Interview: Kris Allen Discusses the Making of Thank You Camellia – It’s a big week for Kris Allen. On Tuesday, the singer/songwriter and season eight American Idol winner followed up the release his 2009 self-titled debut with his latest album, Thank You Camellia. The 11-track pop-infused album, which includes his inspiring single “The Vision of Love,” is something that the singer said had “been a long time coming.” Amid his busy album release day schedule, Allen graciously took the time to talk with me about challenging himself as an artist, getting to take a more hands-on approach with the album’s production, and which song off of Thank You Camellia that he’s excited to play live. – Read more at Seattle-PI

I did watch the video.  What happens is that Kris is going through an airport and focusing on navigating himself through the security, etc. while the TMZ reporter is yelling questions at him.  Kris basically grunts noncommittal answers in return.

So, this leads up to the reporter asking, “Maybe they should put it (AI) out of it’s misery?”  At which point Kris, who obviously isn’t listening replies, “I dunno.  Maybe.”  As he ascends the escalator.

It’s really a non-story delivered in typical TMZ fashion.  But at least they mentioned his album.

Listen to the clip. He didn’t say it was time to pull the plug. As Kris was walking through the airport TMZ told him AI ratings were low & asked Kris why, he casually said “I don’t know, man – maybe it’s just their time” as he went up the escalater. That was it – TMZ made up the headline and misquoted Kris – they love getting hits more than accuracy.

Interesting article from the NYT- I do like Jon Carmonica the critic.  He writes intelligently (sometimes to the extreme, lol) and isn’t afraid to give his opinion.
although he likes Joshua the best from AI 11 he also says that Phillip is the best WGWG of the last five; very interesting.  I didn’t read it in the headlines yesterday so am posting here.

“Mr. Phillips is the fifth fundamentally sensitive white male singer in a row to win, which probably indicates stagnation in the “Idol” voting base more than it does a resurgent interest in tepidity and middle-of-the-road rock. It is no small thing, and worth noting, that of these white men he is easily the best, not a dullard nor a mook nor a boy made good.”

Thanks for posting that! The video looks very intriguing and Adam looks wonderful (as always).

LOL. “Mr. Caramanica” is a pretentious contrarion – he loathes the popular on principal, and champions the quirky for cred. I don’t dislike Phillip or anything, and I do think he is a talented guy, but “Mr Caramanica” lost me when he described his voice as showing “real range and power”. Ok then.

When I did an Essay on, “Music as Popular Culture,”  American Idol was included in my discussion.   It could be a part of Sociology, Psychology, Pop Culture, and Business courses.
