The Carrie Underwood/Tony Bennett duet recorded for the legendary crooner’s  new Duets II album has been revealed. The duo recorded “It Had To Be You” for the disc, set to be released on September 20.  Oh. One of my favorite standards! Should be good.

David Archuleta tweeted last night, “Went to the Grand Ole Opry again tonight. Little Jimmy Dickens was performing on that stage and he just turned 90.”

Whatever Pia Toscano was doing in Arkansas, she seems to be finished, She tweets, “Had a blast at the Walmart Shareholder Conference!!!!” The big meeting is Friday. I would be really surprised if Scotty McCreery isn’t scheduled to perform. Plus, on August 22, Pia will be honored by the Brooklyn Cyclones at MCU park before the 7:30 baseball game. She first sang the anthem there in 2003 when she was only 15. More information about “Pia Toscano Appreciation Night” can be found HERE.

‘American Idol’ Scotty McCreery Weighs In On ‘Country Bieber’ Moniker

“Country Bieber … I mean, Justin Bieber is the epitome of [a] big star, so it was cool for me,” McCreery smiled. “I mean, Justin’s a whole lot further ahead than I am … so, I guess it’s mainly because of our age. …”

“Girls love Scotty McCreery like they love Justin Bieber,” Alaina interjected. “It’s true.”

“Thank you, Lauren,” McCreery laughed. “I just figure it’s because of our age. Me and Justin are pretty much two young guns.”

GM Signs on to Sponsor ‘X Factor’ on Fox

General Motors has signed on as a larger sponsor Fox’s “X Factor,” becoming the second major advertiser to pledge support for the much-anticipated musical-contest program, according to people familiar with the situation.

Spokespeople for Fox and General Motors declined to comment.

The sponsorship will likely weave a GM vehicle into epsiodes of “X Factor,” but will not last the entire season, like the deals that Coca-Cola, Ford Motor and AT&T have with Fox’s other big program, “American Idol.” Last January, Pepsi said it would be exclusive season-long sponsor of the program, which Fox executives are hoping will match ratings juggernaut “Idol” in terms of viewer interest.

Anyone know how long Archie is going to be in Nashville?

That city will be overrun with even more ex-Idols than usual soon. :) Scotty & Lauren, Archie, and Kris is coming into Nashville for some writing sessions sometime this month as well

I do think CaseyJ is a mellow low-key kinda guy in interviews with radio, etc. From the ones I’ve seen, though, he’s got a sly wit and is very personable. He looks right at the interviewer, smiles a lot, laughs. Is he lighting his hair on fire and jumping up and down? Ah, no. LOL. So if that’s not charismatic, okay.

I love Casey’s personality and that he is so real. He’s got a quiet charm and he can be very witty. Love his great big laugh! :)

But when he starts playing that guitar of his and starts singing, he lights up. So into the music, so enthralled. And I also see the difference in him from the AI show. Now that he’s allowed to play his guitar the way he wants to…it’s as if his guitar and his voice are the same instrument. The guitar sings, then Casey’s voice sings. I, personally, become enthralled with his music. I don’t care if his hair is on fire or he’s jumping up and down. His music speaks to me. Might not be everybody’s cuppa but he’s got me. That’s for sure.

Same here! He looks so joyful when he is performing (also serious when the song calls for it) and the emotion in his voice mixed with his guitar playing really draws me in. I loved him on the show, but I think his performances (and voice) are so much better now.

Well, I would rather CaseyJ introduce himself with solid material. I know it’s hard to wait, but man, if I were a Scotty fan… that first single is pretty iffy for me as far as introducing him to the country music world. It’s just not a really good song. I think Scotty is riding on the AI wave and I’m happy for him. I hope he gets a better single next time out, because IMHO he’s going to need better material if he wants to stick around.

Scotty is fresh off the idol show plus he won first place. He is riding with the wave (which he should be) and it does not take too much to be popular now. Casey wants (and needs) to take this opportunity and make the most of it by producing the best material that he can, something he really believes in. Can’t blame him for that.

It will be really, really interesting to see where Scotty, Danny, Lauren, Aaron and CaseyJ are five years from now. I wish them all success.

It definitely will be! I think that they all have something to add to the music scene and they all can be successful in their own right.

I have no idea how long Archie will be in Nashville but the idols do all seem to be headed for Nashville. I hope that they can all meet up.

RE: Season 9…I think Siobhan Magnus has the potential to be one of the most successful Idol contestants. She just needs to get rid of the yes men and the talentless leeches who have been taking advantage of her.

  • car3278sweet

I wonder if Big Mike could tie in the Late Night Sandwich concept into his reality show. That was actually QUITE entertaining last year.

Oh, yeah. Geez. Kinda forgot about those. They were hilarious. Anyone who claims that all the S9 folks were boring as hell and had no personality… well, they just need to look at some of these vids.

RE: Season 9…I think Siobhan Magnus has the potential to be one of the most successful Idol contestants. She just needs to get rid of the yes men and the talentless leeches who have been taking advantage of her.

I think Siobhan’s moment has passed. The minute she decided to go back to Massachusetts, instead of staying in LA or going to NYC, her chances of succeeding faded.

I would probably check out a Mike Lynch reality show just for the novelty factor of seeing an AI contestant in that setting. However, Fantasia’s reality show certainly did nothing to enhance her image, and if anything made her look more ridiculous, so I think Mike is being naive if he thinks a network wouldn’t want to pump up the sensationalism or “scripted” funny stuff. Maybe if he got his show on something like ABC Family or one of the religious channels. Who knows…

Season 9 was snakebitten by many things but at the end of the day the biggest problem is their figurehead is shlubby Lee DeWyze, aka Simon’s “parting gift” to the franchise. Casey and Crystal are crazy talented but the image of the season is set based on DeWyze.

    Fenway,

I also would like to know what he is working on in Nashville.

I’d also like to know what David A. is working on. In his last interview in Myrtle Beach he mentioned writing, working on a project, and meetings. David A. is very good friends with Joy Williams from The Civil Wars and husband Nate who live in Nashville.

He sure is popular in the Philippines. He has had 3 songs on the RT 30 chart for months now. Falling Stars is #1. I think he is the only Idol on the chart right now.

Not only in the Philippines, also in several Asian countries. David A. is the only one I see charting right now. Good Place is in the Hot Bubbling, hope it makes it. I’m still blown away by his Myrtle Beach concert.

It’s great that he’s being recognized for his philanthropy.

Anyone know how long Archie is going to be in Nashville?

Long enough to take the town by storm. lol.

No, just kidding. He hasn’t given fans a clue, actually. All we know is that he’s there to write some music, and he met for some reason with Victoria Shaw.
