat aren’t I? Sorry everyone. I will try not to control the thread any more.

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj

    Chat is back up.

  • Nevada

    Chat won’t let me in!

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj

Is everybody having the same problem?

  • hezzer19

    *sigh*

It lets me post MJ but I can’t see anyone else in there and it won’t change my name. I did log into Gabbly and that worked but…..

Plus it gave me GREEN the first time out. Gabbly is so RUDE!!!

  • Nevada

(sulks, mutters under breath and is NOT using legalese, either!)

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj
  • hezzer19

I managed to get in there MJ!!!!!

*yelling* NEVADA, Sarah, PJ, AFan MJ and everyone else!!! come play.

Of course, bugger and blast, it’s already 7 minutes to 10.

    *sigh*

  • pj

I’m in regular chat. I didn’t see anyone in private chat. Hez? Where are you? Did you leave?

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

    I can’t get into either one. :glurps_tb:

  • pj

Aww, Sarah… try to get into regular. :(

  • Nevada

    Neither can I, Sarah.

  • hezzer19

    *weeping*

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

    Still not working… *sigh*

  • pj

Keep trying! NV just got in and she said it took awhile. :)

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj

I can’t get in either! Something is wrong with Gabbly tonight..

  • Nevada

I had to use AOL to get in…I just tried again with IE and it won’t let me in.

  • pj

    Try using firefox… not IE

  • Nevada

    I don’t have firefox.

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

Every time I try it doesn’t list even my gabber # on the side and I can’t see what anyone else is saying. I tried logging in, and that doesn’t help.

When I click on the private chat, it just takes me to a page with the web address, topic, and password. And it says to visit gabbly.com for other ways to chat.

And I got the hotel reserved today for Seattle and wanted to tell you about it too, pj. DAMMIT!

    ETA: don’t have firefox either.

  • hezzer19

Edited as everyone beat me to the explanation.

  • pj

Download firefox, Sarah and Hez! It’s easy!

  • hezzer19

    Downloading Firefox? Easy.

Getting into chat, even WITH Firefox? Difficult. No, strike that, try IMPOSSIBLE.

    I’m cranky now.

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

Me too, hez. :annoyed_tb: Grrrrr at gabbly.

  • kac

For those frustrated with Chat some of us are getting in now. Try some more maybe?

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

    Nope. Still no luck.

Gabbly hates us, hez. We should stop being bitches.

  • Nevada

    mj made it into chat…

  • pj

Also, reboot. I did that and it helped. Maybe clear cookies and cache.

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

    Already done all that.

  • hezzer19

    Nothing *sigh*

  • Nevada

We’ll be as boring as humanly possible, so you won’t miss much.

  • hezzer19

Nevada you are never boring. I can see everything you guys are saying but I can’t respond. I feel like a gabber except I’m not yelling at anyone.

I’m for bed anyway. The sun will come out tomorrow. Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow…

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

Me too hez. I can’t see anything that’s said after the chat loads for me though.

I guess this is gabbly’s way of saying “get your ass to sleep.”

ETA: PJ – check your email in about 10 minutes.

  • longsong

I shall check my email as well….I shan’t find anything, but it’s the thought that counts….

  • Lu

Chat is not working for me. Is anyone still here?

  • jeannie

    Lu,
Chat is not working for me either. I’m jojo in chat.

  • dante

I am in chat now…..where is everyone?

  • Lu

dante, jeannie – I just tried again. I put in a comment and then nothing happens… bummer.

  • jeannie

May be it will be better tomorrow.

  • dante

Well, I can get into chat and post and see my posts and gabbers on the side – but nothing at all happens like no one is really there but me……

    I am lonesome.

Hopefully it will be fixed tomorrow :)

It is sad to be so addicted to chat…..

  • dante

    chat is working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
