Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert will perform “America the Beautiful”. Madonna should be lulzy as the halftime entertainment. Don’t miss the ads! Oh, and, incidentally…the game! GO PATS.

‘American Idol’ Contestant’s Dad I Was Not in Rehab When My Son Auditioned! – Ethan Jones made it to Hollywood this week on “American Idol” and told a story about how his dad was in rehab — but Todd Jones wants to clear the air … he was not actually in rehab when his son auditioned. Ethan explained on the show (see below) that he was in a band back in St. Louis with his dad, but pops had to leave the band to go to rehab. Steven Tyler, no stranger to addiction, even said, “I want to meet your father when he gets out.” But Todd tells TMZ he’s out of rehab for six months and couldn’t be with his son at the audition because he was attending a funeral. – Read more at TMZ

Cory Monteith Cops Called to Bust Up House Party – “Glee” star Cory Monteith threw a loud birthday party for one of his friends last night — so loud, in fact, that neighbors called the cops to have it shut down … TMZ has learned. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ cops were called to Monteith’s Hollywood Hills home at 4:30 AM because neighbors were complaining about the noise level. We’re told cops spoke to Monteith and his roommate, who were both extremely nice to the officers. In the end, we’re told Corey agreed to shut off the music and end the party — which was also attended by other cast members from “Glee” — but not before cops gave Corey’s roommate a ticket for the loud music. – Read more at TMZ

    I call it the stuper bowl. It’s like Xmas for me (which I don’t celebrate) I’m glad when it’s over. ESPN is down the road from me today (Durham, CT) doing some silly stuff at a local high school as they are 1/2 way between Boston and NY (or halfway between stadiums). It’s all that’s been on local TV all week. The guy who gave Kraft the football lives about 20 miles from me. You can’t walk in the supermarket! OK… rant over!

    I feel your pain; I live about six miles from Foxboro, MA, and expect to be up all night dodging cherry bombs. Grocery stores are a nightmare; streamers everywhere and tons of fat inducing treats for arm chair warriors in special displays beckoning all with logo jerseys and athletic gear.  This is bigger than Christmas and I’m gonna guess people gain more weight than at Christmas.  WW111 actually started two days ago, but there has been no news coverage, so it quietly ended.

    I will pay attention when there is a female NFL player.

    @kelly_clarkson:disqus Literally left my wardrobe at the hotel in Louisiana and my tour manager had to run back and get it. Now we’re on the plane headed for the Super Bowl but that was a close one! I’m not sure if I could have pulled off spanx and heels while singing the anthem :)

    I think women are just too smart to wrap themselves in an unflattering uniform with oversize shoulder pads and all the extraneous body pads (except for maybe the Kardashians) and to hide their faces in silly headgear that is intended to obscure a women’s smile…and heck, who wants to walk around with a mouth full of plastic or latex…and the shoes (not even going there).

    Go Giants….interesting that on a bunch of popularity polls are showing Manning beating out pretty boy Brady.

    Great to watch Katharine last night on TV NFL Honors show!  She was able to get her picture taken with alot of football players – Tebow, A Smith, Suggs, A Rogers etc

    Kat McPhee was just interviewed on the Super Bowl pre-game show.  She looked great, short interview, gave a brief synopsis of the show – an analogy to Tom Brady being the backup, then the star gets injured and he gets a chance to shine.  OK.  lol

    I am really enjoying the camraderie between CaseyJ and his new drummer, Blaine Crews. All last year, CJ kind of limped along with a variety of band members. The only one he seemed to connect with was his piano player. But now it’s clear he’s picked his own line-up and it really shows.

    I’m sure he will get a ring but there’s so much more to it than that. Players put everything they have to just to even take part in one play in the Super Bowl. It’s something they dream about. The guy even had the Patriots logo shaved into the back of his head. Someone used the perfect example when they said it’s like telling a little kid the night of Christmas eve that Xmas is cancelled while the rest of the family celebrate together. It’s an extremely unclassy move on behalf of the Patriots organization.

    Actually Brady is not a big hotness magnet and I know because I took a poll at the home.  There is a quintessential nerdiness he can’t quite escape; the prayer guy and Manning have no competition – although I might be willing to telerate a brief and lucrative marriage to him as a career move.

    Back at the height of my feminism, I used to go to football games and yell inspiring words like, “Nice cup!”, or “Hey buns, come to mama” and I’m gonna tell you women take flattery much better than men, cuz I got some really dirty looks.  I also got thrown out. 

    I may not appreciate the game, but I most always appreciate the critical assets of those that play it, and I do not mean their portfolios.  I suspect that is why today women are so involved in the sport:  it is our only legitimate porn.  Come to think of it, men also enjoy warm buns!

    Considering that he and the franchise are known cheaters (Smile you’re on camera!) this doesn’t suprise me.
    I don’t like the Giants either, But Eli seems like less of a douche than Brady, so I guess I hope they win.

    I actually love watching football, and I’ve been to the Superbowl twice.  I must say those were some rocking good times.  It’s an extremely fun event, even when you don’t care who wins.  Although this year, as a Jets fan, my not caring meter is off the charts.

    We’re going to a party at a friends house later and I’m thinking that after Kelly sings the NA, I’ll just be standing in the kitchen with my other mommy friends drinking sangria for the duration :).  Even though Gronkowski got me major points this year in my fantasy league, I still can’t bring myself to cheer for the Patriots. 

    Although when I went to the Super Bowl here in Tampa in 2009, by the end of the game I was cheering like a fool for the Steelers.  They’ve never been a team I liked (sorry mj!) and I freaking hate Roethlisberger with a passion.  So, who knows what I’ll be doing tonight after a few drinks.  If I had to guess, I think tonight my buzzed alter-ego will become a Giants fan.

    I’m not working on the SB telecast this year, since NBC has it. It’s been awhile since it’s been this quiet at the office during SB Week — strange, but sorta nice!

    Don’t like either of these teams, don’t care who wins. Hopefully it will be a good game, like the last time these clubs met for the title.

    Hope the commercials will be better than they’ve been in the last couple years. There have been too many duds lately, considering how much money they spend on those

    Sad my Packers aren’t in the SB, but looking forward to watching anyway!  Rooting for the Giants since they were such a worthy opponent when they beat the Pack.  Also anxious to see Kelly sing the NA.

    I only caught the end of NA. Hopefully everything went fine. I know that singing the national anthem well is a big deal for Americans.
    Here, the national anthem is rarely performed live, usually they just play the recording (sometimes choir,  most often instrumental only). At sporting games the audience usually sings along to the instrumental. The good thing about that is that there is no pressure to get the anthem right and sing well.

    So, I’m trying to watch the game.

    Playing time is 4x 15 minutes? That’s short. Also, too many commercials and too much talking. Too many interruptions. I’m still trying to figure out what they are trying to accomplish by tackling each other to the ground. It’s hard to follow the game. Players run in so many different directions and the ball is brown. I just don’t know what to focus on.

    Oh, and it’s pretty physical and rough.
