Queens-bred ‘Idol’ fave makes NY proud

“When I was a little girl, I would say, ‘Mom, I don’t want to go to college. I don’t want to leave you guys, ‘ ” she told The Post.

“I was always very sheltered. I was actually really nervous to go to school in Manhattan” at La Guardia HS for the Performing Arts, the “Fame” high school.

“I come from a very old-school Italian family. I am still not allowed to stay out past a certain time.”

Haley Reinhart eager to jazz it up some more on ‘American Idol’

The morning after Haley Rein-hart landed in “American Idol’s” bottom three, she’s being shuttled in a car somewhere with two other people babbling loudly in the background. She sounds drained.

The 20-year-old Harper College student got the full treatment Thursday night from Ryan Seacrest: an on-camera escort to the Stools of Doom, an ill-timed commercial break, psycho-torture fakeouts. Finally, she learned that Ashthon Jones would be going home, not her.

American Idol fans rally behind Suddeth family

Fans of Lauren Alaina Suddeth are rallying behind the singer with their votes as well as fundraising efforts to help her family’s travel expenses.

Lauren, Rossville’s teen singing sensation, is a finalist and judges’ front-runner on Fox network’s “American Idol.” Should the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School sophomore continue to advance, she could remain in Los Angeles as many as 12 weeks.

“Idol” pays for one parent to stay with a contestant who is a minor. All other family members or friends must get to LA on their own dime.

Fisher trade crushes girl’s dream of dinner with Underwood

OTTAWA — Mike Fisher broke the hearts of many Ottawa Senators fans when he was traded away.

Now, Carrie Underwood has crushed the dream of an Ottawa girl who was set to have a private dinner with the country superstar.

Liberty Aliferis was so excited after her parents Aik and Afrodity bought a private dinner with Underwood and Fisher at a charity auction in November at Fratelli’s restaurant in Kanata. Ottawa businessmen Nick Pantieras and Jimmy Zourntos also bid on the dinner and were also to be guests at the dinner planned for Aliferis’ home on Winding Way.

When Fisher was traded to the Nashville Predators in February it put the dinner in question. And now Aliferis understands that the dinner with Underwood and Fisher is not going to happen.

Think you can travel, Simon?

NIGEL Lythgoe will be jetting in to London from Los Angeles every week to film BBC show So You Think You Can Dance – showing pal Simon Cowell it CAN be done.

“Nasty” Nigel, 61, has agreed to the gruelling 12-hour commute so he can also fulfil his duties as executive producer on American Idol. Beeb bosses feared he would not return after landing the million-dollar gig on US telly.

But he will be back with fellow judges Arlene Phillips, Louise Redknapp and Sisco Gomez when the show returns on March 26.

Nigel Lythgoe and So You Think You Can Dance Alums at the Los Angeles auditions

Los Angeles Auditions for the upcoming season of So You Think You Can Dance took place in Los Angeles over the weekend. Look who came to visit!

Nigel tweeted last night, “We are still auditioning. I am now exhausted. Filming with the Idols first thing in the morning and back out to SYTYCD in the afternoon.”

Jennifer Lopez Features Lil Wayne On Next Single

Steven Tyler isn’t the only “American Idol” judge trying to make the most of a double dose of weekly prime-time exposure on TV’s biggest reality show. While Aerosmith’s back catalog has gotten a boost thanks to its prominent placement on “Idol, ” fellow judge Jennifer Lopez has parlayed her spot on the program into the highest-charting single of her career with “On the Floor.”

And over the weekend, she revealed that she’s got a strong follow-up single ready to go. Speaking with fans during an online chat, on Saturday, Lopez said she’s finished a song called “I’m Into You” with Lil Wayne that will be the next single from her still unscheduled Love? album.

Jennifer Lopez has tackled music, movies and fashion all while raising a family, but the one arena that almost proved too much for the entertainer was reality television.

“I know I’m a passionate person and I know I’m an emotional person, I just didn’t expect it to hit me in that way, ” JLo said of her widely-publicized emotional breakdown while judging an episode of “American Idol” in February.
