Details emerge of May 14 ‘Durbin Day’: Santa Cruz Boardwalk show for American Idol set to begin at 5 p.m.
Durbin is slated to appear on the bandstand at 5 p.m. to sing no more than four songs. An hour before, the popular White Album Ensemble will take the stage to warm up the crowd, then serve as Durbin’s band once he arrives. Durbin’s first experiences performing for general audiences were at WAE concerts in 2008. He will sign autographs after the performance. The show will be free, and seating is on a first-come-first-served basis. The performance will be shown on “American Idol” the following week.
The city of Santa Cruz is currently in discussions with “American Idol, ” in conjunction with Durbin, on the activities leading up to the 5 p.m. show. Such activities could include a parade or motorcade and other meet-and-greet activities.

American Idol Contestant Casey Abrams Returns Home
American Idol contestant Casey Abrams made it back to his hometown of Idyllwild Friday.
He went back to visit his school, The Idyllwild Arts Academy. When asked how it feels to be home, he said “coming back here it’s weird completely unexpected, children going to the same school you went to it’s exciting, it’s weird.”

Jam Festival to feature American Idol winner
Ruben Studdard, winner in the second season of “American Idol” (2003), will star in a May 15 concert in Wetumpka. Other special guests will also perform.
The Wetumpka Jam Festival will be held in the park area behind the city administrative building. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m.
The concert is part of the promotion, casting and fundraising for an upcoming movie in which Studdard is involved — “The Hair Affair.” Actor Donnie Klang has also been cast in one of the movie’s lead roles.

At this time no reason has been given for changes in Hudson’s routing, although a representative for the artist told Pollstar that a revised itinerary will be announced soon.
As of Friday afternoon the following shows are postponed: Reno (June 17); San Francisco (June 18); San Diego (June 19); Los Angeles (June 22); Las Vegas (June 24); Grand Prairie, Texas (June 29); New York (July 6); Boston (July 8); Toronto (July 12); Prior Lake, Minn. (July 15) and Washington, D.C. (July 23).

Gary is a judge on X Factor
TAKE That star GARY BARLOW was yesterday hired as a judge for this year’s X Factor – alongside veteran LOUIS WALSH.
Gary, 40, will replace SIMON COWELL, who’s off to front the US version.
Louis, 58, returns for his seventh year.
Last night a source said: “Louis has been told he’s back – and Gary is now a definite.
“Gary knows the business inside and out. If anyone could replace Simon, it’s him.”
The Sun can reveal that Destiny’s Child star KELLY ROWLAND, 30, is in talks for the job vacated by CHERYL COLE, who is joining Simon in the US.

Just a day after her appointment as a judge on X Factor USA was confirmed, Cheryl Cole has arrived in Los Angeles.
Looking stylish in a red leather coast, and jeans with bright lipstick, the 27-year-old looked focussed as she arrived at the airport terminal.
Her glamorous appearance was a little different to her more casual attire at Heathrow airport when she arrived to catch her flight more than 11 hours earlier.
