According to JoesPlace blog, Michael Castro, Jason Castro’s little brother, got a golden ticket from the judges during the Dallas Season 9 auditions this week. He advanced to Hollywood last year too, making it all the way to the last day of the round. We’ll see if he makes it further this year…

Season 6 Idol Chris Sligh just twittered: “1 of the biggest male country artists put my song “Wouldn’t Change a Thing” on hold! Follow up to Flatts? Here’s hoping!” Chris wrote a Top 10 country hit for Rascal Flatts, “Here Comes Goodbye”. You can listen to “Wouldn’t Change a Thing” on Chris’s MySpace page. Chris is on the verge of announcing a record deal with a major label…

Daughtry will be one of the guests on producer, Timbaland’s next album, Shock Value II according to this website. Other collaborators include: Estelle, Danjahandz, Keri Hilson, The Jonas Brothers, Hollywood Undead, Jim Beanz, Amar, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, Usher, Chris Brown, Missy Elliott, Drake, The Neptunes, Sebastian’ ¦.

Oprah protege, Charice announced on twitter that she recorded a duet with David Archuleta for his upcoming Christmas Album, Christmas from the Heart, due out this fall…

Carly Smithson and her new band, We Are the Fallen (made up of ex-Evanescence members) are busy writing, recording and getting ready to tour. Check out a short snip of the band performing an acoustic version of their first single, Bury Me Alive, HERE.   Carly twitters that the songs she was working on as a solo earlier will be incorporated into the band…

Is Carrie Underwood adding some beats to her next album? Engineer, Ann Mincieli recently twittered, “Working with Max Martin and Carrie Underwood in the Studio today!! Tracked Lap N Steel and Banjo!! I got the most UNIQUE Guitar TONES!!!” And R&B star, Ne-Yo twittered to a Carrie fan who asked “On a scale of 1-10, what’s the possibility of seeing your writing work on Carrie Underwood’s upcoming album?” He answered, “Just wrote for Carrie’s album so hopefully- 10.”

    WOW

So, Chris Sligh is the male Kara Dioguardi!

Just Kidding. Love Chris, really hope he gets a record deal and get really really rich with his music.

  • http://talkinaboutmovies.blogspot.com Brenoga

    One other thing:

listening to Chris’s music on his myspace I noticed this song Love is Strong Enough… If you add a little bit more of electric guitar to it you have a hit carrie underwood song. See, what I said: Male Kara.

Wow, cool for Chris! Seems like a nice collection of artists (boo…Chris Brown) and can’t wait to see what they do together!

  • davidlove

Charice and David are a good match. She’s 17 with a rich voice beyond her years, similar to David. She and David will blend beautifully, as well as market the song to the Philipinno audience who love both singers.

  • http://www.last.fm/user/RemusL/ RemusL

Brenoga, what does “male Kara Dioguardi” even mean? So far, you’ve identified the fact they both write songs for other people. That’s it.

Not sure why Charice is considered Oprah’s proteg. It was Ellen DeGeneres who first brought her over from the Philippines to sing in front of an American audience on tv, if that’s the criteria they going by.

  • leeaundra

I don’t even remember too many of season six contestants, but I do remember Chris Sligh and that I liked him a lot. He was unusual, but extremely talented.

  • Pidge

Here’s the thing – I love Jason Castro, and even sister Jackie…and I really wanted to like Michael, but it’s difficult…

  • Pidge

Charice has also been referred to as a David Foster find. I remember seeing her on Ellen.

  • fearbear

Wow Chris Sligh is doing quite well for himself, pretty amazing if he gets himself a major label gig because of his writing skills.

Daughtry on Shock Value 2? Interesting. Although I have no interest in purchasing the album since Chris Brown is going to be a part of it, I don’t wanna support anything that guy does in any way. Lots of Chrisses in this post, btw.

Eyuuuuck Charice, I’m a Filipina myself but I’m not a fan of hers. I hope she doesn’t try to outsing David, she has a bigger vocal range but David has the better voice quality IMO.

I am really weirded out by the Castro family for some reason, Jason is cool but his family seems overbearing, for a lack of a better word.

And I have no vested interest whatsoever in Carly or Carrie so I have no more comments, LOL.

  • carolinacharms

Wow! Great for David Archuleta. Charice is an amazing, amazing singer. If you haven’t heard her sing, check her on youtube. She blows the roof off the sucker.

