Steven Tyler Says Outrageous Things About Paula Abdul

The new “Idol” judge was asked for his opinion on a former “Idol” judge when this question was posed to him: “What do you think of Paula Abdul’s new show [CBS’s “Live to Dance”]?”

“I haven’t watched it … I just wish her luck, ” Tyler said. “The world took the piss out of her for nodding out, something I’m not unfamiliar with. I guess she had problems with substances. Uh, I don’t know. She’s a real character and she’s great. She’s an artist. People are gonna look to see what she’s got going next. I wish her luck.”

And we wish him luck once this gets out.

Fox’s X Factor vs. Idol

There’s Mark Burnett’s Voice of America, due on NBC, and America’s Got Talent. Now comes Fox’s own belated import of The X Factor, with Simon Cowell cast in a new role as mentor rather than harsh judge. The show is due next fall.

Is there room for four? “I wouldn’t think so, and I don’t think there will be four” on the air for long, says Fox entertainment chief Kevin Reilly. But Factor, produced by Cowell, has “its own different energy; a lot of the mechanics are similar but the mentoring aspect is so major, the spectacle nature of it, the production of it feels very different. The rest of it is for the audience to decide, ” he says, “but in a perfect world I’d like to see the competition between the two shows.”

‘Idol’ runner-up Crystal Bowersox looks back, ahead

Hollywood, California (CNN) — Crystal Bowersox is center stage at S.I.R. Studios in Hollywood, rehearsing two lines from her new single over and over: “You’d come home with bourbon breath, Jack in the air. And when you broke my bones, I told the school I fell down the stairs.”

They’re the most disturbing lyrics on the title track of her rootsy debut album, “Farmer’s Daughter, ” and she wants to make sure the sentiment is punctuated.

Lea Michele Never Meant to Hurt Young ‘True Grit’ Star

But Gossip Cop discovered that one key part of the story was omitted. It was not Lea Michele who “dissed” the talented ‘True Grit’ star. It was actually a production assistant, whose premiere role on set was to keep the show’s tenacious fans at bay.

Even though Lea wasn’t at fault for Hailee’s letdown, she still feels bad. “I heard Hailee was upset and feel terrible, ” she said. “The ‘Glee’ schedule is so jam-packed that the PA probably pulled me so that I wouldn’t be late to set. I never meant to hurt her feelings. She’s an extraordinary talent and I look forward to meeting her one day.”
