Kris Allen Associated Press Interview

Adam Lambert on etalk

Adam Lambert Talks Gay Marriage – Adam Lambert stopped by New.Music.Live yesterday and during his candid interview with Lauren, Adam gave his thoughts on Jay-Z’s recent support for gay marriage. Adam called Jay a “gentlemen” for supporting a cause so close to the singer’s heart. “Everybody should be able to be protected by the law and have equal rights,” Adam tells Lauren. He insists both Jay-Z and President Obama’s public stance on gay rights is setting an example to others. We have to take steps in the right direction,” he said. Carrie Underwood and Ottawa Hockey Fans Make Nice – Country sweetheart and converted hockey fan Carrie Underwood thought she understood the passion of the sport’s most avid followers, but nothing could have prepared her for the backlash she faced when her husband, NHL player Mike Fisher, was traded to the Nashville Predators in February of 2011. – Read more at The Boot

The Shields Brothers Punch Yahoo! In The Face With Rock ‘N’ Roll – But that certainly wasn’t the last we’d see of the Shieldses, oh no. Since prematurely leaving “The Voice,” they’ve kept busy cranking out the covers on their hilarious YouTube channel; working with rock gods Bret Michaels, Ace Frehley, and Michael Anthony; and dropping by Yahoo! Music, where they recently played a couple original songs for Reality Rocks and indulged in a highly entertaining interview with me and my faux Purrfect cat. It was a magically Voicey day…and I finally got that Shields Brothers T-shirt I’d been coveting! See Rory and Tristan Shields serve up some Red Zone realness below… – See the Video at Reality Rocks

Arsenio Hall Tests Syndicated Talk Show Waters – Back in the headlines after his recent Celebrity Apprentice win, Arsenio Hall is mulling a return to the syndicated talk show circuit. I hear Hall has been in talks with CBS TV Distribution about a project that also may involve Tribune. There are no deals in place but if conversations materialize, Hall will likely film a presentation. CBS TV Distribution declined comment. Immediately following his Celebrity Apprentice victory a week ago, Hall spoke publicly of his desire to return to television in a more permanent fashion. – Read more at Deadline

I’m surprised you’d say this about Skylar, given you were such a big fan during the season :)  The fact is, I don’t think anyone has a crystal ball when it comes to later success – the music industry is such a complete mystery, even to itself. It’s possible that there will be a JHud in that mix of Season 11.  Maybe Hollie or Heejun [on a sitcom!] will break out.  Maybe Phillip will tank. In the years I’ve been watching, I’ve witnessed people absolutely sure that Siobhan would sell more CDs than any other Idol, or that Aaron Kelly would be the next Nashville sensation. It’s incredibly hard to know what will happen when they get in the studio.

What I do know is that Skylar has unusual force of personality, comfort on stage, and strong, clear vocals. She’s been known to interpret music very well.  Personally, I love her recorded music. [And last year, Bland & Blander did nothing for me. I still roll my eyes at Lauren's inability to be genuine on stage. But I know other people love her, so YMMV].  Will Skylar be the breakout?  Who knows. But I think she’s got drive and real chops.  She did a fabulous job with Reba.  I’m betting on Skylar.

Um, I write from the POV of people who murder other people and teenage boys, so I can guarantee you there is no need to only write about what you’ve experienced. :)

Does he talk about when he wrote this song because it seems very
strange that a happily married man would write a song about love from a
    place of anger?

What level of happiness the Allen marriage is at, only the Allens can know, but both Kris and Katy have talked about having fights in their current married life, so they admit to there being some anger at times. I think that a relationship without fights and some anger is probably rare, especially when it’s a relationship that has sustained at least two break-ups (In this interview, Kris mentions he broke up twice with Katy – once in HS and once in college – and I believe she’s also mentioned that she broke up with him at least once).

I would imagine that it’s complicated, like many relationships.

I think a man can be happily married and still have some anger inside of him… anger because he feels that he hasn’t reached his dreams yet or somebody just crushed his dreams, anger because his partner does not seem to understand what he really wants or doesn’t want…

Nice looking book… The promotour for that book will be a good way for the Chris Colfer fan to survive the Glee hiatus and get over the dissapointment that Chris Colfer’s character (Kurt) did not get what he was aiming for in Glee.

I don’t even think it’s that deep or unique.   I’m pretty sure that at this point, there are no women that Bruno Mars would literally take a grenade for, but there have probably been times in his life where he felt that he would do anything for a woman.  Everybody has experienced heartbreak and the ups and downs of a relationship, so anyone could write about these things.

Kris is not an idiot.  Every song doesn’t have to be taken literally.  And who knows how individual songs evolve.

Axxxel, the anger could have come from him not being able to get a chicken sandwich at his favorite restaurant. The anger wouldn’t have had to come from a specific person. Or, maybe he just wanted to write an angry or moody song.

I don’t think Kris is an idiot and I don’t believe I’ve ever called him one. From what I can see, I give him more credit for intelligence than he often gives himself, because he will say that he’s an idiot at times.

My opinion is that Kris is witty, intelligent, and quite deep. Not perfect, because who is, but a very clever, kind, and overall good person with a healthy streak of snark when it’s warranted and who frequently gets frustrated when other people try to place limits on the kind of person that he is or that he’s supposed to be.

I gave my opinion on LMN because it’s a song that Kris talked about in that specific interview. I mentioned that he and Katy fight because it’s something that both of them have mentioned in interviews; I mention that they’ve been broken up because he also specifically references that in this interview.

You don’t have have many contestants on Idol who proudly say that the best thing in the world is shooting little deers. If it isn’t polarizing I don’t know what is. If she isn’t stupid she knew it would cost her some votes. But I think that, at the end of the day, Skylar never bothered to tell who she really is, even if it would cost her to win. Furthermore, she’s a girl, if she watches the show she knew she wouldn’t win.

I was one of the people concerned that showing her hunting or talking about hunting too many weeks in a row could be harmful.  When they finally stopped that they had her ramming around on an ATV(environmentalist nightmares).  Her musical style wasn’t polarizing but maybe her lifestyle  prevented some casual voters from making the call.

Good for Skylar! I really want her CD (more now if there are Hillary Lindsey songs on it!) :)

There are many parts of the country where it’s considered a badge of honor to shoot and kill your own meat. Not everyone lives their life by The Ironclad Code Of Political Correctness. And I’m willing to bet many of her critics aren’t 100% vegetarians themselves. Unless you’re swearing off all meat entirely, you have no right to criticize people who provided you with the food that you ingest.

Also, Colton’s been writing with a lot of people, too, including Jason Wade, David Hodges, and Zac Maloy. Was that ever considered a topic for discussion on this blog, or is it not important because he’s too close to a WGWG?

Loved this answer, windmills.  And I actually threw some votes Skylar’s way this year–I’m rooting for all three of them–and can’t wait for the A&R processes for their albums:))

Scotty’s sister tweeted last week that she was obsessed with a song on a demo for the next album, hoped it makes the cut:)
