Adam Levine tweets about his new FRAGRANCE – “Proud to release my fragrance. its like other celebrity fragrances but tastefully done & actually smells good. get it at @macys or something”

Talks with ‘Idol’ contestants Isabelle and Matheus, locals going to Hollywood – At four foot nine, he has been bullied for his height and has a bit of awkwardness about him. While he enjoyed his time on “The Glee Project,” he didn’t particularly like the way he was edited. “They portrayed me really weirdly,” he said. (He cried a lot.) “People thought I was a cocky little bastard.” At the same time, “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy said he was too shy.
Once that show ended in 2011, he decided to stay in Los Angeles, working at a Beverly Hills Best Buy. But he didn’t pursue his music career unlike many of his “Glee Project” peers. “Most of my friends thought I was stupid,” he said. “Why not ride the wave?” But he felt bad about himself. He said he tried contacting some of the other “Glee Project” contestants but didn’t get responses back. He felt rejected, “pathetic.” – Read more at Access Atlanta

‘Idol’ winner Phillip Phillips feels ‘Home’ on stage – “Gone, Gone, Gone” is his new single.
“It’s a good love song, but it doesn’t have to be about a love relationship; it can be about a relationship with somebody else or something else,” Phillips said. Being on “American Idol” was his own “something else,” the 22-year-old said. “It was tough. It’s not easy like it looks on television. You have to make a lot of decisions and you have to work long hours, and a lot of it is just hurry up and wait. You get drained out and sometimes you just have to take a break, kind of take a breather and relax,” he said. “It was fun; it was a great learning experience.” – Read more at Toledo Free Press

Adam Lambert: Gay Bars are the Best… to Meet Chicks!

Adam Lambert Poses With His Unity Award, Is All, ‘This Is What A REAL Winner Looks Like’ (PHOTO) – Remember when we flipped our ish over Adam Lambert earning the We Are Family Foundation’s Unity Award?! Well, it’s pretty much a given that we’ll flip over ANYTHING Adam does (see: this and this), but seeing the most GLAMOROUS HUMAN BEING EVER holding his trophy reminds us of why Adam is absolutely the winner of life (and why all the haters should just quit trying to keep up). Also, Adam’s smize totally says: “THIS is how you rock guyliner at a black tie gala like a boss. BAM! *Drops mic, walks away*” – Read more at Buzzworthy – Read more at MTV

Demi Lovato Shares on Eating Disorder, Unhealthy Relationships: “I Was So Afraid of Being Alone” – – “I was about 12 or 13 when I developed my eating disorder, and at that time nobody in the public eye talked about their body issues,” the now-20-year-old tells the magazine. “I feel that if someone had admitted they had a problem, then I wouldn’t have gone down that route myself,” she explains. “That’s my goal in talking about my problems: I want to be the person for other girls that I needed to admire when I was looking for help and strength.” Part of that strength, she says, comes from accepting who you are, no matter what your shape or how other people perceive you. – Read more at E Online

Demi Lovato Wasn’t ‘Ready’ For ‘X Factor’ After Rehab – “I don’t think I was ready when I started on ‘The X Factor,’ ” Lovato said of her autumn 2012 start date. “In an ideal situation, I would have maybe waited a year or more [after coming out of treatment].” Yet, Lovato, who told MTV News that she has “no idea” whether she will be back next season, is now comfortable being back in the spotlight. “I dived into work really quickly and maybe that wasn’t the best idea at the time,” Lovato said. “But the place I am in today is so much better than I could have ever imagined, so I’m really glad.” – Read more at MTV

‘Glee’ Q&A: Meet Oliver Kieran-Jones, Kurt’s New Man in NYC – How do you feel about Adam as a character? I don’t know what I’m allowed to say so I dare not say anything! My process of developing characters is to fall in love with them anyway, so I’m probably biased. I think he’s an amazing, amazing person for a number of reasons, standalone and regardless to his relationship with Kurt. What intrigued me most and was difficult to make sense of is why this guy who from the outside seems he’d be relatively popular and have a lot of stuff going on for him. But he’s the head of a group of misfits and running this glee club. There were two ways to go with the dialog I read — you could make him a little bit arrogant and smarmy but kind of charming, or you can infuse him with warmth. I felt like, for me, that’s where he comes from. Despite the outside, he actually feels extremely vulnerable and extremely like a misfit. I think that’s perpetuated by the fact that he’s gay and had to deal with that, perpetuated by the fact that he’s in New York and feels like an outsider. – Read more at

I can just imagine that cute backstage scene between Oliver Kieran-Jones and Chris Colfer.

