Jennifer Lopez Talks ‘Idol,’ Her New Album and What She Thinks of Steven Tyler

It’s been a big week for Jennifer Lopez. Yesterday she released a new single, “Papi,” while People magazine called her “The Most Beautiful Woman In The World.” That’s in addition to her previous single “On The Floor” shooting into the top 10 – her best chart performance in nearly a decade. And of course, there’s that whole judging American Idol thing… Yes, Lopez is owning the pop-culture conversation again, and she seems pretty okay with that, as a conversation with the star at a Los Angeles Best Buy – where she was promoting the Blackberry Playbook tablet and the pre-order for her new album, Love?, due out May 3rd –about famous exes, going Gaga and fellow Idol judge Steven Tyler made abundantly clear.

Idoloonies: Jimmy Snubbed! Haley Redeemed! Stefano Reconsidered! And Randy Silenced!

On this week’s three-part installment of Idoloonies, my cohosts and I discuss the outcome of this uprising — both positive and negative — plus the results-night redemption of Haley Reinhart, the unfulfilled promise of Paul McDonald, and the advice that Idol‘s increasingly inept judges’ panel ought to be giving to Stefano Langone. Along the way, you’ll get bonus clips from Buffy and Community, some sweet music from “artist” Randy Jackson, and an interesting viewer theory on why Pia Toscano’s ouster may have had a chilling effect on the remaining crop of Idol wannabes.

Hey, ‘Idol’: Why not get rid of the judges for a week?

The “American Idol” judges this season are also the biggest fans of the contestants. They are setting the bar higher each week for how complimentary they can be to the remaining finalists, and the platitudes gush out like product-placement Coca-Cola from the soda fountain.

But while the feel-good style of rating the singers may allow everyone to go to bed with a clear conscience, it doesn’t seem to be the best way of judging the show.

Bo Bice brings country to Coach House

Season four contestant of “American Idol,” Bo Bice continues to sing and perform music for his fans while also trying to remain grounded and true to himself.

With a musical talent that Bice says he’s had all his life, he believes that there was not a time when he was not singing.

“I started with singing from a really young age,” Bice said. “My first bit of exposure was at 9 years old.”

Darren Criss’ Secret To Meeting Gwyneth Paltrow On ‘Glee’ Set: Dental Floss

“I had to kind of go out of my way to say hi because I was so star struck,” Darren told Access Hollywood on Tuesday as he promoted “Glee: The Music Presents The Warblers” album. “My character doesn’t go to the school. We’re doing our own other show, we shoot in a different area, different people, so I was on set once and I pretended to go get floss or something completely arbitrary [to bump into her]. ‘Oh, hi! [I’m] Darren. Gwyneth? Nice to meet you.’”

Despite their absence of on-screen time together, Darren said the Oscar winner is a joy to be around.

“She’s very sweet. She’s been very kind to me. She’s been very amazing,” he said.

In Brad Paisley’s cover story for Billboard he talks about the songs on his upcoming album track by track. There’s also a picture of Brad and Carrie at Brad’s home studio that Cary from CF scanned: http://i54.tinypic.com/1zb9awz.jpg

Here’s what Brad said in relation to Remind Me:

    “REMIND ME” (FEATURING CARRIE UNDERWOOD)

“Part of the history of country music is the history of George Jones & Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty – the momentous duets. Getting to know Carrie, and becoming best friends essentially, I’ll have a hard time collaborating with any other girl singer. We really have a magic that I think is apparent when we host the Country Music Assn Awards. It was a thrill to again collaborate with who I think is the greatest singer that we have – as well as one of the greatest that we’ve ever had.”

Questions for Ken Warwick: I’d love to hear his take on Pia singing on DWTS. It’s unprecedented for those 2 shows to be collaborating seeing as they’re ratings rivals. Also they’ve mixed in more specific theme weeks instead of all the open ended weeks they were saying they had: why? Lastly are the judges being given earpieces to listen to what the audience can hear on TV?

