‘American Idol': Scotty McCreery to cover Taylor Swift?

Could “American Idol’s” resident country boy Scotty McCreery be putting his own spin on one of Taylor Swift’s songs during his run on FOX’s hit show?

Possibly. When Zap2it caught up with the 17-year-old at “Idol’s” Top 13 party on Mar. 3, we ran the idea by him. Guess what? He didn’t hate it.

“Maybe! Who knows? She’s great, for sure! I might able to pull that out,” he says.

‘American Idol’: Scott McCreery Promises He Can Do More Than Country

It’s hard to imagine this deep-voiced singer belting out anything but country music, but “American Idol’s” top 13 finalist Scott McCreery says he’s got more up his sleeve than we’d expect.

“People don’t know, but my first couple auditions that were preliminary before the judges, I sang Frank Sinatra and John Mayer. I do different stuff and I’m in a classically trained choir in school,” McCreery told us at a recent “American Idol” top 13 event.

So if “Idol” throws Broadway or Latin his way, he can step up? “Of course,” he confessed. “It’s tough and it’s not me, but I can do it. I might stay true to me and true to my genre, because country is who I am, but I think I can pull through.”

Scotty McCreery Says Josh Turner Is ‘Proud’ Of His ‘American Idol’ Run

“I actually met him the day I auditioned for the show at a meet-and-greet,” McCreery revealed. “He sent me a message today, and he just told me he was rooting for me and that he was proud of me. So that meant a lot to me.”

With regard to what McCreery plans to sing during the 10th season of the reality singing competition, the 17-year-old hinted at a few big country names and accepted our suggestion that he take on fellow deep-voiced singer Trace Adkins.

Kelly Clarkson in Spider-Man?

Someone posted on the ATC Broadway board that a high-profile visitor to Broadway’s troubled Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, who is famous from American Idol, might have gone as a precursor to possibly taking over one of the roles in the show.

That’s pretty vague–someone please turn off the dark–but occasionally the comments thrown at the wall on that board turn out to be almost sort of semi-true.

And the person in question sounds like Kelly Clarkson, who became famous under the gaze of Simon and the gang, and who did indeed see Spidey not long ago.

Does she sing well in double harness?

Kelly in Spider Man? No thank you. The safety issues have lost them cast members and why should Kelly expose herself to those? Plus the show’s gotten terrible reviews and the whole saga of it has been an epic trainwreck.

Brad Paisley interviewed with K102 this morning and there was lots of Carrie talk. He of course talked about when Huck met Carrie and what Huck thinks of Mike. He also talked about the duet Remind Me which is the 1st confirmation we’ve had from him. He said he had a hunch that he needed to write one more song for the album and that he pushed back his album for it. He wasn’t even done with the song when he called Carrie about it but he finished writing it the next day and then she flew in and cut the song. Brad said he thinks they’ll send it to radio. I hope he’s right!

I’ve been away a few days and am confused too about what is/isn’t going to be different regarding “live” shows this seasons. In the past, when Ryan’s said “live,” it’s been really been live, right? Or not exactly? And this week, I assume Ryan won’t be saying “live”? What part does the media have right/wrong?

In the past, when Ryan’s said “live,” it’s been really been live, right? Or not exactly? And this week, I assume Ryan won’t be saying “live”? What part does the media have right/wrong?

Okay, here’s the Cliff Notes version.

    1. In seasons other than 8 and 9, some of the early performance episodes were taped in front of a live audience prior to the date the show aired. This is what Fuller means about “they’re performing live, even though it’s taped.” The implication is that there’s minimal editing, mostly to keep the show length tight, and that what the TV audience sees/hears is essentially what the live audience saw.

    2. Most episodes have always been “live” for the East Coast but taped for other time zones. This is how Idol can be on during prime time in every time zone. So what California sees are the same performances as New York, but a few hours later. I vaguely recall some instances in which the edit for the West was slightly different from what the East saw, usually during the final recap of performances.

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj

    So season 6 then? LOL.

That’s not my point. It’s completely different this year with the Semi-finals cut down to 1 week.

In the past, by the time the finals started, it was already the FOURTH week of live shows. No need to tape at that point. Tech issues? Worked out.

If I am remembering this correctly…back in Season 3 the all three weeks of the semis were taped, PLUS the first week of finals…at least.

  • Mary102

I guess the only thing so far that makes me a little nervous about the taped shows is hearing about the Jordan comment that was cut – about how the song was given to him. That’s an example of how tptb can manipulate the comments and feedback to alter people’s perceptions, rather than keeping things completely live and spontaneous.

