‘American Idol’ winner Fantasia Barrino promotes, cancels ‘All Lives Matter’ concert in Charlotte amid protests over police-shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott – The 32-year-old North Carolina native tweeted an invitation for fans to join her “for a peaceful protest” Sunday evening. She followed up the message with a poster for an “All Lives Matter” concert titled “Hear Me Now,” which she promoted as including performances from Anthony Hamilton, John P. Kee and Dennis Reed, at Romare Bearden Park. But less than two hours later, the singer deleted both tweets and posted a video saying Charlotte police told her she couldn’t hold her concert because of the Panthers game, less than a mile away from the park. – Read more at NY Daily News

Cassadee Pope Reflects on ‘Incredible’ CMA Awards Nomination – “It was extremely crazy because I’ve never been nominated before,” Pope told Sounds Like Nashville during a phone interview. “This is my first CMA nomination and I just remember Chris mentioning a while ago that it was a possibility and he had been speaking to some CMA board members and they all were like, ‘Yes, definitely looking good for you guys!’ But never in a million years did I think it would actually happen, so when it did, it was really surreal and it’s just a good feeling to be recognized for, you know, the hard work we put into this song and the fact that people are connecting with it. It’s incredible.” – Read more at Sounds Like Nashville
‘The Voice’ winner glad to performing in Ky – As a young boy, Harlan, Ky., native Jordan Smith drove with his parents to Louisville to see a concert by “The Blind Boys of Alabama” at the Brown Theatre. On Oct., 25, Smith returns to that same theatre, but this time, he’ll be the performer on stage. “It’s a crazy feeling,” Smith said. “I never would have imagined that I would be on a concert tour myself and singing at the Brown.” – Read more at the Courier-Journal
Carrie Underwood brings ‘Storyteller’ tour to Roanoke – In a 2010 show here, the high-heeled singer rode a pickup truck bed, suspended from the arena ceiling to pull her across the room. Three years later, she and some band members rode a “flying” stage shaped like hot air balloons. No air time is planned when Underwood brings her act back to Berglund on Monday. This time out, she’ll be on an “in the round” stage, looking to project 360 degrees, instead of peering downward. “There’s still some really cool moments, and our stage can do some pretty spectacular things,” Underwood said in a phone call last week. “But there’s no flying this time.” – Read more at Roanoke.com
Jake T. Austin’s ‘DWTS’ Blog: The Hardest Part About Saying Good-bye – This week tensions were much higher, because we knew there would inevitably be an elimination after the next dance. Jenna and I went into the studio and pushed. To be honest, I wasn’t originally thrilled about the song because, although “Go, Diego, Go!” was my first show, I’m not a kid anymore so I had some reservations. Ultimately, I decided to see it as a challenge that I would try to overcome. The rehearsals were really tough to go back to after hearing the critiques from the judges and getting our scores the week before, being more mindful of my feet than ever. via Extra
