Jessica Sanchez and Daughtry perform at tonight’s Memorial Day concert in Washington DC. It airs on PBS at 8 pm.

Will Phillip Phillips — And ‘American Idol’ — Find Success After Season 11? – On Wednesday, American Idol crowned its 11th winner, when 21-year-old Phillip Phillips triumphed over Jennifer Holliday’s apparent new BFF, Jessica Sanchez, 16. Now, Phillip — a native from Leesburg, GA, who often drew comparisons to the likes of Dave Matthews during his run on the show — will test the tricky waters of life after American Idol, a place where some Idols have flourished (Kelly Clarkson; Carrie Underwood) and others have, well, floundered (Lee DeWyze; Ruben Studdard). – Read more at Celebuzz

‘Idol’ semifinalist Colton Dixon lets family, faith guide him – MURFREESBORO — There are a few things that are not debatable about ‘American Idol’ contestant Colton Dixon. He has a contagious smile, a great talent for both singing and playing music, and he is strong in his faith. From the beginning of his journey on Fox’s longtime running show, Dixon was open and honest about his faith, not only from a song choice perspective, but from his interviews, instigating prayers before and after tapings, and more. “I was raised in the Christian faith,” Dixon said. “My parents taught me the core belief system from a very young age. It is a part of who I am.” – Read more at DNI.com

Reinhart greets fans at Wheeling store – Haley Reinhart may not have received the “American Idol” title last year, but you wouldn’t know it from the devoted fans who showed up Saturday to see the Wheeling native at her hometown Wal-Mart. Kelly Clarkson: The superstar next door – It’s been ten whole years since the big-voiced singer Kelly Clarkson, 30, shot into the spotlight as winner of the first ever season of American Idol. At the time, experts gave her little chance of staying the course. Too girl-next-door, they said. Not polished enough. Not thin enough, either. But Kelly
has proved them wrong with a string of worldwide hits that includes ‘Since U Been Gone’, ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’ and the recent ‘Stronger’. Here the refreshingly down-to-earth Texan-born star talks about her relationship with music mogul Simon Cowell, how she’s learnt to handle the media scrutiny surrounding her weight and personal style – and how she finally found love. – Read more at DailyMail.co.uk

‘X Factor’ Tension: Simon Cowell Tells Demi Lovato To Sit In ‘Naughty Chair’ (EXCLUSIVE DETAILS) – Demi Lovato has done more than ease into the vacated X Factor judge’s chair — she’s also assumed Nicole Scherzinger‘s role as head honcho Simon Cowell‘s chief antagonist. The 19-year-old’s first day of judging the hit Fox show in Austin, Texas, involved a day of put downs – not just reserved for contestants. She put Cowell, 52, in his place too. A source at the auditions told Celebuzz: “Demi has really been brave with Simon, constantly reminding him how young she is and how old he is. “At one point she told the audience, ‘He’s just old and impatient.’” – Read more at Celebuzz

Glee star Cory Monteith takes a stand for at-risk youth – Before 30-year-old Victoria native Cory Monteith was belting out ballads on the hit TV musical comedy Glee, he was a troubled youth struggling with drug addiction and the issues that too often come with a broken home. These days he’s a goodwill ambassador for RE*Generation, a initiative to address youth homelessness supported by Virgin Unite, the charitable arm of Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group of companies. Metro sat down with the six-foot-three triple-threat in Vancouver on Friday to talk about how more than $50,000 in grants from Virgin Unite will help local at-risk youth. The money is going to the Broadway Youth Resource Centre, and a theatre program for youth called Project Limelight. – Read more at Metro News

Checking out some of the links for July 14 Showboat Rockfest & this came up quite impressive I’d say for James:

“Arrowhead Productions brings you over 18 bands on 2 stages for a full day of entertainment. The festival will be headlined by SEVENDUST and feature the best in today’s rock music including American Idol’s James Durbin.”

    Thanks!

For Jessica, she’s doing Live with Kelly and the Today show this week, so she’s fine. She’ll probably have some more appearances that she’s doing by herself, too.

The Kelly appearance is part of the Top 3 promo next (minus Philip).  It would be more to her advantage if she had a new single to promote, like Lauren Alaina had last year with Like My Mother Does.