  • E

Charice has an amazingly mature voice for her age, but she only has one volume, no subtlety. I guess she’s the best age wise. I wish Charlotte Church is still active, would have complimented Archie’s voice nicely.

  • babe

Here’s the thing – I love Jason Castro, and even sister Jackie’ ¦and I really wanted to like Michael, but it’s difficult’ ¦

Pidge you are not alone. I love Jason Castro too but Michael annoys me. I kinda liked him when I learned that he’s Jason’s brother but it’s totally different now. I don’t even like to see his face…lol…Sorry Jason, I adore you but I can’t force myself to like your bro!

  • brie200

I consider myself a big fan of Jason and I have no issue with his family, just in the sense that his sister seems sweet and if his parents raised a kid like Jason than they are doing something right IMO. They are close knit, that much is obvious. That said, I have zero desire for Michael to make Idol. I think he has talent and I don’t hate him, but I’m not a fan either. I still feel like he’s trying the Idol thing more to show up big bro and show than he can do it too more than it being about loving music. But that’s his deal I guess. I’m not sure Simon and co. have any intention of putting him through to the voting rounds anyway considering Michael comes in with a rather bit advantage fanbase wise.

  • Letitride

I’ve tried to be fair and mentally separate Michael Castro from Jason instead of comparing them.
But in listening to his music on myspace, I don’t find anything interesting about his voice or his style.

  • Studio57

For you Kris Allen fans- EW has an article on the “Hottie’s of 2009″ and I am sure it comes as no suprise that a certain pocket idol has made it onto Michael Slezak’s list.

Re: Chris Sligh. I knew there was something special about that guy, and I pretty much stopped watching that season after he got voted off. His pre-idol songs were superb. It’s so gratifying to see him do well.

Reading further into that Timbaland article- very interesting that he mentions he has synesthesia. No wonder he is so incredibly talented. Out of all the producers out there, he’s the one who impresses me most. Good on daughtry that they get to work with him.

  • amy123

Carly and the guys have told fans in online chats that they just signed with an indie label and are working on their upcoming album, which they expect to have out in early 2010. They still plan to tour later this year, but the tour dates may be delayed while they work on the album. Carly posted on Twitter about the album and they also posted some great twitpics of them working in the studio. You can check the pics out at twitter.com/wearethefallen. Here are her posts about the album :

Were gonna release a few songs first and then the whole album . Rocky and John are gonna be flying back from Arkansas next weekish

@LauraVazz@CarlySmithson when we gonna be able to hear all the CD? – prob just after the new year. Were working on writing it right now in LA

  • terps

Wow, Carrie has some heavy hitters writting for her. I don”t know how Max Martin will do with Country, but he is a Pop genius!

  • Vada

Thanks Studio57. Since Slezak’s list is in descending order, that means that Kris is the #2 hottie of the year on his list, behind only Ade from SYTYCD. Not baaaaaad!

  • JJ123

I always liked the Castro family….the little sister is adorable and Michael and Jason are very very different. In some ways Michael would be have both an advantage and disadvantage if he made the voting rounds. The diehard Jason fans love him of course so there’s that but it would only make up a small percentage of votes, the tricky part would to be convince the rest of America to not compare him to Jason and vote. One thing the boy is not is Jason 2.0.

As for the Daughtry/Timbaland thing…..as a huge fan I think it’s very cool that they’re a part of a highly anticipated record and the guest list is quite impressive. I’m also totally curious (and a little nervous) as to what kind of song it’s going to be.

  • revcat

Charice and Archie – all kinds of cute & will be a MEGA hit in the Philippines, that’s where she is from, right?

  • brie200

I’ve said this on some of the Jason sites, but I think what happens with MCas will depend greatly on what happens with Jason’s career. Jason has a major label deal and will have his first cd out before Hollywood week comes into play. Say Jason’s cd does really well with Atlantic’s promotion and he starts finding a broader audience outside of Idol? Are they really going to chance bringing Michael into the Top 24 who will have at that point more than just a pre-existing Castro fanbase? We’re sort of in uncharted Idol waters there. Has there ever been a situation like that?

Now if Jason tanks (hopefully not), the story might be different since Michael would only have the pre-existing Jason fans behind him and it wouldn’t be such a huge advantage. Plus of course not all Jason fans are behind Michael in the first place.