From the Billboard article about Oliver who plays Chris’ character’s   love interest and admits that he is a writer in real life :

Interviewer : You and Chris have that in common!
Oliver: We actually haven’t discussed it! He writes all the time. We’ll do a scene and then he’ll get on his laptop and write and I’ll throw a pencil at him and he’ll get angry.

Very funny article on Adam’s Unity Award.  And TMZ was really amusing for a change.  Nice when one can laugh and not feel guilty about it.

o/ MT CuckooBert: adamlambert #Trespassing album Chinese version is on for pre-order.#2 best seller now.

I have no idea of what to expect as far as sales are concerned, given the rampant music piracy in China, but any inroads Adam makes into that market make me very happy.  One way or another, I very much hope he capitalizes on the appeal he clearly has there.

I’m convinced there are Glamberts working at MTV and VH1. Too funny.

Wonderful news for the Chinese Glamberts. So much red tape just for foreigners to get their music released in China. I knew once Adam was interviewed by the Chinese government CCTV he would be approved and being the first openly gay, times are changing.  I hope all of his 190k members at his Chinese fansite go buy his music.

  • roarpen

I cannot freakin wait. It feels like years.

  • justmefornow

    I know what you mean.
When I saw those videos this morning, it all came rushing back what it’s like to see him live. He’s like a force of nature, lol.

“I have no idea of what to expect as far as sales are concerned, given the rampant music piracy in China,”

Will we be able to get any numbers from China? That would be very interesting to see what a #2 (is it the album or a single on itunes?)
does in the way of numbers over there. Even with the piracy, the population is just so huge. My guess, and it is just a guess, is that he appeals to females from teens through twenties. They are the pop culture consumers in
China. There are far fewer females than males (one-child policy unintended consequence) – I think 1 girl for 3 boys. Still, China is just huge. I hope there are numbers – it would be so interesting. Good luck to him. Great job for him and his team cracking that market.

Jessica Sanchez was at the billboard studio her take on a Whitney Houston song for their upcoming “Week of Whitney” .

Song of the day for Kris at the Hotel Cafe tonight in LA is Ryan Adams – My Sweet Carolina.

  • Sharon S.

The tweet about Adam’s Chinese preorders was about Amazon, not iTunes.  I don’t know how much of a player iTunes is in China at this point, as it was introduced into the market only last year.  It’s the album, not the single.

I’ve no idea if we’ll get numbers – I assume not, as numbers are hard to come by for most international markets – but I agree that it’s a good thing that Adam has made inroads there.  Kudos to both his management and to his Chinese fanbase (which is both incredibly organized and incredibly effective, as Chinese fanbases tend to be) for helping Adam to break through into that potentially huge market.

  • Eilonwy

Will we be able to get any numbers from China?

Well, the only music chart anybody mentions for China is the Sina (here, scroll down for Music), and unlike Japan’s Oricon chart, it doesn’t seem to give sales figures in numerals readable to somebody who doesn’t speak the language.

But it’s not like I’ve figured out the secret of every tab. I will disclose that there appear to be tabs exclusively listing U.S. music released in China.

IFPI says 2011 music sales in China were $68.1 million, with 74% of that in digital form. On a population of 1.34 billion, that’s an average of 5 cents per person spent on music. (So more realistically, it’s unlikely that more than half of one percent of Chinese people buy music at all.) Meanwhile, Japan for the same year had $4.1 billion in music sales, only 22% of that digital. On a population of 127.8 million, that’s an average of $32/person in music spend. [source for music numbers]

Obviously, that doesn’t answer the question of what numbers go with what chart positions, and I’d love to know, too.

  • bridgette12

I know I have read some articles about the record labels here in the States wanting to try to get promotion for their artist not only to sell albums, but also to tour there since they have over a billion people. But like a lot of foreign countries you have to play by their rules and also deal possibly with censorship. I certainly think that Sony/RCA or any of the other labels, getting to promote their artist their is a win for the music industry. With such a large population, there should be opportunities for musicians from many genres to find enough fans in China who would make going there to perform profitable.

  • tripp_ncwy

Kris & Michael Orland Hotel Cafe tonight.

Lyndsey Paker & Paul Mcdonald were also in the house.

  • MellyPer1692

His fan base in China does seem younger, but pretty even between males and females based on a lot of pictures of fans.

