An hour-long telethon carried on NBC and many other television stations raised funds for the Red Cross to benefit Hurricane Sandy victims.

    If you prefer not to give to the Red Cross, you can donate to organizations like the Salvation Army, the Food Bank for New York City, AmeriCares, or WorldVision. There are links here.

    But there are several stories of the RC providing basic food, rakes, and hygiene kits as well.
