Idol Headlines for 02/20/12 – The Evening Edition

Jason Derulo says he and girlfriend Jordin Sparks plan on going in the studio together and working on something. He says “Jordin is a phenomenal singer, there’s not many people that can sing like her”.

If I were Jordin, I would not do that, that could be a real quick path to souring the relationship if the collaboration doesn’t come off as they hope.  In fact, it’s a terrible idea if she really likes him.  Keep that separate- that’s the best way.

There’s a very informative interview with Carrie about her album from backstage at CMT Crossroads here at CMT Radio with Cody Allan’s site. Just scroll down to “Backstage at Crossroads”. It might take a while to load but here’s what Carrie had to say about the album:

-There’s an emphasis on storytelling in the songs with lots of descriptive lyrics
-There’s some darker songs on the album, and there’s a body count
-There’s a lot of variety including the countriest of country (yayyyyyy!), the biggest of ballads (yesssssss), and also a lot of rocking country
-Lots of tempo
-There’s a reference to something being naughty – I think it’s in reference to Good Girl but it’s not completely clear whether she’s talking about that song or multiple songs

I’m very excited if all that holds true because it’s like she’s tapped into my brain and telling me what I want to hear. I’ve really wanted Carrie to work on the descriptiveness and storytelling in her lyrics and I’m really excited to hear some really country songs from her. I also love Carrie’s big ballads. It sounds like there may be a twist in Good Girl so I’m excited to hear that too. Just 3 days until Good Girl premieres!

Nandito Ako, the mini-series, has me won over.  It’s very well done, exciting, expensive-looking production values, believable acting, including David.  No subtitles, but enough English to follow the story, which is about David’s character, Josh Bradley, a singer, ha!  It looks like something Archufans will treasure for a long time…like 2 years.     

Love David’s pics for Bench, he is a great commercial model because he has a great face and expressions…He is very photogenic. I’m looking forward to the photoshoot video that was shown during Bench’s fashion show. By the way, I’m very excited for the miniseries Nandito Ako, I was really surprised because at least the first episode wasn’t cheesy, actually it’s a very interesting plot and David is a natural actor. Nandito Ako was a TT in twitter in the Phillipines, USA and worldwide…Actually, these last 3 or 4 days, David has been trending in Twitter thanks to his loving fans…that’s awesome!

Speaking of collaborations, both Rihanna/Chris Brown songs leaked.  He is now featured on “Birthday Cake” and she is on his “Turn Up The Music”.

Birthday Cake is soooo wrong on soooooooooo many levels. Totally sick.

Yeah, Birthday Cake is so inappropriate.  This song may actually put a dent in her career.

ETA: I said a few days ago that I liked her for her idgf attitude and catchy songs. Well, this song is turning me off from her real fast!

David Archuleta has never played up his looks but I’m not surprised at how well the Bench photos have turned out. He’s a young, fresh faced, good looking guy with a multi-ethnic look. The fashion photographers were clearly able to highlight these attributes.

I’m surprised his previous management didn’t secure more endorsement deals for him, especially coming off Idol. I can’t wait to see the other photos from the shoot and the full campaign for David Archuleta for Bench and David Archuleta for FIX Hair Products. I’m think it will be another helpful step towards wiping away the tween/teen idol image. I also hope he continues modeling when he returns fom his mission.

unfortunately, i don’t think that her new collab(s) (apparently she is appearing on one of his remixes too)  is going to hurt her career at all; his vicious attack on her only hurt his career for about 5 minutes.  And that is incredibly, incredibly sad.

The funny thing is that what Adam says about his second album sounds a lot to me like what Haley Reinhart is saying about her first.  She has taken her time with it and had artistic control over the entire project.  She was very smart not wanting rush out product as some Idols have done in the past.  She’s a smart cookie.  

I think it’s all a publicity stunt. She could get any RnB or hip hop guy or rapper to feature on this. But … No other featured artist could be as memorable and shocking as Chris Brown. The collaboration is so perverse in every possible way it’s almost making me laugh.

It’s pretty much the same thing Crystal said about her album, what David Cook said about his last album and what Casey J and Kris have said about their upcoming albums. It all sounds great and I am hoping that these albums will all be great but it unfortunately doesn’t guarantee anything, either in terms of critical or commercial success.

Love the Bench contract David got while he was in the Phillipines.  They even have Gigantic Billboards up.  They said if there was more time they would have done a TV commerical too, but hope to in two years.  They had some pretty big Mall shows and a filmed photo shoot.  David is so photogenic and I’m glad he accepted this opportunity.