Questions for Ken: MJ, are we only allowed to ask Ken questions about this season and its contestants, or can we go back to last season? If we can, I’d like to know why Lee hasn’t been scheduled for more tour dates in the US. I feel like I have to move across the ocean to see him. Many fans are very disappointed. I hope this topic is acceptable! Thanks.

  • Kirsten

If we can, I’d like to know why Lee hasn’t been scheduled for more tour dates in the US.

I’m not sure that is a Ken question. Lee is managed and signed to 19Alphabet. Ken works for Freemantle and is mainly involved in managing the show.

Possible Questions for Ken (because I’m mean):

    1) Why has this year been so much better at keeping the show running on schedule? Things seems to be running so much more seemlessly this year. What changed?

    2) Can we expect to start hearing the contestants sing two songs starting Top 5 night like we used to get?

    3) Why not let the contestants sometimes sing songs that are a little longer? Typically, they are only 90-120 seconds long. Sometimes, songs need to be longer. Perhaps when there are fewer contestants?

    4) Of the episodes aired so far, which one would Ken submit for “Emmy Consideration”?

    5) Are the judge’s being encouraged to provide constructive feedback? If everybody is good, then does it matter who America “sends home” this week?

    6) Could the approved song list be provided after each performance show? We bloggers would like to do some monday-morning quarterbacking.

    7) Ken, you are frequently on record as blaming the the Season 9 contestants for being boring and hiding behind their instruments. How did the producers and the judges miss that these contestants were boring before the contestants were cast? As the producer, why did you not place limits on the number of times instruments could be used last year? Ken, as executive producer, do you have any blame for what went wrong last year? Do you, Ken?

  • windmills

Kirsten: 6) Could the approved song list be provided after each performance show? We bloggers would like to do some monday-morning quarterbacking.

Didn’t we used to know the cleared songs based on them getting featured in a playlist on ITunes? Whatever happened to that anyway?

I’m thinking they don’t want to embarrass themselves considering how pitifully short such a list would likely be.

  • Valentin432

Didn’t we used to know the cleared songs based on them getting featured in a playlist on ITunes? Whatever happened to that anyway?

We got a playlist last season but Arron Kelly said during an interview that the real songlist was much shorter than what we had access on itunes (which was already very short).

Not idol related, but Gaga has lost it:

    http://www.theprophetblog.net/lady-gaga-flips-out-over-madonna-plagiarism-claims

Not a good sign one month before the album release. Jimmy and the interscope people need to get a grip on her pretty fast.

Does she seriously want us to believe nobody saw the “Express Yourself” comparisons coming? That’s what the whole world was thinking about within minutes of that release.

  • bridgette12

At this point and time, I don’t think anyone can control GAGA, especially not Jimmie and Interscope. The amount of money she will make them, will be a the biggest factor to let her do whatever she want. Yes she’s out of control, but the only thing that would affect her would be a serious dip in sales and lost of endorsement.

  • tinawina

Eh. Gaga is going keep everyone talking about her one way or another, that’s for sure. Smart cookie that one.

Porn!Adam is back! I get a kick out of that. I’m kinda of enjoying his downtime, he keeps coming up with new hair adventures. It’s fun. LOL

The only thing we should ask Ken Warick is when he plans to resign.

If that’s my only laugh today, it’s a good one! I <3 you Kirsten! :-)

  • alison8701

Gaga should be happy. Very rarely are people forgiven for having songs that sound like an old classic. She is the only artist who, in the same breath, people say sounds like Madonna but is also revolutionary.

People acknowledge it’s a rip off but “love it anyway.” Same thing when Alejandro sounded like Ace of Base.

and “Judas” is terrible. But she’s going to be worshipped anyway. She should be glad!

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

I am not sure why people think Gaga is revolutionary. She can play the piano and sing. That song was a rip off of “Express Yourself” and I too have a hard time picturing it as a shock to her and her people. I have always thought she was trying to “out-Madonna” Maddona, and that just seals it for me. It will be interesting to see if she can re-invent herself so many times as Madonna or Cher.