  • girlygirltoo

Just back from Kris’ show at the Hotel Cafe. It was fantastic (duh, lol)

Oh My Sweet Carolina was gorgeous. Jillette & Kris played off each other so well in that song. I know at least one person who got video — not only of this, but of Kris’ whole set.
Good crowd, nice mixture of guys & women of various ages. Because he had to be off stage at a certain time (another act was scheduled to go on after him), Kris didn’t do a whole lot of talking during tonight’s show. But he still managed to bounce around/dance as usual, even on that tiny stage. Some fun Krale choreographed dancing in STD, for one.

Lyndsey Parker was there, and she tweeted this:

My Berklee College grad friend has informed me that @KrisAllenhas “perfect pitch.” #thingsialreadyknew

    As well as this :)

#It is worrying me that @KrisAllen keeps banging a tambourine against his broken wrist. #stopthat

I was thinking that myself when I saw him banging the tambourine. But Mama Allen replied back to Lyndsey, and she didn’t seem worried, so there ya go :)

I saw another tweet that Paul McDonald was supposedly there, but I didn’t see him. (Of course it was dark and with my lousy eyesight I probably wouldn’t have recognized him unless he was standing right next to me)

Back from a fabulous show at The Hotel Cafe with Kris Allen.  Kris is a bundle of energy.  I brought someone who had never seen him perform nor had his CD.  She was so impressed and thanked me at least 5 times for turning her on to him.   Kris walked around the club after the show and many of us got photo ops.   I know Lyndsay Parker was there but I didn’t see her and someone said Paul McDonald was there but I didn’t see him either and I was with Michael Orland the whole night and I didn’t see him talking to Paul.  But then again, I had my glasses off.

  • lovetheusa1776

Thanks, HK – you were actually first with the great news.

And appreciate the tweet from Byron – yes, lotsa love there.

Tonight’s request song My Sweet Carolina covered by Kris and Jillete J at Hotel Cafe was amazing. His voice <33 . I can't wait to see the video to relive the experience again.

She won’t be at the Canyon Center on 2/7 because she is shooting her video but for anyone who wants to catch her again, she’s going to be at the Hotel Cafe in March.  If I recall it was March 31st, but don’t quote me because I can’t remember the exact date she told me.    She’ll be on her own.

Kris Allen Hotel Cafe Los Angeles: Ryan Adams – My Sweet Carolina (Duet w/ Jillette Johnson) Cover

  • justmefornow

The Darkness’s tour dates through March 1 (according to Wind-up) are all in Europe, so I don’t think it’s tour related unless they plan on touring here later in the spring/summer?
Better guess it’s some type of collab for the album.

  • irockhard

It’s probably the latter but I’m hoping it’s the former. Why shouldn’t they send him off to Europe? That would actually be a good idea IMO. He has fans there and rock is way more popular there than in the states. If he hits there it might even help him break into US rock radio. He does have a college campus gig in March but that’s not confirmed yet as it’s not posted on his site and no other dates have surfaced so far.

  • justmefornow

They could send him to Europe, but I guess I’m hoping he’ll tour here first so I get to see him live again :)

I think James will have to address the band situation first, announce the bass player (big surprise, lol) and decide whether they’ll add another guitarist. He still has more recording to do as well for the album.

And if he is singing at Wrestlemania 29, that’s in April here in NJ. Maybe he’s recording for them this week too while he’s in LA and he’ll finally say what it is.

Lots still up in the air.

  • irockhard

LOL, but if he tours Europe I’ll have a better chance to see him live. I still have to travel but at least I won’t have to deal with red tape.

A thousand thankyous to whoever recorded that duet between Jillette and Kris. The Emmylou Harris and Ryan Adams version is one of my favorites so I was a bit worried when I saw that they did this but it was incredible. They said that they had two minutes to practice it. Wow.

  • IrisandLilies

That’s a great summary of Phillip’s tweets, although I would probably add a fourth category — the celebrities/famous people he’s met or seen.

BTW, the food tweets are the best.

  • Miz

That was SnapCracklyPop. She had a GREAT seat front and center. Here is the playlist. So far only 7 videos posted. I’m sure (hoping) more to follow.

It was a fantastic show and I’m glad I got out of my comfort zone to attend.

And I finally got to talk to KRIS and get a pic with him. You have no idea how shy I am.

