‘American Idol’: Contestants open up about ‘big balancing act’ of juggling producers’ opinions

Reinhart, who has been in the bottom three four times this season, admits it can all be too much.

“There are a lot of opinions and it can eat you up. A lot of them are contradictory, and that’s the part that gets me,” she said. “You have to meet in the middle and do what you feel as well. It can be tough, but we’re getting through it.”

McCreery, who has gotten plenty of criticism for being too ballad-heavy, said he changed his arrangement of King’s classic “You’ve Got a Friend” from an upbeat one back to a ballad, as “everyone was giving their opinion.”

“They always tell us that it’s our choice. They are very nice about it,” he said. “It’s like, ‘It’s your choice, but here’s my opinion.’ ”

Melinda Doolittle rates the ‘American Idol’ Carole King Night for HitFix

Carole King is my hero! When you can write song so well that anyone sounds good singing them, you automatically achieve hero status. Wow! This was an amazing night on Idol. At this point, it’s anybody’s game. I loved the feedback that Jimmy Iovine and Babyface gave the contestants this week. I think they are really taking time to bring out the artistry (as Kara DioGuardi would say) in each contestant. So here are my thoughts about each contestant tonight. I’ve put them in order from most favorite to least favorite. I even critiqued the duets. Well…most of them. :-) Let me know if you agree.

Blake Lewis: ‘Haley and Casey Have Great Chemistry, James Has My Vote’

I was really impressed with three people — James, Haley and Casey. Each of their performances was unique.

James got my vote, last night, singing “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.” It was beautiful and J.Lo said it best: He is consistent every week. The arrangement of this piece was just amazing! I really liked hearing his tone by itself at the beginning. It was heartfelt and really showed the sensitivity of his voice.

A Guide to How You’ll Feel If Each of the American Idol Contestants Wins

An American Idol victory can inspire a whole host of emotions: Sometimes, you’re thrilled that the right person won (Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia); other times, you’re simply indifferent (Jordin Sparks); and once in a while, you struggle to even remember the winner’s name (we’re certain that a Lee Something won Idol at some point … help us out here?). But how will we feel when one of Idol’s six current contestants takes the prize, and can any of them inspire us to actual anger? Vulture’s taken the time to chart out the complex range of emotions you’ll feel if each contestant wins, from beginning to end.

James Durbin Rocks ‘American Idol’ Memorabilia On eBay

It’s that time of year when we make a completely arbitrary judgment on which “American Idol” finalists might end up in the winner’s circle based on the profusion of weird junk being offered for sale under their name on eBay.

Unlike the truly bizarre homemade fan stuff we’ve seen in the past honoring Adam Lambert and Jason Castro, most of the top six remaining on season 10 have failed to garner the same level of crafty goodness in their followers.

As his status has slowly risen on the show, though, and he appears headed for a possible spot in the finale, rocker James Durbin has clearly laid the smackdown on the competition when it comes to eBay action.

Video: Steven Tyler: I Write Songs With Johnny Depp!

What’s been the biggest draw to moving from his Boston hometown where the band formed in 1970 to Los Angeles? His new network of A-list pals!

“I get to write songs with Johnny Depp,” Tyler enthuses to Lauer during the chat, set at Tyler’s L.A. pad. “I would have never done that being home [in Boston]. He plays music and I call him [and say] ‘I’m coming over, we’re going to write a song together.’ He’s like ‘yeah, come over…tell me if I’m playing “Seasons of Wither” right,’” Tyler adds, referring to his band’s 1974 hit.

‘Glee’ scoop: Patti LuPone to guest-star on season finale

The cast of Glee are currently shooting the season finale in New York City and hitting various Big Apple landmarks like Tiffany’s and Times Square. Good for Jordin. I am glad the NA went to one of them. She is becoming the queen of the NA.

That NY Magazine article is kind of hilarious.

Funny but also, I think it reflects a growing surge of support for Haley. At this point, she’s the only one I have even a mild interest in. And at the beginning of the season, I thought she was odd.

What a great thing to dream of. A girl winning AI!

Jason Aldean Not Picky When it Comes to CMT Trophies

“As far as one in particular I would like to win, it doesn’t really matter. I haven’t had a chance to win a ton of awards so far in my career, so I’m not choosy. Any of them would be fine with me. But it would be nice to win the award for the video with Kelly. That duet has been an amazing song for us, and has been huge for my career, and getting to work with her has been so great. Kelly is probably my favorite female singer out there, so to win an award with her would be pretty cool. But like I said, I’m not picky, I’ll take any of ‘em. If it happens to be that one, that’s awesome!”

  • abbysee

I would love for Haley to be the darkhorse to win it all, even over my beloved Scotty, and Casey. I think she’s the best vocalist left, I think she could be marketable. She’s smart, sexy, talented…,. nevermind, she I forgot, she doesn’t stand a chance, lol. Durbin’s got this thing in the bag.

I love reading this kind of thing. Jason is really growing on me a lot, I love his album.

I was hoping either Kris or Jordin would get the NA before the Derby, so good job Jordin.