That said, the judges CERTAINLY need some help, as does the timing and sound, and if a few taped shows can help with that, I’m ok with it. If the taped shows last more than another week or two, though, I’ll be more suspicious.

  • sr4mjc

I have a mental block of Season 6 and even before on how there were so many semi weeks.

  • Mary102

Oh, hello new blog format! Just noticed, MJ! I like the comments pages links on the bottom :-)

Thanks all. I think I’ve got it now about what is/isn’t different about the “live” business. Should be such an interesting show this week for all kinds of reasons. I’m really looking forward to it.

  • Keel

Hmmm . . . an April 9th appearance for Cook at a radio station promo event? Does that mean a single announcement is imminent? He’s kept himself pretty far below the radar during the album creation process and he typically does not make appearances unless he’s specifically promoting something, so I tend to think his being scheduled for a radio station appearance on April 9th means something. :)

  • tinawina

Hmmm . . . an April 9th appearance for Cook at a radio station promo event? Does that mean a single announcement is imminent?

It will be interesting to see how RCA handles Lee now that RCA promo for David C. gearing up and Kelly right around the corner. That’s in addition to new release from The Strokes & Avril coming.

  • standtotheright

With Cook doing all this new promo, does he actually have an album drop date yet? Or any hint of a single drop date?

I think they’re pacing the press releases.

    1) Boot song + upcoming album
    2) Big upcoming radio show in big HAC market
    3) Album date with tracklisting

Or maybe he’s going to share some stuff right now and make me a liar. We’ll see.

I understand what you are saying because I am a regular at this blog. But I still think it stinks. And just saying that if you have to go all the way back to season 3 to find a week of finals being “taped” then this is relatively new information to the general public and media alike.

if you have to go all the way back to season 3 to find a week of finals being “taped” then this is relatively new information to the general public and media alike.

Making a huge distinction between the semi-finals and the finals is splitting hairs, in my opinion.

I heard the Vegas station air DYFAM, but I missed the interview.

  • Eileen99

Courting HAC stations first for the first single? This is Vegas right? Pretty big market

Kris did this event last year, and I remember it was heavily promoted. IIRC, they had a big turnout.

  • tinawina

Well, Idol has to have a controversy every season, right? I guess tape-gate is it this year.

But I have to say, this is one of the silliest ones ever to me. TPTB has been manipulating the competition live for 10 seasons, now all of a sudden everyone is worried that they will do something that hadn’t been done before? Pimp spots, amped up production values for particular contestants, songs mysteriously unable to clear, weird judges comments, mike issues, strategic pre-performance interviews… all employed on the live shows. Every year. Now, they a pre-taping some shows like they did for 7 seasons, and IT’S SO UNFAIR!!!! What show have y’all been watching? It wasn’t “fair” in any season! What else is new?

Anyway, the singers will still have to do their songs in one take in front of a live audience and massive press, who will all be able to call out TPTB if there are big discrepancies between what happens that night and what makes it on air. The rest will be business as usual IMO.

So David Cook and Kris will both be there?

Making a huge distinction between the semi-finals and the finals is splitting hairs, in my opinion.

Perhaps. And because you know the show so well maybe it’s not much of a big deal to you.

But when the semi’s were over and they finally cut it down to the real competition I always liked knowing that the show was live and anything could happen. I guess it all comes down to personal choice. I’m watching again after skipping last year mainly because my fiance wants to watch. But we’ve both decided that if the taping continues into the top ten we’re through.

  • FREIDAG

Every year. Now, they a pre-taping some shows like they did for 7 seasons, and IT’S SO UNFAIR!!!! What show have y’all been watching? It wasn’t “fair” in any season! What else is new?

    Thanks.

  • progression

So David Cook and Kris will both be there?

Dave is playing Vegas and Kris is playing Florida, I think?

Looks like TPTB plan to give the boot song a radio push. If it takes off, I wonder what that would mean for the timing of releasing a single off the new record?

Well, reports were Jovanny got more than one take. But no one really reported on it, or Jordan’s remark about song selection of OMG. I think something will have to be big before anyone reports anything, those little subtle things will go unchecked.

HAC will be much easier to work than pop for his first single IMO. HAC is his core format and many stations still have his 3 previous hits in rotation. One of the main DJ’s on WPLJ had said a couple of months ago after playing CBTM they were really eager for new music from him.

