Michael, married with two children, works as a roughneck on an oil rig, the 5th most dangerous job in the world he says. But donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t let that fool you. What he really wants to do is croon Boyz II Men tunes. He also plays piano, drums and guitar.

A likable guy, Michael advanced to the Top 12/13 via a wonky performance of Gavin DeGraw’s “I Don’t Wanna Be” and a little help from Simon Cowell who said he hoped America would give Michael a second chance.   They did.

Michael’s going to have to step it up if he hopes to stick around the competition for awhile.   He swears he’s not a country singer, but incorporating country into his performances could help set him apart from the pack.
