As far as American Idol mansion being a prison, well you get what you sign up for. I don’t pity any of them. They’re young, it’s just a few months of their lives. You have plenty of time to get the “chicks, man.”

Personally, I think it’s a free country, and we’re ” supposed” to be able to have free speech. When you look at the ap confessionals, they were all talking about life in the mansion this week. Anoop is the only one who mentioned anything about the privacy issue, and I think he was just speaking honestly, not necessarily griping about it. All in all, despite the restrictions (which, let’s
face it, are pretty understandable) nobody really seemed unhappy about living there.

That photo of Ace Young and David Cook together (in the NY Post link) is just a little too much AI gorgeousness for my brain to handle this morning.

They’re both hot, but Ace is the pretty one and David is the sexy sensual dirty one.

The surveillance article didn’t make sense to me.

Just a few weeks ago, Adam was out and about at something where he saw someone that used to be on Top Model that he’s friends with or something? I don’t know the details, but he was definitely out and about and it was definitely recent.

I just don’t know if I buy that it’s as strict as it was saying.

I do understand AI’s desire to have it be somewhat strict though – their show/brand could be hurt by anything that occurs during the season.

I sympathize with the contestants over the house situation. The lack of privacy would really wear on me and this is already one of the most stressful situations I could imagine. You need time to yourself or time to get away and blow off steam and it doesn’t sound like they get any. I would go berserk.

I heard that the 10PM curfew is for the night before performance nights. So Mondays and Tuesdays. And I do think they get Sundays off. That’s what I’ve heard in the past.

I’m sure they can go out but obviously a driver has to take them to wherever they want to go.

Carrie isn’t much of “an entertainer” but I’m sure that has little influence on who actually gets handed this ‘prestigious accolade’.

I adore Carrie and I would love to see her take the win, but I’m afraid she would get hit with some backlash. I have many country music fan friends who love her too but feel like an honor that huge is too much too soon for her.

Honestly…David Cook has admitted to having body image issues. I can totally understand it from his viewpoint, though I don’t have the same issues. He’s not the one with the beefed up body. He’s only the one making totally nonsense of the pic…I totally heart hands it. I believe it proves that so many people just don’t understand nor care to do so.

Entertainer of the Year means you have to have a consistently great live show, having never seen Carrie perform a concert live, I cannot say, what about those that have?

well i have seen carrie live and she actually puts on a GREAT live show! she has great crowd interaction and her voice live is ridiculously amazing, even her band and staging work well with her presentation

but the award “Entertainer of the Year” is about more than just a live show. It encompasses Ticket sales, album sales, songs on the radio, and media presence throughout the year

Carrie is more than deserving even at this early stage in her career. She has sold more albums than the men in the category, been featured in the media more, had 4 #1 songs, and played to 1.2 million people live this year

her qualifications speak for themselves, putting her right up there with Kenny and the boys as far as #’s, so we shall she how the industry fans, vote this year

True, powerful, clear vocals aren’t “in” right now on mainstream radio. :down_tb: Probably one of the reasons Leona’s “I Will Be” failed to make top 20. But he’s got songs on his album where he can use those vocals–especially the ballads.

The power of aging. lol. Yeah, his lower register has developed since last year. You can hear it most readily when he sings the lower parts of “Angels” as compared to when he sang it on the show. Yet his upper register has developed as well, so he’s gaining notes on both ends.

Thank you for posting HGTA. Archie’s pitch is spot on and his key change on the last part is quite wonderful considering he was singing acapella. AHHHHHH, lovely.

Yes, I’m sure Carrie does sing HGTA quite amazingly, but IMO, David does as well–given the situation in which this was sung. Just to provide a little perspective, there’s a reason why David doesn’t “sing the crap outta” this song here. If he were in a different, non-church setting, I imagine he might infuse the song into more of a performance, belting it out with gusto, complete with runs galore. However, he sang this song for an LDS church fireside and those who perform hymns in this setting are expected to not turn hymns into “performances” so as to keep with the spirit of the meeting. I imagine David is trying to be respectful here in maintaining that goal and I think he succeeds quite beautifully.

Yea, with some songs simple is better.

Archie don’t need nothing but his voice and spirit for this song. It’s not about singing for an audience but about singing for the soul.

Carrie sings the crap out of everything, therein lies the rub. Sometimes it’s just not appropriate or called for.

Archie’s was perfect for the occasion as it wasn’t about him, but about reverence to God. I think he succeeded by a country mile.