The Axel comment has taken on its own life on twitter. Blabbermouth is usually pretty friendly towards James.(I mean the content not the basement-dwelling 14-year-old commenters.) But a headline blaring James Durbin calls Axel Rose a dick isn’t so friendly. James also gave Axel major props. Brandon Geist has been a huge supporter of James. But he is Revolver’s editor – not sure if he has editorial control over the blabbermouth website. Still, the whole thing from the Drowning Pool rumor – which made no logical sense whatever – to the Axel thing, it was uncharacteristic of Blabbermouth when it comes to James.
The thing that is different about James in the hard rock and metal world, is that he has the support of his peers and a lot of the press before he has had a chance to prove himself to audiences, who are looking askance due to Idol, and are therefore harder to win over. He is doing it, one step and one fan at a time. But I wonder if there isn’t some resentment that he has been so embraced by the metal artist elite and a lot of the rock/metal press. The fans like to be the ones who decide who is worthy. I wonder if they feel like he has been crammed down their throats. Just a thought.

Well they better get used to it because James is only going to get bigger.

The Prayer was charted but didn’t break the Top 50 in itunes. But her compilation > Journey to the Finale was at #9. Don’t know where it is now.

Yup, the girls have to be perfect! We guys, just need to be rugged or just plain guys! Movies says it all, the guy next door gets the perfect girl! :)

And that is the reason, girls should win more…they get more success than the guys….

Despite his coronation song “Home” making it to
No.1 on I-Tunes the day after his win, Phillips said that the song was
not really something he would write, describing it as “not the best
song for me.” “It’s a little too pop for me… but it’s a very
good song and I’m glad people like it. I feel like I’m a little more
rock than that, so hopefully people like what I have to put out, some
jazz rock stuff,” said Phillips, who counts Eric Clapton and Eminem as
some of his influences.   Oh why oh why did you go
against your true self and listened to others P2? Jessica could have won.
LOL! I guess he really wanted to win. So, he played the game! Good call!

I am so happy the entire PBS White House special was presented the second time even if it is rehearsal footage.  Jessica did such a GOOD job and Idol can be proud of her!  What a great opportunity for her, and also to meet Chris.

On one performance Jessica was barefooted as Ryan asked if she had heels on and she said no.  I think Idol interns must read forums and blogs.  When Idol spends lots of $$$ for a Fashion consultant and stylist, it makes me think Tommy had control over what most of the contestants wore.

Do you think Phillip’s “Home” wil be the “goodbye” song on Idol next season?  It is a really nice song.

“Jessica is charting…just not very high, because not that many people are buying her music. ”

Heard of many fans abroad wanting to buy her AI music but are unable to access USA Itunes.

At any rate let’s just wait for her first album, shall we? One thing sure, Ryan Seacrest himself appears to be eager to play her songs in his radio show as soon as her album comes out — that is, if we go by his comments in attached video …

As far as I know Revolver and Blabbermouth are not affiliated at all.  Blabbermouth is part of Roadrunner Records.

I doubt that this comment by James is going to mean much to people reading it, since Axl is well-known for being an ass.  Beat up his wives, self-proclaimed racist and anti-gay, stole money from his own band members, didn’t show up for his own shows.  I read once that he has the longest list of enemies of anyone in the music business and has had more beer bottles thrown at him while on stage than any other musician.  Axl isn’t a nice guy and seems proud of that fact.  But James better be careful with Axl – he could end up being one of the ones who gets punched by him like Tommy Hilfiger or Warren Beatty did.

I know, it doesn’t say all (or maybe even much), but curiousity made me check his twitter stats:

    http://twittercounter.com/compare/DurbinRock/3month/followers

Normally these days, he gains between 50 and 150 new followers a day (except for the Idol performance bump which gave over 2’000 new folllowers in 3 days), but on May 24th he gained 460, and on May 25th over 200 followers. The YT upload date of the interview shows as May 25th, but I guess it was for a rock radio station and maybe it aired there a day or two before?

Anyway, whether it’s coincidence or not, myself, I prefer people to have an opinion (even if I might not share it – I just draw the line when it comes to racist or  sexist slurs and such) than being tongue-tied and boring in interviews.

I wouldn’t worry about Axl taking a swing at Durbin:
    Tale of the tape:

Durbin: Age 23, Height 6’2″, Weight 215 (lean)
Axl: Age 50, Height 5’9″, Weight 200 (fat)

I’ll take Durbin in the 1st round.

Jessica performed 3 songs! The NA, The prayer which was phenomenal and God Bless America all flawless and very emotional renditions from the young 16 years old powerhouse vocalist!

Cute Glee pirates… Aren’t the fans of Dave Karofsky called “pirates” ?
Wonder who the 2 girls are… Darren’s girlfriend and Dianna Agron maybe ? Chris Colfer looks fierce , but I guess we will never see him like that in Glee…   :-(