Some peeps on Twitter said Ryan played a snippet of DYFAM this morning..? This is definitely getting some good promo for him and its a good way to get him back on some radars.

Kris did play at the Vegas Pet-a-Palooza show last year. It was a huge crowd — I think the radio station said something like 20,000 (plus their pets)? So it’s a good place for David C to kick off his promo

    Thanks.

I’m pretty sure its been answered already. I think you already know?

Put it this way… once the voting rounds started, it was common for them to pre-tape the first few weeks. That’s what they are doing this year. But, since this is the first time the semis were only one week long, the pre-taping is bleeding over into the finals. And since there is a new band, new director, and new judges this year, it seems like a good idea to continue to practice if they want to avoid the really error prone live shows of the past 2 years – when they stopped doing the tapings for the first few weeks.

But you are of course perfectly free to feel upset, and I am perfectly free to be confused by the sudden alarm. Neither of us are alone. LOL

as long as all of you nice people are answering questions about the Idol show’s current standard operating procedures, i’m wondering if someone would help to answer mine, even tho it may have been asked recently and perhaps i missed it: why are this year’s contestants allowed to promote themselves and/or their bands via their own recordings or youtube videos? i thought that in the past, videos on youtube had to be taken down once the contestant began participating in the actual show. i am certain that this was the case with Casey James from last year. thanks MJ, and all other knowledgeable bloggers!

  • tinawina

Well, reports were Jovanny got more than one take. But no one really reported on it, or Jordan’s remark about song selection of OMG.

I can’t edit, so I have to post ho. Sorry.

Jovanny got a retake because the camera messed up and they only got it from one angle. Obviously, it did nothing to help him. And even though some of the favorites did mess up, they were not allowed to tape it again.

The editing out of Jordan’s remark WAS covered by the media in multiple places, including the high traffic Yahoo and EW websites.

    Word!

But when the semi’s were over and they finally cut it down to the real competition I always liked knowing that the show was live and anything could happen.

The competition is real in the semis. People eliminated from the semis are gone from the competition (with one minor exception in Season 4 when a finalist quit). It’s not a pre-season game where the results don’t count. They totally count. And with the number of people in the semis going home each week far exceeding those that go home during any given final week, the impact of any producer shenanigans would be larger and more likely to get you eliminated.

The press and Idol spoilers are going to be there with ever watchful eyes. If something major happens (Lauren sings like a cat in heat live but suddenly sounds in tune when the show airs, Durbin gets to do-over 12 times or Paul is water-boarded on stage before he gets to dazedly perform) we will hear about it. Then, and only then, will I go crazy with the recriminations.

  • standtotheright

Looks like TPTB plan to give the boot song a radio push.

I think I’m going to need to hear more than one full spin of the song, outside the context of an interview, before I really call it a “radio push.”

Personally, I think the production hews too closely to the original 80s sound to really get much traction, synth-pop revivals aside (when’s the last time you heard the XX on your radio?). So I don’t think they’ll muddy the waters for no real benefit.

  • Kirsten

why are this year’s contestants allowed to promote themselves and/or their bands via their own recordings or youtube videos?

I think it is because the producers finally got a clue. They realized that when people get invested in contestants, they tune in. If they tune in half way through the season, letting them get to know what that person has done earlier will help, not hurt.

The scorched earth policy they had before just made fans bitter. Why not generate a feeling of good will among all? If Tim happens to move a couple of CDs, will it really reduce the number of Lauren’s CDs sold (or will the Tim fans be happy that Idol let them have some of his music and not despise the eventual winner and spend half their time scouring the internet to vote thumbs down in on Durbin on every poll they find)?

  • cookbunny

    Trina:

Wow he actually named a favorite on AI this season? I’m pretty shocked, hes never done that. (He said Casey apparently)

And next week he’ll say Paul, then the week after he’ll say Pia, the the next he’ll say “it’s so hard to choose, they’re all so talented”…WTF?Dave does this every year.

Season Eight he changed it up each week but said his favorite all season was Nick Mitchell (Normund Gentle), so take from that what you will.

  • tinawina

I think I’m going to need to hear more than one full spin of the song, outside the context of an interview, before I really call it a “radio push.”

ITA… if this was his lead single, they would have said so in the press last week. It’s just the boot song, no one cares if it gets on the radio. 19 is not spending money on that. BUT, if it gets a little bit of morning show DJ chatter and accompanying snippet spins, then that’s just fine and dandy for all involved.

