Beautiful like Lee

And as anyone who’s ever dealt with Leon (Lee) DeWyze, they’d attest how much of a nice guy he is. This Chicago native, who sailed through American Idol season 9 all the way to the finals before eventually taking the crown, made sure he called his family before EVERY performance, and openly declared that all the contestants on the weekly show were part of his family.

Jordin Sparks Shares Her Slim Down Secrets!

Jordin Sparks wowed the crowd on Thursday night when she returned to her former “American Idol” stomping grounds to perform her new single, “I Am Woman, ” and although the performance garnered rave reviews, the Season 6 winner says she doesn’t remember any of it!

“Honestly, I was [shaking] — ‘Idol’ always does that to me whenever I come back because it just brings back a whole flood of memories — all good, some slightly traumatic, ” Jordin told Access Hollywood at KIIS FM’s Wango Tango concert in Los Angeles on Saturday of her return to the famed stage. “I always feel like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m stepping on the stage…I’m being judged again.’ But instead of it just being the three judges, it’s the 30 million people watching! I was very nervous.

Selling ‘The X Factor’

Fox’s upcoming “X Factor” may walk like “American Idol” and talk like “American Idol, ” but it’s not being sold to advertisers like its singing network sibling.

Using lessons learned from the way some of the nation’s flashiest marketers — think Coke, Ford, AT&T and Apple — have been woven into “Idol” over the years, Fox and show producer FremantleMedia are adopting a very different and significantly more complex model for “X Factor.”

Rather than counting on a thimbleful of advertisers to carry the program for the entire length of the season, the two will instead broaden the field.

How Does a Network Build a Fall Schedule? Fox’s Scheduling Chief Reveals the Strategies

Today kicks off Upfront week, when all the focus in TV land is on the bevy of new shows the networks are ordering (and the old ones getting the hook). But true TV obsessives won’t just be looking at the shows, they’ll be scrutinizing when they’re airing. It’s all about the grids: Which new series are facing off against weaker holdovers, what big hits are being moved against each other — and will anyone finally put something good back on Saturday nights? Fact is, for all the talk that DVRs and Hulu have made schedules irrelevant in the modern TV era, the networks still take which shows go where very seriously. A decision to shift American Idol off of Tuesday nights could’ve cost Fox millions had it gone wrong; instead, it’s helped the network finally become a player on Thursdays and made Bones an even bigger hit. So just how do these timeslot chess moves get made? Vulture rang up someone who would know: Fox’s head of scheduling, Preston Beckman, who has 30 years of gridmaking experience. During his busiest and most critical season, we asked him to give us a peek into the process, letting us know just what goes into the crafting of a fall schedule. How much is commerce, how much is instinct, and how much is strategy?

Glee’s Max Adler Reveals Slushie Secrets and Karofsky’s Future

“I’m taking it pretty seriously because it’s representing a lot of people. Especially after this prom episode, ” he tells us. “To change that many people’s lives from a TV show…it’s making a big difference. So, when I get the script, I take it pretty seriously.”

When we sat down to talk bullies and 7-11 drinks, Max gave us the inside scoop on what he sees for Karofsky’s future, plus a pretty great description of a slushie attack. “I think Chris described it best. He said it’s like getting slapped in the face with an iceberg, ” he laughs.

Dannii Minogue has gone from X Factor, but will she be missed?

Dannii Minogue, we hardly knew ye. You came into our lives as the superfluous fourth X Factor judge, enraged Sharon Osbourne, said the word “pitchy” quite a lot – and now you’re gone. Question is: will anybody miss you?

It might be easy to suppose that they won’t. If you had to make a list of all the things that Dannii Minogue was famous for, her musical ability would come below “being related to Kylie Minogue’, “doing some adverts for Marks and Spencer”, “starring in Home & Away ages ago” and “briefly going out with one of Bros”. Dannii hasn’t had a top 10 hit for seven years, and chances are you wouldn’t be able to hum any of them anyway. She’s not exactly an authority, is she?

Dancing’s Chelsea Kane: Mark and I Are “Back on Track”

Chelsea Kane is just three dances (and a couple million votes) away from a spot in Dancing with the Stars’ final three, and she can’t believe it herself. “I knew when I went on [the show] that a lot of the viewing audience had absolutely no clue who I was, so I was really afraid that I would be going home [early], ” she tells TVGuide.com. “The fact the fact that people who haven’t seen me before have invited me into their home and have voted for Mark [Ballas] and me into the semifinals is just amazing. I’m so flattered and I’m really having the time of my life.” The Disney star has her work cut out for her this week: Besides two individual routines, she will face off with the other three couples in a winner-takes-all cha-cha with 15 points on the line. But after her and Ballas’ heart-to-heart about his ‘tude towards Len Goodman, Kane says the duo is “clicking better ever.”
