I know about Demi Lovato. My cousinà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s kids like her, not as much as Miley but hey. she was on Camp Rock with Joe Jonas!!1!1!! Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m just surprised since Archie outsold her. But hey, John Mayer likes her, I should like her too. Not. I still havenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t forgiven her for inflicting the world with that heinous à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“This is Me.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ 

Circumstances and timing, really. It was her tour–Hollywood planned it–so she gets top billing. Hollywood is a strange label–they often don’t push their artists’ songs to mainstream radio (until they are deemed “worthy” I suppose), and even then they are very hit and miss in that department (moreso than other labels), and they rely a lot on the Disney brand to get their artists out there, but when it comes to putting together a tour, they’re pretty top notch. Yeah, David has outsold her in both albums and singles. But David doesn’t have a TV show and he wasn’t in a Disney channel movie. Demi is probably bigger with that particular audience, even if she isn’t bigger overall. Jive is pushing David to the youth demo this summer–and that’s probably the best time to do it since school is out. There’s plenty of time to concentrate on everybody else.

BTW, “This Is Me” was a soundtrack song. She kind of had to sing it. And the worst part of that song was Joe Jonas’s vocals.

I’m not too familiar with DL — no one in my house watches the Disney channel and my girls are not JB or MC fans (to put it mildly ) — but I did a quick imdb search and Lovato seems to be an up and coming star with a new TV show and a movie in the works. (Which translates in the young music scene as good exposure, I suppose. And that should work in David’s favor, too.)

So why was Frankie on American Idol?

Frankie Avalon had a #1 hit record the year Simon was born. “Venus” was number 14 in sales for 1959. He had several hits throughout his career. JoJosie explained this very well. Frankie is still a cutie to this Grammie! :clap_tb:

So is she a legit artist? Ask John Mayer, who has been publicly Twittering with her and singing the praises of this young singer/songwriter. MTV reports the following:

Back in January, before all these tweets, Demi actually told MTV News that she will be taking a page from the John Mayer playbook for her next album, due out this summer. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s going to take a different sound, so hopefully it goes over well,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬  she said. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“I sing a lot of rock, but this time I want to do more John Mayer-ish type of songs. Hopefully, I can write with people like him. I love their music – it would be amazing.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ 

David and Demi have met and seemed to hit it off very well; they held a genuine appreciation for each otherà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s music.

Whoà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s headlining, Demi? Srsly? I would have thought that Archie would be headlining, becauseà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ hello, Demi Lovato?!

It was Demi’s tour first–David was added to it recently. Hollywood has been planning her tour since January. So this may be something like Miley’s first tour, where the Jonas Brothers opened for her. They had their own fan base by that time, but she had a big following from her TV show.

Demi is actually a lot more popular than it would seem. She’s the new, classier, more talented Miley Cyrus. She just hasn’t been around as long. She writes her own stuff, plays piano and guitar, and today John Mayer tweeted that he loved her song “La La Land” and that he thinks she’ll be around for awhile (not that John Mayer’s word is law, but it’s interesting). Hollywood/Disney is transitioning her from popular because she’s an actress, to popular because she’s a singer. And I suspect that her next album will probably sell really, really well.

The only date with both Demi & David that is up on Ticketmaster (and the one that spilled the secret) is the XL Center in Hartford. That’s the same venue the Idol tour played last summer. So it’s an arena tour.

“Our Very Reliable Source let us know that David will be touring with Demi Lovato this summer. The tour dates will be announced soon. I think the idea was to announce everything at once, but ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s all good.”
