Chris Rene – Less than a year ago, then 28-year-old Santa Cruz native Chris Rene was collecting trash for a living and battling a drug and alcohol addiction. Today, exactly three weeks after taking third on the first season of FOX’s The X Factor, Rene is at the top of the iTunes charts, nearing a record deal, designing a fashion line, and just over 11 months sober. Motivated by fellow Santa Cruz musician James Durbin’s rise to the top on American Idol, the rapper/songwriter worked up the courage to audition for The X Factor back in September. It was there that Rene touched the heart of America with his original rap song “Young Homie,” and his inspiring story. Read more at Good Times.

Jennifer Lopez Asked To Renounce Fiat Relationship Due To Terrorist Ties – In an open letter released Thursday, the United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) group told Lopez, “By endorsing Fiat, you are serving as a spokesperson for a company that freely does business with a regime that is developing an illegal nuclear weapons program, financing and sponsoring terrorist groups including al-Qaeda, has killed American and NATO soliders and is recognized as one of the world’s leading human rights violators.” A Fiat subsidiary called Iveco sells and distributes trucks in Iran, a portion of which have reportedly been used as a means to relocate missiles and to “stage gruesome public executions.” – Read more at Huffington Post

IMO on the cheesy scale X-factor beats idol by a lot.  X-factor gave me more respect for Idol.

At the TV5 press conference today (Manila), David A. said that he planned to continue doing music the rest of his life. He also said the he wants to release new music while he’s away and is already planning some projects for when he gets back.  @ 7:00 and 26:34 marks. http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/19730053

“So Chris Rene thought all the previous American Idols (or Idol shows) were too cheesy, and that’s why he never tried out for American Idol?  Well I hope he can enjoy the same success as some of those Idols have.  And I also hope he realizes the X-Factor is every bit, if not more cheesy than American Idol”

More cheesy No! More puritanical YES!

The other review is still there and you missed this gem:))

The review actually starts with, “Is Scotty McCreery Brad Paisley’s Love Child?”  And then later it’s explained:))

But back to the question of Scotty McCreery’s parentage. During the
razor-sharp parody “Celebrity,” film, the huge backdrop had fake tabloid
headlines splashed across the screen. “Is Scotty McCreery Brad
Paisley’s Love Child?” one of the headlines blared. The song is funny by
itself — a skewering yet fun look at pop culture — but with the video
    it’s hilarious.

So Chris Rene thought all the previous American Idols (or Idol
shows) were too cheesy, and that’s why he never tried out for American
    Idol?

I don’t mean to be indelicate, but could Chris have tried out for any previous seasons of American Idol? Sounds like he tried out for the first singing competition show that rolled into town after he got sober (wasn’t he 78 days sober when the live audition happened which means he was even fewer days sober when he hit the initial screening auditions).

As for Idol being too cheesy…X-Factor is like that cheese you buy in a can and spray on a cracker.

X-Factor US tour has been canceled:

I was wondering about that. The UK XF tours to great results. Josh is happy about that because he wants to get some music out. I wonder if they’ll allow Josh to get music out before Melanie. They’ve let Astro do it. In any event, it’s too bad for those who don’t get contracts because the tours generally provide a nice nest egg. I guess Simon couldn’t figure out how to get 129 dancers and 14 thousand pounds of confetti on tour for a reasonable price.

Goboywonder: The most interesting tidbit from the press conference (I’m getting this from a few David A fansites because I have not had a chance to listen to the 30 minute press conference) is that he said that he made the decision to go on a mission 2 years ago but that contractual obligations prevented him from going at that time. I have always been a bit surprised as to why he did not accept the offer Jive made or accept other label offers after he left Jive in early 2011. Maybe he wanted to make sure there was no obstacle to going on a mission in 2012. I suspect that many of his decisions the past two years (personal and professional) have been driven by a desire to remain eligible to serve a mission. I really hope a good U.S. interview does a thorough interview with David before his mission to cover some of the topics covered on the press conference. Where is Shirley Halperin?

I love You this Big from Scotty is on the fansofscotty website – he looks like he was having such a good time. ALso Brad Paisley has caught Scotty fever from which there is no cure

Maybe he just doesn’t like real cheese, but is okay with spray-can cheese and Velveeta.

    Seriously.

I also think that’s why he didn’t accept any of labels’ offers.  I think it’s a shame that David has to go Asia to get really good interviews. But the Asian media respects him and takes him seriously.