  • Leena

MJ, Thank you for the David Cook interview! I certainly hope he will also tour in Europe this year, especially come to Finland where I live. TLG is already doing well on the iTunes chart here, as I saw on DCO where people quote charts etc. DCTR was in TOP 40 here for about three months.
I have to go the Internet on Friday to see what TLG sounds live -we will see that AI program at the beginning of May since we run about 1,5 weeks late in broadcasts here.
I love this blog, I have to come back here every day – this and DCO take a bit too much of my time, though………………….:)

    Questions
We seem to hear many the same songs every year? Any chance of clearing more songs?

Since Pia will be performing on DWTS–will the others that are booted after her be afforded the same opportunity? If not–why not? How would that be fair?

Jimmy Iovine’s presence on the show seems to be stifling the contestants creativity. We really haven’t seen many songs flipped like other years and having those great water cooler moments. Is this due to Iovine and the other producers doing the arrangements–or is it because the songs have to be recorded so quickly for itunes that the contestanst don’t have the time to be creative?

If a contestant is really a musician like Casey or Paul or like Crystal last year–what is the problem with them using their instruments?

Speaking of Crystal–will she be on the show this year? Seems the runner-up always made an appearance the following season.

Is Will.i. am a permanent fixture or will there be other types of artists sitting alongside of Jimmy? I think it would be nice to have some other opinions.

  • sma11ie

MJ, here’s another David Cook interview from this morning:
    http://radiosophie.radio.com/2011/04/20/idol-winner-david-cook-picks-this-years-winner/

The headline’s a bit misleading. He was asked for his fave and he mentioned Casey as his “sentimental guy”, i.e. he’s still rooting for him based on past brilliance, and “hopes he sticks around a few more weeks”, i.e. he won’t win. That’s not at all the same as picking this year’s winner, but that’s radio for ya. Anyway, there’s a bunch of David’s radio interviews this morning. The CNN (Cook News Network) is gathering up as many as possible right now.

  • Sassycatz

    To Ken:

Since Pia will be performing on DWTS–will the others that are booted after her be afforded the same opportunity? If not–why not? How would that be fair?

David Cook is sick in the head. He said he wants to do 300 shows in this cycle? I love that he’s insane like that.

I second these questions, I really want to know this.

  • standtotheright

We seem to hear many the same songs every year? Any chance of clearing more songs?

This, this, a thousand times this.

Although I would be more than delighted to have Kirsten run her entire set of interview questions, in an interrogation room, with the flood lamp behind her.

David Cook is sick in the head. He said he wants to do 300 shows in this cycle? I love that he’s insane like that.

Am I the only one who read that as “two-year world tour?” I don’t think he was literally planning on doing 300 show dates in 365 days.

ETA: Trina, I didn’t hear all of them, but someone recorded the Sirius interview, and he said that TLG was a deliberate effort to go uptempo and get out of his “wheelhouse.”

  • Trina

James’s tweets this morning are skeering me. Sounds like hes letting the crazy fly again tonight oy. I may need a strong drink for this.

I cant listen to any of the DC interviews so was there anything of substance in any of them?

  • desiree_chick

    Questions for executive Ken Warwick:

Why does Jimmy Iovine hate Stefano?

Why do the producers hate Haley?

Why was Paul, aside from Rock and Roll Week , always in the first three performance spots?

    Was Casey’s “elimination” a fix?

Why is Pia promoted so hard since her exit? Is she signed yet?

Why Scotty and Lauren are always paired for a duet?

Do the judges really love everyone?

Why does James Durbin get a famous guitarist and Jacob gets the writer of the song he performs to perform with him?

Do the producers like Haley now after that amazing duet?

Is Scotty really going to win American Idol this year?

Is there anybody else who can be in the finale aside from Lauren and Scotty, and possibly James? Anybody? Anybody!!?