Jessica Sanchez fans might want to check this out!  Her fashion pictures inside Mega Magazine (Philippines) –

  • Anny_nanny

No, no, no! He says about sleep also. A guy has busy life of a decent Teddy-bear.
“Celebrity” is musicians, if they are not musicians Phillip do not know that they are celebrities.

  • girlygirltoo

that link isn’t working for me. But yay, new show :)

  • IrisandLilies

I forgot about the tweets about sleeping.  I thought when you mentioned music/musicians that you were referring to his bandmates and performances, but you’re probably right that most, if not all, of his celebrity mentions were musicians.

  • girlygirltoo

It’s very expensive, and it’s a pain in the neck in terms of all the red tape, to send artists overseas. Unless there’s proof that he actually has a fanbase in Europe, I wouldn’t expect him to tour there anytime soon, unless he could hook on as an opener for a rock band that already has an established presence overseas.

Pretty much all the Idols get asked about touring Europe, but very few of them have actually done so, because they don’t have the fanbase to justify the cost.

It stinks for their international fans, though

  • justmefornow

I don’t think he’s touring there any time soon myself.
The whole convo started with his and Justin Hawkins’ tweets about meeting tomorrow. The Darkness is a British rock band on Wind-up’s label, so that’s where the guessing (wishing, lol) came from.

  • girlygirltoo

yay! You’re probably shy like me. I’ve barely talked to Kris, and I’ve been to a bunch of his shows. I have VIP M&G ticket for tonight, and I have a feeling I’m gonna avoid talking to him, lol. So good for you for overcoming that & getting to meet him…he really is a nice guy.

  • girlygirltoo

well, nothing wrong with wishing, right? :) And who knows, maybe The Darkness will take James on their European tour. Would be cool if they did.

  • irockhard

That’s what I was saying: wishing basically. And of course as an opener for an established act, even Daughtry never headlined a European tour. Still rock acts that are smaller than James do tour there, eg: his ex-guitarist’s band Archer. At the very least I hope he gets to perform at at least one of the major European rock festivals this year. There’s a bigger demand for his music there than in the States, so it makes sense for his people to send him there. Touring with The Darkness in Europe would be a great fit cause they’re from Britain, popular in Europe and on the same label.

  • Taylor

even Daughtry never headlined a European tour

Yes, he did. It wasn’t a long tour, but he did headline a European tour.

  • iani

It’s very expensive, and it’s a pain in the neck in terms of all the red
tape, to send artists overseas. Unless there’s proof that he actually
has a fanbase in Europe, I wouldn’t expect him to tour there anytime
soon, unless he could hook on as an opener for a rock band that already
    has an established presence overseas.

And this is the reason, or one of them, in EU there are annually over 200 festivals of mixed genres, to introduce to the public less established acts also, there is no need to have a fanbase, the music lovers come to festivals for music in general and stay from the morning till the last headliner act finish, it’s the way many bands and solo acts are doing to get known somehow and it has worked for many. I know is not for free those festivals, but if you trust yourself and your talent, invest some money yourself and try some of them, then maybe you’re invited  next year.

And who knows, maybe The Darkness will take James on their European tour.

Hope is Volbeat, lol, to take him on both US-EU tours, they will have an album soon, James too, I know they don’t have same label but James used to open for non same-label acts also, so why not… They also have followed the old fashion pattern. festival, after festival…and after 3 albums they have started to establish better in EU and then US, big surprise for me personally. Not for everyone’s cupa but pretty unique mixed styles in the same song, hopefully they keep their trademark beat and sound now having an American guitarist as part of the band and their producer(yay, still #1 one more day on Active). I don’t follow Hell Or Highwater for some label and other details, but they just finished opening for The Darkness in US, I know because one of DC’s former bandmate is their lead guitarist now and sometimes I “spy” him on twitter for some DC-crumbs eventually, lol.

  • irockhard

Volbeat would be great too, I quite like them, and you’re right they don’t have to be on the same label as the label doesn’t actually book tours, management and bookings agencies hunt for headliners and negotiate with them.

And you’re totally right about the festivals in Europe.

  • irockhard

Daughtry toured Europe as an opener for Nickleback in 2007 and 2012.

  • mmb

Daughtry has also toured on his own in Europe.  More than once.  Smaller venues than with Nickelback.  But he has headlined his own shows over there

  • irockhard

I suppose it’s a matter of semantics. The way I see it they didn’t send him over there as a headliner but as an opening act. A few smaller headlining gigs on the side doesn’t suddenly transform it into a headlining tour. I don’t consider the tour James did last year a headlining tour either for that reason. He did a few smaller headlining gigs but most of the gigs was opening for other bands.

