Don’t mean to split hairs, just can’t help dissecting the meaning of words. I don’t think of opinions as credible or not credible. They are just opinions, and therefore valid. Only facts can be credible or not credible. Or so my thinking goes.

I wasn’t trying to tell you how to feel, just defending myself against a charge (in my mind) that I was not a credible witness or source. I never said as a fact that Danny was this or that, I said that he comes across that way to some people. I clearly said that others see him as a warm and genuine guy. It cannot be said that how things appear to me is not credible. Only if I said it was a fact, could it be not credible. My feelings and impressions are credible, as are yours, as are everyone’s.

The thing is, I wasn’t trying to make you believe what I said, I didn’t expect or want you to feel the same way, I was saying how he appears and sounds to me. Either you believe that he really does come across that way to me, thus I made a credible statement, or you think I am fibbing, and I really don’t see him that way. So you are judging whether or not my words are credible.

I don’t mean to belabor it, but I love words and their meanings, and they really do mean different things to different people, thus we have dictionaries to try to help us understand each other.

These descriptions of how Danny comes across (not how he is necessarily, but how he comes across) have been expressed on this blog many times by many people, so this is indeed a credible description in many people’s minds.

It’s interesting that you say that oceana, that’s very illuminating to me about the different way that we look at the world. With no disrespect to you or anyone else on the blog intended, the fact that many people on the blog have said a particular thing is not especially weighty to me as I make up my own mind as to what is credible. If we all have the same set of facts in front of us, I might find other people’s assumptions about what they mean to be interesting if they’re expressed with some eloquence, but I will decide for myself what I think those facts represent, if I feel able to reach a conclusion about it. And I hope I always respect everyone else’s right to do so. But it doesn’t speak to credibility for me.

I was just re-reading the announcement for Kris’s BB King gig’ ¦. reopening the club at 11 PM, which means a start time of 11:30/Midnight’ ¦ 2:30AM/3:00 AM eastern’ ¦. my first true ‘test” ¦. I don’t think I can stay up and follow the tweets and still go to work the next day. Of course, there is always that ‘work from home’ chip that I can cash in. Or maybe take a nap and just wake up extra early?? It’s times like these that I wish the whole country was on one time zone. So what if it gets dark out at 3 PM

Yeah, good thing I’m on the West Coast. Of course, when Kris has a concert on the Easy Coast, I have to hurry to get home from work.

I have to go to work too on Dec 31, but really, do they really expect us to do real work ? I thought that we are there just to hold the place up while the OTHER people go to their vacation ?

How refreshing Carrie is! Glad she didn’t say Santa had left her a ring, but her fiance. Her attitude and perspective are definitely in the right place.

It is thought that David, who’s performing in Texas Thursday, will stay for the wedding. And it sounds from the tweets you posted earlier that Brooke will be attending also.

He’s getting better at communication in the age of the sound byte and that’s good, but arrogant/conceited/clueless are not attributes that I believe are credible descriptions of him.

The following Twitter exchange between Jackie Castro and Brooke White suggests that they and Archie (and perhaps Jason since he’s Jackie’s bro) will be reuniting some time in the near future. Does anyone know what they’re talking about?

You think his pre-Idol stuff is less ‘serious’ ? With all the bleeding and breaking and crawling?

I guess I didn’t put that well. Yes some serious themes, but to me, less angsty-sounding than some of the DCTR songs. Sounds more like Alt Rock to me. Some of my favorite songs are on AH. He gets criticized for singing ballads like LO and CBTM, while I think the earlier stuff is more current sounding than those two songs, and some of those AH songs could be alt rock radio hits today, imo (with a little cleaning up).

Cosigning all of this. And I’m also getting in line with the peeps who want to smack the “simplify your lyrics” advice giver upside the head. Sometimes Dave’s word usage cracks me up, but a lot of the times I find it kinda fascinating. I mean, musically urgent? What connotation of the word urgent is he going with there? Driving beat, faster tempo, something that grabs you by the hand and pulls you along with it as it races to the finish line? Anyway, the tongue in cheek thing sounds cool. I like snarky Dave and he doesn’t do that lyrically very often, so this should be fun.

ITA! Count me in as one who was excited by that hint that Cook might be powering up the verbal twists and turns–one of my favorite parts of his music!

there’s no denying that he sounds arrogant and conceited, or at least clueless, in many of his tweets and his interviews. He could learn some communication skills if he’s going to be in the public eye. Of course his fans and friends will cut him some slack, but the public won’t in general.

I am a fan, but I am certainly not a lovesick schoolgirl with no rational thought process left and I don’t think he sounds arrogant and conceited or clueless in his tweets and interviews. I’ve watched him in many dozens of interviews, some here, mostly elsewhere. I don’t see him as a master class orator, that’s not really his thing. But in fact, I think there is no denying that he engages interviewers, who would generally be likely to be not far off neutral to start, with warmth and sincerity, to quite apparent good effect. This is not particularly surprising considering all the reports we’ve seen from tour attendees who thought they hated him but came away gushing about how sweet he is once they talked to him. Great gig for Kris. That will be the first gig in solo for the band. Crossing my fingers for videos and looking forward to hearing a new song live. The last time he sang “Is it over”, it was amazing; he keeps getting better and better in my opinion.

I’m excited by the implied different direction musically, because that is exactly what he needs leading on from DCTR, more musical dynamism. But, IMO, the man has a poet’s soul and I absolutely curse whoever it was that told him to make things more simple, post -idol.

THANK YOU. Yes. Kiss on the Neck was a diamond in the rough for me and I think that seeing the tour response for that one probably gave him confidence that he could play hard, have fun and deliver crafty lyrics. We all sang along!!! Can’t wait to hear more. I love it all, but David and the Anthemic will be more cohesive and so much more fun with this next album. Fingers crossed!