Will most of the contestants continue to be this predictable?

Are you as scared as I am that these kids will perform *gasp* MODERN MUSIC FROM THIS DECADE?

Lastly, can Rickey Minor come back? Please?

  • gangreen29

    I have some questions too.

    1) When did they realize there was a problem with last years group? What was the thought process behind the casting that year?

    2) Has there ever been a contestant you regret not putting through to the semifinals?

    3) What exactly was the limitation on instruments this year, are people only allowed to use them certain weeks, or a certain amount of times?

    4) Are there any changes from this year you don’t think will be kept in following years? What are some changes you would like to see on the show eventually?

    5) How many more years do you foresee idol being on the air?

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj

MJ, are you going to blog The voice? (Presuming they don’t show the entire premier in advertising videos.)

Maybe. There’s too much going on premiere night next for it to get a lot of my attention initially. I’ll probably do a post wrap up after I’ve watched it on Hulu.

If it does OK ratings wise, I’ll probably blog it more thoroughly. If it’s a bust, it won’t be worth my time–kinda like how I handled Paula’s show.

  • standtotheright

Oh, I do have one question:

I think that the duet and small group performances on results night have a lot of potential to better showcase the contestants’ strengths than the big group numbers, which I often found awkward. Has the reaction to those segments been favorable or are people still really nostalgic for the “pointy poses?”

  • colette

I think the big thing “The Voice” may have going for it is THE CHAIRS. That and whatever get-up CeeLo has on….

Lots of singing and dancing, LOL.

  • windmills

lla2827: Speaking of Crystal–will she be on the show this year? Seems the runner-up always made an appearance the following season.

    I’m curious about that too.

Whether or not Crystal’s back on AI this year CMA Fest just announced she’s booked to play CMA Fest’s Riverfront Stage shows as is Bucky Covington.

Friday, June 10: Frankie Ballard, Bucky Covington, Brett Eldredge, Jo Dee Messina, Randy Montana, Heidi Newfield, Sawyer Brown, Phil Vassar, James Wesley, and Darryl Worley.

Saturday, June 11: Crystal Bowersox, Jason Michael Carroll, Billy Ray Cyrus, Steve Holy, Lonestar, David Nail, Corey Smith, Mel Tillis, and Chuck Wicks.

By the way if you look at the scan of the picture of Brad and Carrie in his home studio you can see a little red boot peaking out from underneath the console. That’s probably Brad’s 4 year old Huck, who was in the studio with them impressing Carrie with his mighty feats of strength ;)

    3) Why not let the contestants sometimes sing songs that are a little longer? Typically, they are only 90-120 seconds long. Sometimes, songs need to be longer. Perhaps when there are fewer contestants?

I think that the answer to this is financial. Allowing a song to be even 30 seconds longer means a loss of about $485,000 for idol.

According to Advertising Age, Idol is the most expensive commercial buy of any series on TV, with a 30-second spot going for an estimated $485,000. Now you know why there are so many commercials, especially in the two-hour format. There is easily 20 minutes worth of commercial breaks each hour. That times two adds up to $38.8 million in gross ad revenue from each two-hour Idol.

Lauren just tweeted that she is super nervous for tonight. Too bad. I want her to perform when she’s not. Ha. James is excited to be super crazy.

I want to know why Jimmy hates Scotty and how does he feel when James/Casey etc reject his advice.

I would also like an itunes album of the duets.

Also, I’d like to know what the new winner’s contract is.

(The people’s votes/Idol doesn’t reflect on who Jimmy will put effort/money into so winning doesn’t mean much) BUT I’d like to know if all signed contestants would be signed by Jimmy or would perhaps UGM Nashville sign like the country stars or only Jimmy keeps all Idols

I think Scotty and Lauren are the only ones that are in school 3 to 4 hours a day. We know they don’t get near the practice that other Idols do and their schedule is different so it would make sense they duet together.

