HDD – Album Sales Prediction – Dec 13-19

The fine folks at HDD wanted to give us an early Christmas present, so they released their final chart on Monday (or maybe they just drag it out the rest of the year for double the daily hits…whatever, we love them). There is already a healthy discussion about Crystal’s debut numbers here so let’s keep it there. This thread is for all other HDD numbers and daily numbers.

In the epic yearly battles between Taylor and SuBo, the Swifter takes this week by a nose. Both of them sold more albums than last week and in the 250K range, so they should both be happy. Speaking of epic, Epic has the number one debut this week with their new “Michael” album. That poor dude seems doomed to be used in the after-life as he was when he was alive. Christmas albums are always a big seller at this time of the year, and there are 3 such albums in the top 5. SuBo’s previously mentioned “The Gift”, her fellow GT runner-up Jackie at 4th and the Glee kids ringing in the season at 5th. Jive get’s a top 10 debut with a dusted off R. Kelly (6), Nicki continues to shake up the music world just as she does the world of couture (7), Kid Rock is free of iTunes and reality shows (8), Glee is gleeful to have two albums in the top 10 (9) and Diddy manages to debut in the top 10th spot.

Where are the Idols? The first shows up on Jason Aldean’s album at 18. Kelly Clarkson is helping to make this a CD a success with her well received duet with the man himself. Next up is the Daughtry /Adam duo on the Now 36 which is now at 21. Then comes our Season 9 chanteuse Crystal Bowersox who is our lone solo Idol this week in the top 50 with her debut at 31. Finally, Carrie Underwood has a song on the latest Now Christmas album which is in the 47th position.

This is the daily numbers thread. For all our snowbound European readers, may this keep you amused while you await that Last Train to Paris.