Major truth though to their personalities being night and day though. Even if Michael makes the show I have a feeling he’ll be one of those that pisses people off because he tends to be a tad opinionated (understatement) and he can come off as cocky.

  • windmills

I don’t think Carrie recorded the song she cowrote with NeYo. Check out what she told Brian Mansfield:

    http://content.usatoday.com/communities/idolchatter/post/2009/08/carrie-underwood-writing-with-ne-yo/1

“I had never met him before,” Carrie tells me. “He’s a very nice gentleman. It was really nice of him to just come and see what we could do.”

Carrie says they got a keeper out of the session, though she’s not sure it’ll be part of her forthcoming album, due Nov. 3.

“We came out with an awesome song,” Carrie says. “I’m not sure if it fits within the context of the rest of the album, but there is no doubt in my mind that somebody somewhere is going to record this song.”

Carrie’s also said she’s done recording so IMO that’s her nice way of saying the song won’t make her album.

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

Yay for Chris Sligh! He’s really doing well as a songwriter and I couldn’t be happier for him. When you talk about post-Idol success, I’d point to him any day.

As for Michael Castro, I have no opinion of him because I barely keep up with Jason, much less his family. That doesn’t mean I’m not a Jason fan… I’ll be buying his album when it comes out. If Michael is opinionated and cocky, he may just go through. Idol loves that.

  • carmine2008

I had feeling that the Charice/David duet is going to happen. They are both pretty popular here in the Philippines, so this is bound to be a hit here.

  • luvadamlambert

    Ade’s ugly.just sayin.okay not ugly but not hot either:p

I never liked.jason but liked mchael.but. Don’t wanna like anyone else.I don’t want my Adam love to fade:(

  • Little Boy Blue

What Charice lacks really is VOCAL SUBTLETY. She tends to depend on vocal bombast to impress the audience.

Doing is a duet is really going to be different and I hope she has matured enough to tone it down.

  • chrgi

Ade is hot what are you talking about? LOL. I was so crushed he didn’t make it into the finale. Although I didn’t vote once…but still, boo.

  • carmine2008

What Charice lacks really is VOCAL SUBTLETY. She tends to depend on vocal bombast to impress the audience.

I think its because that style of singing is what got her the attention in the first place. But I do believe she’s fully capable of subtlety, maybe she just doesn’t choose to showcase it often.

  • JudyOhio

But I do believe she’s fully capable of subtlety, maybe she just doesn’t choose to showcase it often.

Indeed. And I think DA and Charice are going to make one heck of a duet together. Some people are just born with special talent and ability and appear almost destined to rise to stardom. (Hopefully I haven’t overstated, lol)

  • megkat

Interesting about the Carrie collaboraters. She probably wants songs for Top 40 and Country

    Raining in Gokeyland
By Kathy Flanigan of the Journal Sentinel
    Aug. 27, 2009 2:03 p.m.

When American Idol winner Kris Allen tweets, everybody reads. The gazillion responses are the electronic equivalent of screaming.

All it took was the simple statement “Rainy day in gokeyland” as the idol and his tour mates, among them hometown guy Danny Gokey, contemplated what to do in rainy Milwaukee. The Season 8 American Idols perform at the Bradley Center tomorrow night.

Here’s the best of the return tweets so far, from someone asking about Milwaukee: “Is it just a huge theme park where you try on glasses?”

Have you got anything better? Just asking.

Re: David-Charice – I was coming in to say that “ooohh…some Pinoy Archie fans aren’t going to like that!” and then I see FB saying this…

Eyuuuuck Charice, I’m a Filipina myself but I’m not a fan of hers. I hope she doesn’t try to outsing David, she has a bigger vocal range but David has the better voice quality IMO.

    LOL (Hello, fearbear! :D )

Initially, I didn’t think Archie and Charice were a good match, either, but since I happen to like Charice (her voice once made me pay attention to the TV when she was still competing in a local kids’ singing competition and I have seen her live in concert a couple of times; she can be subtle, and she sounds lovely then), I am willing to give this duet a chance. :p

(I’m not too fond of the Michael Castro, either.)

  • RV65

^^^”What Charice lacks really is VOCAL SUBTLETY. She tends to depend on vocal bombast to impress the audience.”

WORD. Im not a fan of Charice’s singing style…I find it too loud and annoying…but Im very happy for her success!