  • HappyDaisy

Ken, why did you cast Steven Tyler in the role Ellen played last year?

Ken, why did you decide to make the results shows more interesting than the performance shows?

Ken, are we going to see baseball cap guy and billy.i.was every week now until the finale? Are they going to duet on the finale?

  • Mel1

I want to know why Jimmy hates Scotty and how does he feel when James/Casey etc reject his advice.

I don’t think Jimmy hates Scotty. I think he’s trying to give him advice to try and extend himself. Jimmy knows that Scotty will only become more popular if Scotty does something other than the same-o week after week. Scotty just keeps rejecting the advice.

  • sma11ie

I cant listen to any of the DC interviews so was there anything of substance in any of them?

Trina, I haven’t heard them all, but I was lucky enough to catch the 93.3 KC one, which was nice and long. He actually said this album would be different than the last one because it’s got a lot of “open wounds” moments or something like that. He talked about being on the road and not having time to process all his highs and lows of the past few years, including Adam’s death, and that when he finally got off the road to write this record, everything hit him “like a ton of bricks”, so he was dealing with all of that when writing this record, and that it was the most therapeutic record he’s written. I was pretty surprised he mentioned that, but I think he tries to be more giving with his hometown station interviews. So yeah, lots to look forward to for the rest of the record, for those who found TLG too light or poppy or whatever.

In other news, apparently, someone found an HAC impact date of May 2nd? That’s cool. I’m wondering if they’ll try CHR. He has a Top40 add already– from his hometown station, of course (actually, I think the 93.3 station I just mentioned), so it’d be nice if he gets one eventually.

  • sr4mjc

Sounds like James is preparing another smoke and mirrors song to cover up his vocal issues. Maybe he read the comments that slow songs do him no favors.

Aww, sorry to hear Lauren is nervous. The girl has a great voice, but just seems defeated lately. She’s the antithesis of James ;)

  • Trina

Thanks for the info re: the interviews!

I dont think Jimmy hates anyone especially Stefano. Stefano is like the only one who seems to follow anything he says. Jimmy may make some half assed decisions but in his own way hes probably trying to advice these kids the best he can.

Why does James Durbin get a famous guitarist and Jacob gets the writer of the song he performs to perform with him?

If he were to actually answer this he would probably give the same exact answer James gave or relay the story Zakk Wylde told. The producers did nothing except allow the performance to happen.

Seems the runner-up always made an appearance the following season.

    Diana and Kat didnt.

eta: aww Lauren. I hope she gets the pimp spot tonight. She deserves it by now.

If you look at the response James gets on Twitter any vocal problems are rarely mentioned, but he hes usually encouraged to “rock out’. I notice hes has A LOT of male fans and they seem to be the ones who encourage it the most.

  • Valentin432

For the sake of NBC I hope The Voice does alright, it seems that they’ve put a lot of their chips into that show and have been promoting it non stop.

If they continue going downhill and Football doesn’t come back, their ratings will go the way of the CW

Listening to his interviews, I’ve noticed the script that David’s on:

New Judges, new show, great contestants! Meet old friends from show, Steven’s a riotblahblahblah!

    LOL

  • Kirsten

I think that the answer to this is financial. Allowing a song to be even 30 seconds longer means a loss of about $485,000 for idol.

LOL. Yes, they are never going to cut a commercial, but maybe they could trim the intro clips or something? Aren’t they limited as to how many commercials they can run per hour (I thought there was some upper limit set by some organization as a consideration to the fact that they are using public airwaves or something). If they are, fill the non-commercial seconds with songs!

Another question for Ken: Since Freemantle is also producing X-Factor, will you be in charge of that show as well? In other words, is it doomed?

    Diana and Kat didnt.

The best Diana ever got was to sing in the chorus last year during Simon’s fairwel song.

Lauren just tweeted that she is super nervous for tonight.

Haven’t the coaches frequenlty said that she is nervous during rehearsals? Hopefully, she will pull herself together again.

