I must admit that it seems a little strange to see critically acclaimed Adele battling it out with an album of karaoke covers sung by random unknown kids, but that’s the music business for you. Making it even odder is that one of the songs they are covering is Adele’s rather mature song about a relationship gone bad. This is the 20th disk in the very popular series and they always seem to make it work for their customers. I must admit a little curiosity on what they did with some of the lines in “The Lazy Song”. And, couldn’t they have used the original versions of “Whip My Hair” and “Never Say Never” since those are already sung by bopping kidz? Anyway, good for them. With 51.61% of the market reporting, the Kidz are on top, but HDD predicts that Adele will be the eventual winner.

As with last week, Scotty and David are the only solo Idols in the HDD top 50 after the Monday updates. Scotty’s Walmart EP is currently at 21 while David Cook rounds out the report at 50th. Kelly continues to help Jason Aldean’s “My Kinda Party” stay in the top 5 at 4th. Carrie appears on two disks. Her duet with Brad assists his latest disk stay at 16 this week while she also has a track on “Now Country 4” which is at 25.

The Voice Judge, Blake Shelton topped the chart last week and looks to have a strong follow-up week currently in third. His “Best of CD” continues to sell well at 30th. Beyonce continues to spurn my needs to make “4” puns by never coming in 4th. Currently, she is at 5th. Sixth and Seventh spots are held by debuting disks by 3 Doors Down and DJ Khaled. Selena and her scene are in 8th, Nashville Star’s Chris Young is in 9th in his second week and Now 38 rounds out the top 10. AGT’s Jackie Evancho is at 15th.

The other big news is Amy Winehouse. She’s currently at 14th with 11, 762 albums sold. Considering stock would have been short on such a relatively old album and most of those sales would have occurred on the weekend, that’s very impressive.