I think it is because the producers finally got a clue.

Its about time IMO. They have been dropping the ball on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and the like for years now. Better late that never I guess!

Idol fans would *never* do that.

  • FREIDAG

I’m pretty sure its been answered already. I think you already know?

Good morning and thanks for questioning my reason for posting! If I already knew I wouldn’t have asked. I’m having trouble reading the posts on the new format so if the answer was definitively given I didn’t see it. I’m also have trouble posting.

Thanks but MJ already explained this to me above and I understood her perfectly.

    Great response. Thank you.

  • ri

well Kirsten, i thought of that. and yes it makes perfect sense. but every time Idol does something logical, i question it. after all, encouraging the promotion might just help the contestants AND the show in the long run. because they chose to screw themselves in prior years, i just didn’t understand where their voice of reason suddenly sprang from, lol. i think you’re probably right. thanks.

  • gangreen29

The idol website has the top 24 performances up on their website. I guess they will be putting up the videos all season. That is new, right?

  • tinawina

Yikes! LOL I didn’t mean it like that. I just meant you already read the answer even if you didn’t realize it. Sorry for the confusion.

sr4mjc, It’s up on youtube – but the mp3 sound is much better. This should do til you can get home, though. CNN was blazingly fast this morning.
    YouTube Link

Ach! Connection dropped – or the site went down. Anyway.

  • Kirsten

i just didn’t understand where their voice of reason suddenly sprang from, lol.

I think this might be an idea they pinched from X-Factor. Before, Idol would basically go silent between episodes, but X-Factor is constantly leaking all over the news. It creates a feedback loop of buzz that just grows and grows. I don’t know if X-factor allowed twitter accounts, but it certainly encouraged youtube videos.

  • meyers77

ri i thought that in the past, videos on youtube had to be taken down once the contestant began participating in the actual show. i am certain that this was the case with Casey James from last year.

Well they might have to take down their OWN YouTube channel. But I remember seeing Casey’s, Crystal’s and Lee’s pre-idol stuff all the way through the season.

  • tawny

Just curious does anybody left (besids Paul) have an actual album out there for sale?

Re: Thia – how much exposure did she get on AGT? Never watched that show.

  • standtotheright

It creates a feedback loop of buzz that just grows and grows.

    Exactly.

I approve of acknowledging that these are individuals with musical histories both on and off the show. Let those videos, songs, and other extras viralize, because those are the things that help turn reality show voters into album buyers, something the show really needs.

  • Mel1

    Dave does this every year.

Season Eight he changed it up each week but said his favorite all season was Nick Mitchell (Normund Gentle), so take from that what you will.

Who’s Dave? Nick Mitchell didn’t even make the top 13.

  • Incipit

The scorched earth policy they had before just made fans bitter.

I’m always going to be slightly bitter about David Cook’s Analog Heart getting pulled and the resulting completely faux and un-necessary controversy about ‘is he a ringer’ — the fact that TPTB finally wised up is cold comfort to people who wanted to buy it legally.

    I don’t think so. I remember finding S8 performances on AI.com…

Who’s Dave? Nick Mitchell didn’t even make the top 13.

Dave=David Cook. The discussion is about whether or not he names favorites each season. He was asked this a LOT S8, and yes, he did say Normund Gentle more often than not, lol.

  • sr4mjc

Thanks Incipit! Definitely doesn’t sound like the boot song is a single to me. Surprised he stopped listening to new music while writing, that is interesting.

  • ri

never saw xfactor, KIRSTEN but it seems like that kind of promotion can only be a win-win so i can’t imagine what took Idol so long to figure that out.

Well they might have to take down their OWN YouTube channel. But I remember seeing Casey’s, Crystal’s and Lee’s pre-idol stuff all the way through the season.

crap, wish i realized that’s what they meant. i never bothered to look, i just assumed EVERYTHING was taken off youtube. so i was depriving myself of Casey’s pre-idol body of work based on something i read in passing. i’m an idiot.

  • sma11ie

Surprised he stopped listening to new music while writing, that is interesting.

So, the good news w.r.t. that tidbit, is that David’s new record won’t sound like everything else that’s on the radio right now. The bad news is, it won’t sound like everything else that’s on the radio right now, LOL. Depending on which “kind” of fan you are, it’s I guess good or bad news =P.

  • suenigma

    sr4mjc:
Surprised he (David Cook) stopped listening to new music while writing, that is interesting.