Sounds like James is preparing another smoke and mirrors song to cover up his vocal issues. Maybe he read the comments that slow songs do him no favors.

I think he’s just like a kid in a candy shop with an indulgent parent. Everything he asks for, he gets. So, his dreams just keep getting bigger. He has stopped worrying about strategy, but you are right, that his smoke-and-mirrors conveniently also helps to hid his vocal flaws.

His post-Idol life will be sobering.

Am I the only one who read that as “two-year world tour?” I don’t think he was literally planning on doing 300 show dates in 365 days.

Oh definitely! I wasn’t thinking Cook could fit in 300 shows in 365 days either; just not logistically possible unless a bunch of shows are like 5 songs each. But still, being on the road for two-years with 3-4-5 shows per week with breaks here and there is still coocoo for Cocoa Puffs. But he sounds like he really loves it.

    Another question/s

Why is the supposed failure of season 9 blamed only on the contestants? Why don’t the producers and judges take the responsibilty?. Why did you all start pimping Lee so much when it was obvious Crystal was the most talented and probably responsible for viewers tuning in more than any other contestant?

(I hate seeing Crystal being lumped in with that lackluster season. She would have been a contender in any season including this one–THE BEST SEASON EVER–LOL)

New Judges, new show, great contestants! Meet old friends from show, Steven’s a riotblahblahblah!

Well, can ya blame him? It’s the same Idolblahblahblah questions in every interview! He has to get through them, say something gracious about the show and the people involved while sounding somewhat convincing. He can’t very well bring back the stage chicken from PorkBeans and squawk at them ;).

  • Incipit

Listening to his interviews, I’ve noticed the script that David’s on:

hypertwink, you’re right – that’s the consistent message for each inteview – (most people don’t listen to all of them – just their local market) and David is good about staying on task and hitting the points – The single is out, the album is coming in June – He’ll be on Idol tomorrow night to sing “The Last Goodbye” – the rest is up to the interviewers, within their time parameters..

“..being on the road for two-years with 3-4-5 shows per week with breaks here and there is still coocoo for Cocoa Puffs. But he sounds like he really loves it.”

Yeah, Keel he says that’s his fav. part. I say – thank God, as his friend from Tulsa days once said, he has “the voice of a lion.”

This time, maybe he’ll get to go overseas, too, and still try to satisfy the demand Stateside. And good for him! But – I’m not getting any younger here – so that’s a long time til the next album…when it’s all about me, it looks different. *snerk*

Can we provide questions for Cook’s radio interviews? How many times can someone ask about the show. Poor guy has to do hundreds of these things. He should call in and play a tape recording and save his voice for Thursday! 1 day away!!!!! So excited!!!!

  • claudette

Lauren, to my knowledge has never tweeted that she was “super nervous” before a show. In fact, in one Idol clip, she said she was more nervous for results show than performance. She must be doing something different or maybe she is finally going last.

On the flip side, James is super pumped. He’s going to a full on rock show tonight. I think that has kept him out of bottom 3. He provides the excitement, and people seem to like it. It does make me smile that he’s excited as a child would be. I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes last. Or, I wouldn’t want to go after him.

  • sma11ie

Sorry for post-ho’ing here, but there’s no separate David Cook thread in which to park myself today =P.

I thought this was cool- a fan tweeted Andy Skib (the keyboardist/rhythm guitarist/backup vocalist in David’s band) about the BG vocals in The Last Goodbye and he responded.

#fall_forever: Some of the vocals (cant tell who it is, I think it’s a @kylespeek/@andyskib/@thedavidcook combo) in The Last Goodbye sound like Temper Trap

#andyskib: @fall_forever I think you might be right

Soooo… cool. Confirmation it was the band and David doing the vocals, in case there was any doubt.

