Crystal Bowersox Was Proud To Break The ‘American Idol’ Mold

And yes, she’s aware that her uniqueness might have cost her the season-nine crown and that a certain part of the American public might consider her to be a bit, well, odd, but she has no regrets, and she doesn’t plan to change anytime soon, no matter what people might think of her. In fact, she’ll openly discuss all the things that made her stand out from the “Idol” herd, because they’re also the things that make her an individual.

“Oh yeah, like the fact that I have missing teeth and that I don’t comb my hair. I mean … I think that unique people are really what colors the world, ” she told MTV News. “It’s a beautiful thing to be your own individual, and in high school, you get pushed into being the same as everyone, and then, once you’re an adult, you look for the differences in people. That’s what’s interesting about life and humanity.”

“It bothers me a little bit, because why pigeonhole anything? I’ve got songs that are country, I’ve got blues and rock … R&B … there’s really nothing that I’m not open to, and I don’t really want to be in one genre, ” she said. “It’s really the market that does that. People don’t know how to sell your album unless you are in a specific category on the shelf. So, hopefully, that won’t happen too much [with me].”

‘Idol’ winner’s concert appeals to fans

When attending a concert for the Season 8 winner of “American Idol, ” one could only assume a crowd of screaming teens and devout reality television viewers would accompany the talented singer.

Unexpectedly, the audience at Tuesday night’s Kris Allen concert at the Overture Center included both families and middle-aged couples, as well as a rather tame hoard of groupies.

Besides the surprise in fan demographic, Allen is everything any fan of “Idol” would expect. He has killer charm and his pitch perfect voice resonates, two things undoubtedly pleasing to every ticket holder.

Anoop Desai Blog – 06/02/10

It’s been a busy couple weeks! In addition to taking a lot of meetings, I’ve been busy writing, and focusing on the next few weeks, which with any luck, will be the biggest yet. A few things to run down:

1. “All is Fair (Crazy Love) will be the next single, and the first single being pushed to radio. Although I was overwhelmed by the support for “My Name, ” I think that “All is Fair” is the perfect summer song, and we’re looking forward to support from radio and fans to make that the case!

2. The next release is already in the works, a 2.0 or Deluxe edition of All is Fair in the fall. This edition will feature new content.

‘American Idol’s’ Kara DioGuardi on Crystal vs. Lee — ‘consistent’ vs. ‘growth’

Zap2it caught up with “American Idol” judge Kara DioGuardi to dish on Season 9 — Lee vs. Crystal and what she’s up to before the Season 10 auditions kick off.

We first had to ask about the finale. How did she feel about Lee DeWyze winning over the season-long front-runner Crystal Bowersox?

“I don’t think people vote on the specific night. They don’t go, ‘Whoever does the best during the finale is gonna win, ‘” Kara explains. “Crystal was at the forefront of the competition from very early on, but it’s very difficult for the front-runner to win the competition. The underdog comes up and takes it.”

‘America’s Got Talent’ tops ‘Glee’ with its own New Directions

This is a choir called New Directions. And last night, they beat a diiiiifferent choir called New Directions: The season premiere of America’s Got Talent topped Glee in the ratings last night, averaging around 12 million viewers to Glee‘s 9. Maybe this ensemble of formerly homeless veterans can teach Rachel Berry a thing or two about determination and perseverance.

‘Glee’ finale: Rachel and Finn sing ‘Faithfully’ in the finale

It looks like the first season of “Glee” is coming full circle — Rachel and Finn won our hearts (and made some of us cry) with their first episode performance of “Don’t Stop Believin.'” They will now be closing out the season with another Journey classic — “Faithfully.” Check it out!

Their harmonies on the first verse are just gorgeous. Will it be a happy ending for these two crazy kids at the end of Season 1? We certainly hope so, after all they’ve been through this season.
