MJ, I don't know how you stay sane managing this blog. :)

As far as the whole 'david reading book' issue, i personally don't give a crap whether or not he's a big reader. he could read a ton or not at all and i'll like him just the same!
i am 23, and i am not a big reader AT ALL. maybe it's partially from being assigned so much to read when i was in college, that it makes me never want to pick up another book again. but i get bored with books very fast and i'd prefer to spend my time with people building relationships and making memories rather than being by myself with my nose stuck in a book. and i personally don't think how much a person reads tells avery much about them as a whole. JMHO

But you are right that it is possible that they have come to a different conclusion. I am just very so curious as to why they still care so much as to constantly make comments.

It's not your place to ask. Not here. Just allow your fellow posters their opinions without the defensiveness, the assumptions, and the questioning of their motives. Disagree with their opinions, yes, but please leave it at that.

That's what I keep suggesting in this thread over and over and over again. And why I've been editing comments.

If the criticism of David bothers you so much that you can't follow my guidelines, you might consider stepping out of the thread.

From the things some people say about him, I doubt they are his fan and have followed him closely. And their comments often mirror things that the media has said.

I just wish those that only look at what the media has said about him would look closer and see the person that he is.

Maybe they have, and they've drawn a different conclusion about David than you have. YMMV and all that stuff that should be unnecessary for me to mention.

As a person who has followed David very closely since AI, I can tell you that he is very mature in many ways and is very strong about what he wants to do and who he is. The "influencers" on David have done a fabulous job with him and he wants them there heavily in his life for now. He may change his mind later.

Of course he will grow. We all do, but the depth of feeling that we hear in his music comes from an "old soul" as Paula said. I just wish those that only look at what the media has said about him would look closer and see the person that he is.

BTW, DA greatly respect Donny Osmond as a person and a musician.

"Now, heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s just starting to see a bit more of the world, although still managed by his father. I believe that David was gifted with a beautiful voice. I very much look forward to the time when heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s notched some living out in the world, free of his parents, and begins pouring that into his music. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m very interested to see what kind of progression weà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll hear in his music as he grows fully into manhood."

Yes Sir or Madam, ICAM!! If DA doesn't grow as a person he will become another Donny Osmond which would be pure tragedy because we so need male pop singers with great voices and DA's musicality. I have a feeling that he is very open to growth whatever it may entail, the trick will be to get from under the many "influencers" in his life and be his own person.

^^ No, there was a show early on that was oversoldà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬'canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t recall which one, though.

I think the Lancaster, PA show was over sold from reports online and also the Sayreville, NJ show. Pretty much any of the shows that sold out quickly may have been over sold including HOB Chicago.

The book misprint in the Archie interview had me cracking up for a good few minutes. I'm glad he's getting good book recommendations from Jason and enjoying them. From a previous interview, I know he enjoyed the Harry Potter series as well and those are books that people of all ages have enjoyed.

The only comment I'll make here about David A. is that he will grow up, big time. Everyone does. Life is not a foot race. Most of us 'get there.' If David seems less mature to some (in some ways) than other 18 year olds, so be it. To others, and in other ways, he seems wise. If a teenager's criteria for 'liking him' has to do with looks or the cool act the majority strive for in middle and high school -- well, he doesn't need that kind of fan. If their criteria is the voice, the musicality and/or the songs, then I hope they don't let David's personal choices alter theirs.

I guess Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m just shocked in general that our society has come to a point where to some freedom of religion has become freedom from religion. That ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s okay to look down on those who make religion a large part of their life, as if theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re missing out on something. Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s just a different way of life, and one that makes a lot of people very happy. So whatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s the point of attempting to open their eyes when what youà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re seeing may not be any better than what they are.

I'm asking everybody to knock it off.

And I don't care how morally justified you feel in dishing out a big ole lecture, please don't do it.

And that includes the defensiveness when a poster says something negative about your favorite idol. Thereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s no need to mock or pile on here. Really. Archie doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t read here. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll survive the criticism.

I completely respect that. I was just taken aback at somebody saying that the Book of Mormon is an unhealthy book to read--to me that's completely different than saying something negative about DA; that's saying something negative about an entire religion. Maybe I misunderstood, but it sounded like that. Obviously, it's not the only book that DA reads, just all that he really has time to read right now. He's a religious guy. Some people read the Bible everyday. Not just way-out, overly-conservative people, either. That's his religion, and it's expected he reads that book. I'm not LDS so it's not sacred to me, but I respect that it is sacred to those who have those beliefs.

I guess I'm just shocked in general that our society has come to a point where to some freedom of religion has become freedom from religion.
Always happy to help out a fellow book nerd Hermy :D I love all kinds of genre but my specialty is fantasy and scifi. if you like science fiction, check out Peter F Hamilton Night's Dawn trilogy: The Reality Dysfunction, The Neutronium Alchemist and The Naked God. Warning, these books I recommended are all huge books will take you weeks to read but very very worth if you like this kind of stuff.

Gettingback on idol, the AI broadcast over here is 3 weeks behind. I happen to watch it last night and every time it goes to commercial, Elliott Yamin pops up "I am Elliott Yamin and you are waching Fox no1 1" that was cool!
