Idol Headlines for 9/22/13

Tonight, the Primetime Emmy Awards air on CBS at 8/7c pm. Of course, we’ll be liveblogging the telecast right here. Neil Patrick Harris will host. There will be a special “In Memoriam” tribute to Glee star, Cory Monteith, and others, and Carrie Underwood will perform in a special tribute to the music of the 60s. Here’s a rehearsal photo. Eep!

Carrie Underwood Won’t Step Fully into the Spotlight at Tonight’s Emmy Awards – Carrie Underwood heads out to the Emmy Awards this Sunday night to sing songs from 1963 and 1964. The performance is part of a tribute to television’s role in covering major events from that time period, including assassination of President Kennedy to the Beatles’ debut on The Ed Sullivan Show. Carrie says, “It’s all about TV, music, changing perceptions and defining an era, basically. So, that was a really big, big changing time in our culture.” – Read more at ABC News Radio

Glee’s Darren Criss turned Beatles fanboy for a minute as he lingered near McCartney’s area in hopes of snagging an introduction to the legend. The glass of mysterious brown liquor in his hand, he told THR, was not so much liquid courage as “my liquid to calm the f— down.” As he waited, Criss showed off a couple photos stored on his phone of him in the classic McCartney look of the Beatles’ earlier years (circa 1963). Sinitta reveals the child she aborted in 2009 was fathered by Simon Cowell – But Simon Cowell previously fathered a baby with long term friend Sinitta in 2009 with the singer deciding to have an abortion rather than keep the child. Sinitta had previously spoken about the abortion but has now named the music mogul as the father of the unborn child. According to The Daily Mirror, Sinitta said ‘yes’ when asked if Simon was the dad but claims that she no longer feels ‘cursed’ by the decision after adopting two children. She said: “I know the curse has been lifted because I have been blessed with children and now Simon is too, plus God forgives. Friends close to the X Factor boss claim that he had no idea about the termination while Sinitta has been very ‘emotional’ since it was announced he and Lauren Silverman were expecting a son. – Read more at YahooUK
