Behind The Scenes: Kelly Clarkson’s Cautionary Christmas Music Tale

Adam Lambert’s Glee Future “All Up in the Air” – Adam Lambert may be loving his gig as Starchild on Glee, but that doesn’t mean he’s looking to become a series regular. “I’m having a good time popping in here and there because I have a lot of other stuff in the mix right now,” the former American Idol contestant told me at TrevorLive at the Hollywood Palladium. How many episodes he’ll appear in is “all up in the air,” Lambert said. – Read more at EOnline

The Voice: Blake Shelton Is Out & Danielle Bradbery Returns

‘The Voice’s’ James Wolpert talks elimination: ‘This is not a setback’ – What is the one thing you will miss the most and, conversely, the one thing you’ll probably miss the least now that your time on “The Voice” is up? I think I’m gonna miss the camaraderie and the chance to perform solo songs on stage. That’s what we came here to do, to be performers that sing stuff. I think the thing I’ll miss least is the intense schedule. It’s a pretty intense schedule. It’s a lot of stress and a lot of pressure. But it’s like a roller coaster ride. It really pays off and you end up enjoying it. And you wanna get on again. – Read more at Zap2it

‘The Voice’s’ Cole Vosbury on being eliminated: ‘I didn’t want to let Blake Shelton down’ – Did you get a chance to talk to Blake between the show and here? As soon as my name was not called, he walked straight to me and gave me a big hug and I was like — fighting tears back, of course — “Sorry, man. I didn’t want to let you down.” He was like, “What? You didn’t let me down. I’m proud of you. I’m proud of how far you’ve come.” [He] and CeeLo [Green] both came up to me and told me how proud they were of me, and that meant to a lot to me. This is not the end of my relationship with Blake. … I plan on moving to Nashville and he’s really a good person to have in your corner if you’re gonna be in Nashville and doing that whole thing. He’s just really supportive, and I’ve always heard that he’s really supportive of his artists, and now I’m seeing it for sure. You don’t have to win for him to be supportive. He’s behind me 100 percent. – Read more at Zap2it

The Voice: Michelle Chamuel Talks Returning To Perform Her New Single

Kelly Clarkson is ‘Wrapped’ in red, but feeling green – “The label kept pressuring us to make some hit classic song, and, we’re like, well, obviously, we’re going to try for that, but you never know,” Clarkson says. “I just wanted to make it something you could decorate the tree to or be shopping in the mall and hear – one of those fun songs that gets stuck in your head.” For her Cautionary Christmas Music Tale, Clarkson presents the brattiest possible version of herself — “Scrooge, diva’d out,” she calls the character — trying to enlist celebrities to appear in a Christmas special. “We’re doing a show within a show, kind of like White Christmas,” Clarkson says. “Let me tell you this, though — it’s nowhere near that good. I love what we’ve done, but that’s a classic.” – Read more at USA Today

One Direction Visits Sesame Street!

Lea Michele Credits Stevie Nicks With Helping Her Through ‘Worst Year Of My Life’ – “I owe so much to [Sia]. I think we just click. It was beyond an honor to sing her songs,” Michele said. “To get to have the honor of her helping me to write ‘If You Say So’ [after Monteith died], no one else could have done that. I’m very thankful to her because, as hard as it is, I have that song and it means so much to me.” “You’re Mine,” which the “Glee” star described as “so special,” was both Monteith and Michele’s favorite song, and “it’s about committing yourself to someone for life.” She further explained that it’s the personal nature of the record that’s helping her to heal. “It has been, by far, in all honestly, the worst year of my life and I’m thankful that this [song 'Cannonball'] is out now to create some light and positivity and joy at the end of the year,” she said. “I think that somehow through all of that, this [song] came out and it is an incredible representation of who I am, what I feel and how I’d like to come out of the gate as an artist. And I don’t know how that happened in the midst of everything that went down, but it did.” – Read more at MTV

Not sure if this has been posted. This is a video where Jordin blames her label for her album delay.

  • No Thanks

Oh Jordan, sweetie, they ain’t never gonna put out your album. They’re stringing you along. You will NEVER be a priority for them. Just ask Adam.

  • tripp_ncwy

How is she going to put an album out on her own without label buy in/promotion?

  • curlyenta

  • curlyenta

Uhm, Jordin.. lol…. how does one put out an “album on my own” when you are signed to a label who refuses to release your album? Could the inevitable split be coming? Hmmm!?

  • Mel432

Can you release an album on your own when you are still with a label?

  • jobeob987

Exactly. Also, if they were even remotely inclined to release her album in the future, they’re probably not now. Something tells me Jordin already knew this and wanted to gauge their reaction or either bring this all to an end so she can move on.

