American Idol’s Ruben Studdard launching children’s show in Dothan Sunday – Think of Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood with much better singing. Former American Idol winner Ruben Studdard will launch a musical show directed toward children Sunday at the Dothan Opera House. The hour-long show begins at 3 p.m. The show is called “Uncle Ruben’s House” and will feature Ruben singing traditional children’s songs with his own spin as well as original creations designed to teach children manners and etiquette. – Read more at Dothan Eagle

Carrie Underwood Wants to Avoid Politics at the CMA Awards – “I prefer to stay away from politics,” Underwood told journalists at a recent press event (quote via the Boot). “This is country music, and we have 50 years to cover. So I feel like we’ll have lots to talk about, but I think it will be more geared to just us and what we do and all these legends that we have and people that have incredible talent that we have in our genre.” The 2016 CMA Awards will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on ABC on Nov. 2, and while Underwood wouldn’t give too much away, she promises some surprises in honor of the big year. – Read more at Taste of Country
