“When I came into the industry four years ago, I think people didn’t really know how to take me,” he said. “As I moved to a major label, I started to change some of my Twittering habits.”
At first, he thought his fans “wanted to hear me make fun of the stupidity of the stuff that happens on Idol. I just did it as a joke.” He thought he was doing a good job. But once he got to Word, his team there started giving him feedback from within the industry. One manager for a major act he wouldn’t name told Sligh’s booking agent that he has a reputation for being a loose cannon and “should keep his mouth shut.”
