According to Ellen’s website, David Cook will be on her show on Tuesday…???

  • Chicago-sally

Interesting that Syesha is only making ONE appearance. It seems that Ellen is picky about which AI appears on her show.

  • http://www.dancin.ca dancin

davidA doesnt seem to be scheduled on ellen either

as for syesha… didnt people say (and from past seasons doings) that going out 3rd you miss alot of the after media shows…. etc

when jason was out 4th people were saying maybe it was best cuz he will get the full round of media coverage and shows? whereas the number 3 is getting ready for the finale so doesnt have time to do all the shows

    DCITMFI :)

  • sammy

as for syeshaà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ didnt people say (and from past seasons doings) that going out 3rd you miss alot of the after media showsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦. etc

This happened to Elliott in Season 5. She mentioned it when he finally was on her show when he sang “Moving On”.

  • sammy

I seem to have quoted myself in error. dancin’s comment was supposed to be in quotes.

  • Chicago-sally

Okay, I am corrected. Thank god MJ loads up on the vids because I don’t have a recorder.

  • cooktard76

Can we defintely CONFIRM the Ellen appearance? Because I think it was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but its now been changed to Tuesday for whatever reason.

Also, does anyone know, if the LKL appearance tonight, will be live, or just a continuation from Friday? In other words, is MJohns gonna be there or not?!?!

  • cooktard76

And oooooooh, about TRL, that is good, imo. Much as I love and adore VH1, I dont want him to get entirely stuck on that channel and not get any MTV love! What time does that show air on the east coast?

  • aeroz21

cooktard76 – I think the Larry King appearance tonight is live, as far as I know they are taking phone calls from people.

Does the third-place finisher usually get so much press? I don’t seem to recall Melinda tagging along with Jordin and Blake, or even Elliott being lumped in with Taylor and Katharine. But then again, it could just be that my memory’s rusty. :) Good for Syesha that she’s getting the extra press, but it just seemed like a new development to me.

For all you lurkers in Japan:

Elliott is in Japan this week doing promo for his album which was just released there. Wait for You is currently #6 on the Japanese Billboard charts and he appears to be getting a lot of buzz there. I’m not even sure Japan gets American Idol so this is pretty cool.

The 3rd place finisher is usually overshadowed by the finalists as far as I remember. I don’t think Syesha is getting much press. Good for her if she is.

  • mar_4DC

For LKL on Friday when he was talking to MJ he I’m pretty positive he said he’ll see him in person for Mondays show, and TRL is on at 3:30 on the east coast.

  • http://www.idolicious.com Kat

The more I read about Cook, the more…well, I don’t want to say that he “excites” me — certainly not in that ZOMG! way that Taylor did when he won and his whole career was ahead of him — but I’m very eager to see where Cook’s career goes. He just seems like a very deserving winner. I just hope his album doesn’t suck :) and that BMG doesn’t immediately serve him Daughtry’s leftovers instead of just letting him be himself.

  • jpfan

I highly doubt Cook willl get Daughtry leftovers as Daughtry writes those pop hits you hear on the radio. Idol def has their most commercial male winner ever just in time after two subpar winners (for them). His sound will fit right in with what’s being played on HAC today. Plus unlike Taylor and Daughtry, Cookie doesn’t appear to be a diva. As the article said, he’ll be “highly manageable.”

That used to be a bad thing but now it’s a good one. :)

According to an etrainer, Cookie and Archie are on The Today Show now.

  • J.S.G.

As a Syesha fan, I’m happy with the limited exposure given that I
shudder every time she speaks into a live microphone.
She is supposed to be on the Mike and Juliet show May 30 at 9 a.m.

And I find David Cook to be a more cerebral version of Taylor, so how he handles this Idol title is going to be very interesting.

  • http://www.idolicious.com Kat

    Plus unlike Taylor and Daughtry, Cookie doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t appear to be a diva. As the article said, heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll be à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“highly manageable.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

If fighting for artistic control and creative input and fighting against being “poppified” are the hallmarks of being a “diva,” then I am disappointed that David Cook is not one. :) (Although if you are referring to a general sense of smugness and/or self-satisfaction with one’s talent…well, yeah, I’d agree with you. Despite his reputation early in the season, Cook definitely seems a lot more humble than the season five-ers you mentioned.) With Daughtry, I think it’s harder to measure because it really seems that the music that he wanted to do is exactly the music that the BMG execs wanted. Maybe the suits are counting on the same thing as Cook, and that’s where the “highly manageable” comment came from. I haven’t listened to Analog Heart, so I don’t know much about Cook’s non-Idol musical bent.

And I find David Cook to be a more cerebral version of Taylor, so how he handles this Idol title is going to be very interesting.

Interesting comment! Taylor’s definitely not stupid and seems to have decent business acumen, but you’re right — Cook definitely comes off as more “cerebral,” or at least seems to have more of a conscious desire to let his intelligence shine (nothing wrong with that; in the parallel universe where *I* am the American Idol, I’m the same way, LOL).

  • cheese

There’s a short video preview of David’s Ellen appearance on her site (he’s singing TKIW instead of Magic Rainbow). Looks like he’s definitely on Tuesday as the headlining guest.

  • GwendolynD

He’s singing “The World I Know”. Yay!

  • dante

Thank god for DVR’s since SYTYCD and LKL will be on at same time tonight!!!

I am gonna have to delete some of my saved Oprah’s with Dr Oz so I have room for all the Idol appearances this week. I do have my priorities…..esp when it comes to Cookie and Jason.

I rewatched the finale yesterday and enjoyed it even more (since I knew the outcome). Enjoyed seeing things I missed first time like Jason running after first group number when he thinks his hair is gonna light up and Ryan dancing with the SYTYCD dancers. But my favorite moment is still DC winning and hugging DA during while singlng magic rainbows.

    I’ll make the change for Ellen’s appearance…

  • gabam

I did not follow last year but during Season 5, Elliott started his media appearances about a week after the finale. He did a lot of media appearances but the third place finishers don’t get as many appearances as the others after elimination. Ellen will be on hiatus and some shows will be taking a break since sweeps month is over.

One reason I was not upset that Jason went out at #4 is that he got to do a lot of TV and other media appearances and a print interviews. I loved seeing him on Best Day Ever and Best Week Ever and other TV shows.

The Idols are up for an exciting week. Good for them. It’s nice seeing Brandon Rogers’ name on the list.

Thanks for the Elliott in Japan news, JPfan. It’s great that his (just released) music is doing so well there. He seemed so excited when he was there the first time. This time will be even better since he will get to do shows there over the next several days.

  • jenniewdc

Does anyone know if David Cook is scheduled to be on the Mike & Juliet Show and, if so, when?

    TIA

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

My DVR still has Cook’s Ellen appearance listed as happening on Wednesday. I wonder why the descriptions haven’t been changed, if he’s supposed to be on the show Tuesday?? *scratches head*

That’s a pretty nice press tour the top 3 get. I’m heading off to set the DVR now…

Fork, I must remember to record Today when I get home from school tomorrow. I was thinking of maybe skipping the first couple of periods of school on Thursday to go down and possibly see them there, but oh well.

I forgot all about mentioning this one. Michael sang the NA at the Cubs game tonight. Some said they heard a bit of it on TV and he sang it very well.
