HDD – Album Sales Prediction : Sep 19-25

With 54.98% of the market reporting in, Tony Bennett seems on track for his first number one album. This is his second duet album and features a duet with Carrie Underwood which appeared in the season premiere episode of “Blue Bloods” last week. There is also a duet with Amy Winehouse that has generated a lot of interest.

Not far behind, and looking to spoil the party, is last week’s number one album from Lady Antebellum. Adele, as usual is hanging out in the top 3 and Lil Wayne’s showing staying power at 4th. Usually, rap albums open pretty big and fade pretty fast. There was some criticism that “Tha Carter IV” wasn’t his best effort, but it seems buyers are happy with it. I’m also happy that an album with 4 in the title is 4th because I waited all summer for Beyonce’s “4” to do that (and I’m going to have a long wait before Adele’s 21 is 21st).

Demi Lovato has the second highest debut of the week with her “Unbroken” in 5th followed right after by Mindless Behavior’s debut of “#1 Girl” (no, #1 is an elderly gentlemen and his friends). George Strait, Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan bring the country representation up to 4 (there is that number again! – do you know 4 is bad luck in many countries and buildings don’t have a 4th floor. This post is courting death!) in the top 10 with the 7th, 8th and 10th spots. Meanwhile, Now 39 is 9th.

Kelly, of course has a duet with Jason Aldean on his album and Carrie has a duet with Brad Paisley on his album which is currently at 33rd. Both duets went to number one on Country. Jackie Evancho from AGT continues to chug out those sales at 24th.