 I wish I could find any humor in it, but all it does is make me sad. I can only imagine how this will look to all those girls who were claiming that Chris could beat them all he wants. Hell if Ri-Ri is okay with him after pounding her into the hospital, it must be all right.  SMH

Heidijoy, maybe more important than the Bench contract is that David got to meet the Founder and President of Bench, Ben Chan. This guy is so generous that the other Bench celebrity endorser, Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars) refers to him as Daddy Warbuck http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleId=777541&publicationSubCategoryId=83 I was impressed with how Ben personally helped him select a wardrobe, watches and accessories and also how he helped David select clothing and accessories for his siblings. Connections with people like Ben Chan and the chairman of TV5 can only help David when he returns in 2014.

A Rihanna and Chris Brown collaboration sends such a bad message to her young girl fans.

Yes, I know there are no guarantees in the music industry.  It is a tough world and luck plays as big a part in things as anything else.  I’ve had high hopes before and been let down, of course.  All I’m saying is as it was funny as I listened to Adam and what he was saying about his first album experience.  I have high hopes for Haley’s album, but I’m realistic enough to know nothing is set in stone and even the most promising projects can end up fizzling out.  Fingers crossed that won’t happen. :)   

Great Idolator interview with Adam. I love to hear him talk. My goodness David A. looks dare I say hot. That is a very beautiful picture of him.

RiRi is the one who needs help..psychological help. CB needs no help. He still scores other collaborations, he still gets airplay, he gets major appearances, he still gets his ass kissed and hes a Grammy winner now. Hes a piece of crap, woman beating douchebag whos been rewarded since the public learned what kind of person he is. Um yeah put me in the “dont get me started on Chris Brown” camp.

I am just so proud of and happy for David A.  Good things should happen to good people, but that is not always the case.  He certainly deserves every good thing that comes his way.  I can imagine he will be a wonderful missionary.  People who meet him just love him so much.  He is going to help and impact many people’s lives.  He wrote hand written thank yous to many of the people involved in Nandito Ako.  They were really touched by the fact that he wrote them and touched also by what he wrote.

I’m happy for David A. too. There are many paths to a career and success.  This is great exposure for him.  :)

I don’t know. I saw she did a gig a few weeks back in… Phoenix? Albuquerque? Somewhere in the SW (lol, I forget). I thought she said she would have an EP coming out this spring, but that was months ago and I haven’t heard anything since. But I don’t follow her on twitter and I lost track of her career awhile back, to be honest.

SchoolOfHoops, isn’t it funny how people take things literally? Kris does an entire day of photoshoots with a pro photog but they’ll believe that an iPhone pic taken by a friend will suddenly be the album cover.

It was a cool pic though. 

We should also be concerned about Rihanna and her well-being.  It feels that is getting lost in all the drama.

I cannot waste my time being concerned for Rihanna’s well-being, as it appears she is a stone cold moron.  Maybe the people close to her being concerned would help, but those of us who don’t know her would just be wasting our energy.

It’s already obvious that the girl has tragic self-esteem issues by virtue of the fact that she constantly dresses like a street walker and performs like she’s dancing on a pole.  I’m not usually one to judge overt sexuality, but when that’s the only speed you’ve got?  I start to question why that is the only attention you desire.  

When you collaborate with the guy who beat the living shit out of you, well then it’s obvious you have no instinct for self-preservation.  So, I just don’t feel compelled to care about such a person.  

Watching the music industry sanction sweeping woman-beating under the rug is definitely disheartening.  And, I applaud those artists who are vocal about just how vile it is to give a guy like this a grammy.  (Equally vile is to give one to this particular no-talent bully).  Based on his live performances, I cannot even verify that this loser can sing.  

The only choice now (for me) is to completely ignore the existence of these too fools and wait for the inevitable, “aw, well that’s a shame” moment when one or both of them self-destruct. 

Bench clothing & Fix hair endorser, David A, got a lot more pictures than those two. At the mall show, they had a 5 minutes photoshoot video of Bench brand he was modeling.  Cool.  This dude is probably one of the most naturally good looking out of all American idols.  Never seen any acne in his skin.  Really no make-up needed.

LOL! OKay, not ten, 15 maybe?  I pulled the number 10 out of thin air but really, he doesn’t look like he has hit puberty to me. I’m not trying to diss him by saying that. He just looks very young, and this, combined with his continued desire to project an aurua of innocence makes him seem very much younger than his 21 (22?) years.

For the person who asked, yes I have seen his mother and his father and agree that he was blessed to inherit her genes.
