Idol Headlines For 4/11/14

‘American Idol’ eliminated singer Malaya Watson’s next challenge: The ACTs – “Getting to work with so many people was awesome,” the singer tells Zap2it and a small group of reporters backstage after her elimination. “I’m 16! What kid can say ‘I sang in front of Harry Connick, J-Lo and worked with Rickey Minor? Oh, that’s nothing major.’ It was my first job, what can I say? It was just a big opportunity that not a lot of people can experience, and with me being just a child it’s pretty cool.” – Read more at Zap2it

Stevie Nicks on Kiss’ Rock Hall Appearance: ‘They Should Have Played’ – Because Linda was one of the first artists that really caught my eye when I was in high school. And I really could sing just like her. I’m sure a lot of people could. Because if you study her, you can get her vibe. So I could sing “Different Drum.” I couldn’t sing it as good as Carrie Underwood just sang it, I have to say, God bless her. But I got it pretty good, and I could also play it on my guitar – and I’m not the best guitar player. But I learned it and I could sing it. – Read more at Rolling Stone

Dancing’s Derek Hough: It’s Awesome to Be Back with Amy – How’d you like the switch-up? I thought it went great. It was fun to see everyone with different partners and I think it was a good change of pace for us and the celebrities. For me as a student, I like to have a bunch of different teachers and I want insight from different people. Plus, it was great to admire Amy from afar. It was wonderful and I was so proud watching her shake it with Mark. I’m sure everyone felt the same way watching their partner out there. I think that’s the best part of the switch-up — being able to see your partner do their thing out there and knowing you had a part in helping them on their journey there. Amy and I still did our little ritual before they went on. I went downstairs and I talked to her for a little bit during the commercial break. – Read more at TV Guide
