Since I live in New England, I was torn this year between them and the Red Sox - and that was no ordinary game because it was against those DAMN YANKEES!!! I had the Emmys on TV and the Sox on computer and to top it all off THEY LOST! I'm sure I wasn't the only one with this problem and that might have been something that contributed to the low ratings. Another one, I suspect, is that TV people don't know how to put on an awards show. This year's "theatre in the round" bombed big time and the only two things that made me laugh (other than some of the winners) was the opening song by the FAMILY GUY duo and the writers' into clips for the comedy shows -- those are a scream every year! Other than that, the baseball game was definitely more interesting. Hopefully, someone in TV land will get a clue and spend more time in putting together something that entertains as well as honors the best in TV. So far, they are striking out worse than the Sox. People aren't watching TV like they used to when it was the ONLY free entertainment. Plus Fox is not in every single city in the U.S., like CBS and ABC; correct? There are WAY too many awards shows on these days, and except for People's Choice, are voted on by industry insiders. I think today's youth (and the rest of us lol) are getting too jaded to care about awards given to Hollywood by Hollywood.