Yeah, that was an interesting comment, but it kind of makes sense. I think that he tends to be a bit of a sponge, even if unconsciously, so I can see him wanting to force himself to focus and find his own authentic voice, without influence from other artists or what sounds are already out there.

  • Incipit

Definitely doesn’t sound like the boot song is a single to me.

sr4mjc, the press release went to some pains to note that it was a song chosen by Simon Fuller, and that David tracked it exclusively for the Boot Song – Not a cut from DCTR2, not a song that David had recorded previously and then Fuller selected, and Not the single. But, as usual – portions of the LEMs (Lazy Entertainment Media) manage to twist that all around and screw up a simple story…the comments sections of some of those fumblebucks are entertaining to read.

  • sr4mjc

Get out of my head ;)

  • sr4mjc

Incipit – I agree, just saying that interview should leave no doubt, especially when discussing it with a radio station. They said they’d play it, but it wasn’t presented as ‘yay! new single for David Cook, coming up every hour!’

  • sma11ie

MJ, I don’t know if it’s just me, but the David Cook radio interview you posted above says “File Not Found” for me.

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj

I don’t know if X-factor allowed twitter accounts, but it certainly encouraged youtube videos.

Yes, they allowed twitter accounts. Also, there was an X Factor account that posted news and live tweeted during shows. The American Idol twitter isn’t tweeting during shows, but it is tweeting live commentary from the Ford shoots, etc.

I think the X Factor has had a lot to do with the You Tube and Social media turnaround for Idol.

  • Incipit

File not found for me too, mj. I have the mp3 downloaded so it wasn’t a BD.

The numbered pages are cool – except refreshing page 4 takes it back to Page 1, and then Page 4 must be re-selected.On my Safari browser, anyway.

  • larc

    mj:
How are the new numbered pages working out for people?

It’s on and off. Everything is in its own neat little blue box sometimes, but often it’s just numbers appearing side by side that aren’t clickable. Right now, I don’t have it at all.

When it looks right, the default thread opening seems to be to page #1 instead of the last page that I’m used to and prefer.

  • HermeticallySealed

Hmm, I’m not seeing any numbered pages. Just one long comment section.

I’m in Internet Explorer and the numbers are there – since I’m always so behind I likey. Haha.

OH, look what just popped up on YouTube :) Here’s a vid of Street Corner Symphony from Saturday. If you read my little mini recap you’ll remember that Big Jon McLemore wasn’t able to make it, so they sorta had to improvise to cover for him (they were performing with just five of them). For this song, meet Chris… audience member guest beatboxer. They had a little rocky transition from the first to second parts but I think they pulled this together nicely and the audience had a blast. Especially cool to have the “Hey Jude” sing-along with an audience full of a capella singers… don’t get harmonies like that every day from an audience. These guys are so much fun to watch and were so nice when we met them after the show (my son is still talking about it, ha) – if you get a chance to see them live, go do it. I have a big crush on Jeremy’s voice ;)

  • http://emuisemo.pbworks.com eilonwy

Surprised he (David Cook) stopped listening to new music while writing, that is interesting.

Oh — delightful. Not surprised at all. When I’m writing fiction, I can’t read new novels. It’s not fear of contamination… it’s that when my brain is busy with constructing a plot, I automatically deconstruct whatever I’m reading. (Look! Foreshadowing! Look! That’s a key piece of characterization using 3 of the 5 senses!) This thought process drains the relaxing pleasure from being a consumer of art.

While I don’t expect everybody’s creative process to be anything like mine, I’m not above being amused at the occasional similar quirk.

  • breakdown

I loved the new numbered pages but they’re gone now. :(

Petapalooza is an all-day event and I’ve never seen 20,000 people there at one time. Each act performs for 20-30 minutes. And yes, pets are allowed. It is held way off the Strip next to Sam Boyd Stadium.

  • Hazehel

How are the new numbered pages working out for people?

I like the numbered pages, although for some reason it only appear on and off – sometimes you get the entire thread in one page, sometimes you get numbers in boxes, sometimes not (boxed numbers work better). I’m using Chrome most of the time, but it seems to behave similarly in Internet Explorer.

  • sma11ie

MJ, the David Cook interview works now. Thanks for posting it! Pages work for me most of the time (using IE at the moment), but sometimes when I refresh they all disappear, and I have to refresh again. But when they show up, they work fine.