  • dde k

Daughtry toured Europe in the fall of 2010, headlining small clubs. This was separate from their stint as support for Nickleback, and not just “gigs on the side.”

  • dde k

Daughtry toured Europe in the fall of 2010, headlining small clubs. This was separate from their stint as support for Nickleback, and not just “gigs on the side.”

  • sabbia

Interesting. Wonder if WindUp is setting up some opening gigs for james with fellow labelmates. Also, another connection with The Darkness is that James did a killer cover last year of “I Believe in A Thing Called Love” as part of that radio station gig. So who knows.

  • H.A.

James will have better luck booking festival gigs in Europe than opening for The Darkness. Most of the European acts book local acts because they are more known there. James isn’t known in Europe so he wouldn’t help bring any new fans. Maybe a US act will bring him along but again it’s cheaper to just book locals than the expense of bringing an unknown US act. Daughtry is known in Europe so opening for Nickelback makes sense. He also headlined his own European tour small albeit but sold out.

  • mmb

Thank you!  I thought i distinctly remembered Daughtry doing some solo shows in Europe at the same time as Adam was over there on tour in 2010 because they performed at a few of the same venues

  • Nadine_Bitch

Well, talking about Justin Hawkin, one of my favorites on Adam’s FYE is Music Again. A song written by JH himself.

  • irockhard

James isn’t known in Europe so he wouldn’t help bring any new fans.

I’ve seen European rock/metal bloggers blog and tweet about James in their local languages, especially when he performed at Rock on the Range. So it appears he’s not completely unknown there. And he has Idol fans there too.

  • Linda

SO glad you went to see Kris. I’m shy too but I did talk to all the guys at the first show I saw a couple of years ago. My husband was taking a picture of me with Torres and he couldn’t get the camera to work and I just laughed and told him to take his time cause I was standing there with that gorgeous creature’s arm around me. Shy? Not then lol. You’ll want to go to all the shows Kris does within a decent distance form you, for sure.

  • girlygirltoo

How are the European festivals doing financially these days? I remember that a couple of the festivals Adam (?) was supposed to perform at last year (or in 2011, don’t remember) got cancelled because of poor ticket says.

Obviously the big festivals will be on solid financial ground, but what about the smaller ones where it’s unlikely any real big names will be performing. Are they profitable?

  • irockhard

That was the Sonisphere festival that was cancelled. James dream festival is Rock am Ring in Germany, In This Moment, the former band of his guitarist and drummer have played that festival years ago when they were even lessor known than James.

  • Nadine_Bitch

And it is still cancelled for this year.

Sonisphere UK rock festival is cancelled for 2013

  • TheOther!/phillipphillips

Per his Interscope home page, Phillip Phillips will be in Paris, France 3/4 & 3/5.  This follows-up a tweet he sent out today thanking a group of French journalists for their support.

  • Taylor

Daughtry toured Europe as an opener for Nickleback in 2007 and 2012.

That’s correct and Daughtry also had a small headlining European tour.
This tour had nothing to do with gigs on the side when he was touring with Nickleback and they weren’t opening for other bands. It was completely separate.

  • roarpen

     Sorry – I didn’t see it there.

  • iani

Obviously the big festivals will be on solid financial ground, but what about the smaller ones where it’s unlikely any real big names will be performing.

I put once on a DC-thread this link with 2012 EU festivals only and their lineup-ranks are there also. This one includes the US, Canada-festivals also I clicked on Wakestock UK for example, a 25k capacity, festival’s size-OO (OO maybe for less than 30K), rank-177 and The All-American Rejects was the headliner. Interesting though, I clicked on Rock Werchter fest., lineup rank #2, 80K capacity and then clicked on the last act Alabama Shakes and I saw they had in 2012 17 festivals, pretty good for a band established in 2009. Look at the 2012 #1 lineup rank festival (second link for US too), endless list!-SXSW, capacity of 20K, I think Crystal will sing there I clicked on Airbird (last act), no write up there, one festival, lucky him!

This year Wacken fest.( rank 43) 80K capacity is sold out If you click on any festival’s “Official Website” icon  there are/might be some acts already announced for 2013 lineups. This is the one for 2013 Rock am Ring and many known names for 2012  including Halestorm, Steel Panther, some people have mentioned them here.
