It’s funny that now people are unhappy because the kids are so green… but for the past two seasons people were unhappy because the kids were too slick and experienced.

It’s that too many of them are too green. It’s not America’s Most Improved Idol. I don’t mind a couple of growth arc peeps. It loses its charm when 5 of the 10 guys are literally scared to get on the stage.

I think so too. I liked the past couple of seasons where people had more experience. Especially with the fact that some of these people are going to have a record contract and a cd coming out in the next 6 months.

I’m not seeing much star quality or charisma yet this season, but I know this might change as the season goes on. Maybe it will be interesting to see them as they develop.

Didn’t a lot of people expect harder rock from Daughtry? I thought people thought he would put out rock that sounded more like Fuel instead of Nickelback.

Yep, Fuel or maybe Tool, but not watered down Nickleback. I think that was a greater disappointment to me than him being voted off early.

I don’t expect them to sing what they do on the show. I mean, seriously, most of what they sing is 20+ years old. Does anyone really expect them to put out albums of 60′s standards or disco? It’s one of the reasons that I hate themes. So often they leave the contestants with nothing but dated sounding music.

Personally, I like the idea of letting the contestants choose from a group of original songs towards the top 4 or 3, allowing them to work with the band to make it along the lines of their own style.

It’s pretty simple…you record what sells. Pop is selling right now, not rock. If Adam wants a sustained career with his label, he’ll record what sells. Maybe, if he’s lucky and has a lot of success with a couple albums, he’ll be able to record something different…that is, if he indeed wants to record anything different. He likes pop, so who knows.

Exactly! If he had recorded a rock album, there’d be a whole host of “experts” potificating on blogs saying things like, “Why the hell did he record a rock album? Everyone knows rock doesn’t get played on the radio!” lol.

Of course, he could have gone lite-rock like Daughtry, but that would have generated a different set of complaints. (Not knocking Daughtry, btw, I like him.) Can’t please everyone and, as tls said, Adam likes pop.

Carrie hit the mark pretty close. I do think AI country fans were expecting more in the vein of JTTW and not so much Before He Cheats. I bet the BHC mv was a shocker to many of the AI viewers. It all worked out pretty nicely for her too!