In other news, Nicole Scherzinger for X-Factor US? Um, she is the WORST part of that a capella NBC show BY FAR. She ALWAYS sounds (badly) scripted, absolutely USELESS, and I’m sorry to say, really unintelligent. I’ve hardly ever seen a more useless TV judge in my life. I realize I’m overusing CAPS and hyperbole here, but seriosly, I can’t help it. She redefines bad TV judging. Can Simon set a lower bar?

  • Trina

Is it bad that my first thought when he said he stopped listening to the radio while writing was “but he worked with Ryan Tedder so of course at least something will sound like what’s on the radio….”

  • Pixie Baker

Mj, thanks so much for the addition of numbered pages! It is so easy to go to last page and not have to back track! ;)

  • sunchick

So, the good news w.r.t. that tidbit, is that David’s new record won’t sound like everything else that’s on the radio right now. The bad news is, it won’t sound like everything else that’s on the radio right now, LOL. Depending on which “kind” of fan you are, it’s I guess good or bad news =P.

Well, either that, or the bit about wanting to isolate himself from other music and stay in his own head space while making this record was mostly a subtle way to politely and ingeniously steer the conversation back to his own music rather than talk about other people’s music. Especially since the interviewers seemed to want to ask him about everything but his new album. ;) Don’t throw stones, but that was my first thought. And I wouldn’t blame him.

When the numbering is off, it’s just one long page of comments but the font is clear and readable.

When the numbering is on, the page links work but every refresh puts me back to page 1 and the font is not readable.

Neither is ideal, but I’d rather deal with a long comment stream than a bad font.

mj, I am using Firefox and things aren’t working well at all. For this thread I have only one long thread without page numbers at all. On archive threads I get the bar at the top that someone else mentioned, with only one long thread – and if I hit ctrl + end to get to the end, sometimes it takes me to the end and sometimes to a random spot in the middle. Or only the end of what would be the first page. (shakes head)
Page numbers will be awesome when they work, though, a great addition!
Also edit function has been intermittent for some of us on an Adam thread.
Archive threads have not worked for quite a few of us, I am not alone. Or rather I am, because I can’t read the posts of my peeps.
I hope that this can be fixed for the archives as well as the current thread. Or perhaps there is no need for pages for the archive threads, if that is too difficult.
Many thanks for the site and the threads, mj.

  • Tess

I’m digging being here today…everytime I change a thread or refresh or close and open I get a whole different set of parameters on my screen. Makes reading the blog pretty interesting.

When all works well and I get the search bar, and the grey bar, and the numbered pages its great but the font is hard to read and the contrast between the text and the background is not the best. Also, refreshing when the page bar is up always takes me back to the first page. And when I add a comment I have to scroll back up to the text…I’m always sitting down at the bottom of a seemingly blank page. And the spell check that was on earlier has dissapeared. Haven’t tried to edit yet…I will and will let MJ know how its goes.

It is nice to have numbered pages again. Guess I’ll just keep a cheat sheet next to my keyboard so I can keep track of where I’ve been when I refresh.

Here is what happened. (Do you still want feedback?)

I left the site while logged in and when I came back I was still logged in and the page numbers worked. When I left the site the comments were all on one page.

When I logged out the page numbers were there but no longer worked.

When I logged back the numbers were gone and all the comments were on one page.

  • MrDuffin

And after I posted the last comment the page numbers are back and working.

Went to another thread, came back…page numbers gone. Totally gone on any archive threads.

Did we know it was acoustic before??

The Pet-A-Palooza concerts are usually acoustic because the animals can take the really loud music.

I turned off the paged comments for now.

Oh, man, now I’m really wishing I lived within any sort of reasonable distance of Vegas (or had the $$ to go out there). I LOVE Cook acoustic. I was lucky enough to get one acoustic song at the Charlottesville show. I said I’d pay good $$ to see him acoustic but that was a theoretical thing since I don’t *have* said good $$. Ha! Oh well, I’m sure we’ll get vids. Sniff.

I just visited the archives thread, and everything looks back the way it was with the “Older Entries” notice at the bottom. :)

I’ll be working on getting paged numbers back, and just so everybody knows, keeping old old threads available for comments is not at the Top of my priority list…

The idol website has the top 24 performances up on their website. I guess they will be putting up the videos all season. That is new, right?

Yep new, something they should have done years ago but at least it’s finally there.

I’m not sure if I got my blockquoting right, but anyway, I’m pretty sure I went there to watch all of DC’s performances over and over, starting with “Happy Together”. (I’m one of those odd balls that liked it.) So I’m thinking they had them posted in season 7 at least.
