‘American Idol’: Where Did It Go Wrong? – Once upon a time, “American Idol” rivaled the Oscars telecast for TV viewers. Last week, it got beat in the weekly Nielsen ratings by the Will Arnett sitcom “The Millers.” “All prominent TV shows eventually go into decline,” Jeffrey McCall, professor of communications at DePauw University, said via email. All things considered, “Idol” is coming in for a soft landing. ‘American Idol’: Rickey Minor doesn’t mind ‘Harsh Harry’ critiquing the band – Harry Connick Jr. quickly made his presence known on the “American Idol” Season 13 judges’ panel by being brutally honest with the contestants. But so-called “Harsh Harry” hasn’t only critiqued the singers, he’s also directed some of his criticism toward Rickey Minor’s “Idol” house band.