  • hoosiermama

David Cook woke me up this morning. Unfortunately it was CBTM on my radio, not TLG! Since my local station is still playing the crap out of his old material, I’m pretty sure that’s a good sign that they will play the new one soon. (Don’t know if the DJ said anything about the new song since I turned the alarm off and went back to sleep–hubby gets up at 5:30, not me!)

That was perhaps my favorite tweet of the whole album era:

More singing today in the studio w/ @KYLESPEEK & @thedavidcook. We sound just like the guy from The Temper Trap…

Google actually brought that up on a basic search. I guess I wasn’t the only one who liked it.

  • sma11ie

Nice find, standtotheright, that tweet was from August 3rd! I also recall this tweet from David on “gang vocals”- this was from July 27th. I loved the expressions on their faces… it’s like, why are we singing so high? Hee.

#thedavidcook: Some of the gang doing some gang vocals. Gang. http://yfrog.com/f1epebj

Awe the baby is such a cutie. Adam doesn’t look bad himself. Just so adorable.

    .

Wow, they did this song forever ago.

And it does sound like Temper Trap in the background. LOL

  • standtotheright

    Aww, baby stank face!

Seriously, he’s super cute with those giant headphones on.

  • HappyDaisy

Darling pics, CindyM, thanks. Adam looks great.

  • aa618892

Aaaagh! Those Adam/baby/Sauli pics are killing me. Adam looks seriously dreamy. What’s with the baby in headphones, lol.

  • Dakota01

CindyM, thanks for posting those pics. Adam and Sauli are so cute together and baby Riff is adorable! I imagine the headphones were to protect the baby’s ears from the loud music as they were at a listening party.

Duh! Here I was thinking it was some new age child raising thing, haha!

Did I say Adam and Sauli make one hot pair?

David is a Casey Abrams fan!

Oh goody, let’s all vote for Casey now because David is a fan. To each his own.

I guess that debunks the theory that he was sent back to the drawing board for a viable single. This song was recorded last summer.

AI tour news! I just got my weekly newsletter from Mix 106.5 (San Jose, CA radio station), and it lists two Bay Area AI concerts this summer: Oakland July 12 & San Jose July 13. Sounds like the tour will start on the west coast like seasons 6-8.

Hey – you can if that’s what floats your boat!

Personally though, I don’t feel much for Casey at all. I prefer Haley this season.

David Cook or David Archuleta likes Casey? I like when people say Archie or Cook. It’s less confusing. :)

Sounds like James is preparing another smoke and mirrors song to cover up his vocal issues. Maybe he read the comments that slow songs do him no favors.

I’ve read that on a lot of music blogs. They all comment on James flaws when he slows it down. He does best when he does heavy metal. When he slows it down it really highlights his vocal flaws. But again isn’t that the way with all metal singers? I still can’t figure out what they’d do with him if he got to be top two. Metal doesn’t sell big and his voice is made for metal. Coming from Idol will do him no favors in the metal world either. It’s tough enough getting cred coming from Idol but Metal? Good luck guy.

  • Mary102

OMG those Adam, Sauli, Riff pics just totally made my day, you have no idea!! They are so adorable together! Adam and Sauli make such a hot couple. OMG! I had a busy day and couldn’t step away but just saw those and unf yes, love!

  • JazzRocks

I love the pics of Adam, Sauli and Riff & Co! Not surprising I know. :) But These are especially gorgeous – and you can see the start of the facial hair. Reddish.

    NYC is hotter right now!

Nah, just the bad ones ;) Queensryche, Scorpions, those dudes sang the hell out of some slow songs.

Great interviews today with David Cook. Now we know 4 songs that are on the record. The Last Goodbye, Paper Heart, Rapid Eye Movement, and Goodbye to the Girl. That lyric he quoted from Rapid Eye Movement (R.E.M.) was pretty sweet. Standing ‘O’ to the Joanie that asked the question about how he got the name for album. In case you missed it, it comes from a lyric in R.E.M.

ETA: Here’s the lyric that David mentioned: “Give me one more quiet night before this loud morning gets it right and does me in”