  • tripp_ncwy

She also commented that she had an album already done which tells me she feels she has fulfilled her obligation to the label. Time to move on.

  • Sharon S.

This is exactly the sort of thing I was afraid would happen to Adam in the wake of “Trespassing”. There really are worse things than losing a major label deal. I hope things work out for Jordin, because she’s hella talented.

  • curlyenta

Yep agreed. I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if they actually dropped her. People don’t release albums on their own when signed to a label.

  • steve2013

This is what i fear is going to happen to candice :(. As her album seems to just keep getting postponed

  • ptebwwong

I would assume no. If your label knows that an artist is interested in releasing an album and the label has no plans to anytime soon, either they work it out or they are going to be dropped soon.

IMO if the label knows this I think Jordin is closer to being dropped than other options. A label does not want to hear that you are looking for other avenues/labels to sell music when you are still with a label (even if they’re not making much effort).

  • curlyenta

I think Glee was a good side project for Adam but it’s time for him to move on and be where he is best, and that’s on stage singing his heart out.

David Cook has a new bio posted on his web site. One interesting line was this one:

Cook has been self-producing the new material and enjoying every minute.

Apparently sneaky Kris had a photo shoot today for his new record in Nashville.

    Matthew Simmons @matthewgsimmons
That’s a wrap! Braved the cold today with @KrisAllen and got some very cool shots to promote his upcoming record.

ETA: He replied on twitter he will be posting BTS & maybe a sneak peak of the shoot “soon”.

  • Incipit

“David Cook has a new bio posted on his web site.”

I just came across that, wordnerdarchie, and I really enjoyed it. I loved what DC was saying about the approach to writing lyrics being a little different, and it was cool to get even more insight into what he was thinking with some of these new songs, especially “I’m Gonna Love You” and “Where Do We Go”. We already got the quirky Drone Program explanation for “Eyes On You” – DC still has the WTF quality. Heh.

The story behind self producing works for me, especially if we can get music like these five new songs without waiting to have them filtered through someone else’s POV. I like DC’s POV, that’s what originally made me a fan of his music, and a bigger fan of the revised concert tracks than the studio versions on the last two albums.

But I’m gonna have to go back and count again – the article says the forthcoming music is DC’s 11th album – I thought it was the 10th…hmmm.

  • justmefornow

Seems James has just been added to the 1st night, (Jan 3), of a 2 night gig for Kelly James at the Viper Room in LA. This brings the total now to 5 acoustic gigs together for them starting in Jan.

Also, James’ PR firm has updated his press bio adding a lengthy description of the new album CELEBRATE with interesting descriptions of some of the tracks and how they were created….

Love her voice – I thought she was robbed Season 8. Any idea how Elliott Yamin knows her? Is it some weird AI osmosis?

Interesting that “The Voice Network’s” two big holiday specials so far star Kelly and Carrie, isn’t it?

  • Bentley1530

The show is very amusing and she is really funny and sounds fantastic but who picked out these red dresses?

  • usedtobelucy

Sharon S., sorry that for some reason I can’t Reply …. I thought Alexis was robbed too. She and Elliott both performed in the Idols Live show in Branson, although not at the same time.

  • H.A.

She should try comedy. She’s a natural.

  • Incipit

Ahah. I see, wordnerdarchie – My ten would have a slightly different line-up – I didn’t count the unreleased 2007 album, but I did count the live Axium farewell album, from ’06, “Welcome to the Funeral” – and instead of the Limited Edition Blindsided, I was tempted to count the MWK album DC played bass and sang back up vox on, Incoherent With Desire To Move On…but I counted the live Cain’s Ballroom album from ’03 instead, since we have no tracks from 04′s Live at Fishbonz, nothing but the setlist and the line up.

I guess it could be counted several different ways – but DC is counting the next album as #11, so that works for me.

  • iluvai

I’m really enjoying Kelly Clarkson’s Christmas special. i admire her
for so many reasons. Good show.

Behind the Scenes pic from Kris’ photo shoot today.

  • Jason Gorny

Just saw this clip. it confirms that one republic, ne-yo, celine dion, and lady gaga will be performing as well as performances from the coaches. Christina and Jacquie will be doing We Remains.

  • Jason Gorny

I missed it since American Horror Story was on tonight… Will it be on iTunes or Hulu tomorrow?? And the special was good?

  • Jason Gorny

    Better than Carrie?

  • iluvai

I liked it. I thought Kelly sang well and the bits of humor were cute. Also it wasn’t too gooey for a Christmas show.

  • Jason Gorny

Saw that she got good reviews for her role on the crazy ones and that she is a front runner for best guest actress in a comedy series at the emmys!

  • Jason Gorny

    Can’t wait to see it!
