Thanks Jolene. I didn't realize he only had one solo cred in the album. Anyway, best of luck to CBTM. Not my personal choice but let's hope it works for him. I'm sure an AI appearance would boost the song.

How many songs did he have solo songwriting creds?

A Daily Anthem. Which is not a new song, as it was on his unreleased 2nd album.

I imagine RCA went with CBTM because it's the most "pop" song on DCTR. I don't think writing credit had to do with it.

AllAccess.com FINALLY has info on Cookà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s next single - à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Come Back To Meà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ impacting HAC on 3/30. (nothing has shown up on CHR, but Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m assuming it will have an earlier add date there).

Given that he did top 5 in Hot AC last time around, RCA may consider that his primary format for this album. If that's the case he could get a later add date for CHR. Same thing happens with Lifehouse, Nickelback, Hoobastank, Plain White Ts, etc. The reverse usually happens for more poppy songs--Leona Lewis, Katy Perry, Pink, etc. generally have CHR add dates and then Hot AC add dates later on. I think it's smart to go to Hot AC first. CHR is tough for the type of songs on Cook's album (it's tough no matter what, but only a few "rocker voice, non-alternative" songs make it very high). Even Lifehouse, which I think is more pop than Cook is, have a hard time on CHR. If CBTM is big enough on Hot AC it may have a better chance on CHR in the long run.

CBTM is an interesting choice. I like it better than LO, but I thought they would go for a song that's more uptempo than LO, but they went the opposite direction. My choice would have been Heroes. But CBTM is a decent choice. If I recall, it was also one of his best sellers the week the album was released.

Yeah it's definitely interesting that RCA chose the songs he had no part in writing as the first 2 singles. How many songs did he have solo songwriting creds?

BOOOOOOO!! Sigh.

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll second that Boo, and the sigh.

I'll third that Boo, and the sigh, and raise you a Blech!

I think Lie would have done the same thing and I think ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a better song, but Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m glad they chose CBTM over Declaration

This, too.

I just wish people actually got to hear the songs DC had a hand in writing. *sigh*

Sighing right back atcha, with an agreeing nod.

:annoyed_tb: but I'll get over it in time, cuz I do really like the song even if it is ABMB-light or LO-reciprocated. LOL

Thanks for the heads-up Cheese :) CBTM is not my favorite track on DCTR but I do like it. It's radio friendly which is good. I do wonder though why RCA is choosing to release the songs DC didn't write - could just be coincidence I suppose. I definitely think there are radio friendly songs on DCTR that DC wrote.

Here's hoping the video tracks the words of the song ....

I was hoping for Declaration, but I can live with CBTM. I actually like it more than "Lie" since it's more upbeat. I definitely it has good potential as a Top 40 hit.

Actually, I would have been happy with any song at this point :)

I just wish people actually got to hear the songs DC had a hand in writing. *sigh*

Well, as long as there's a third single, they will. They've run out of songs that he didn't co-write. I think this song will bring in some of the Idol fans who loved the ABMB Cook and thought WTF? when they heard "Light On" and since he's performing the next single on Idol, it's a smart move. (I think Lie would have done the same thing and I think it's a better song, but I'm glad they chose CBTM over Declaration)

I have to agree with Cheese about CBTM. It wouldn't have been my choice, but I do like the song. I predict the new AC station here and especially HAC will play this song to death once they get a hold of it. LOL
