With 47.18% of charts reporting in, thank goodness for Amazon fire sales. Otherwise, we’d probably be getting a number one album in the 35-40K range. Ugh. It’s March. Shouldn’t the music business start picking up? Come on, Adele! Release another album and get people thinking about buying music again.

Anyway, it all works out well for Bruno Mars. His album was featured at $1.99 on Amazon and he is well on his way to having his first number one on the BB200 chart. You may remember that after Gaga sold a million+ for her opening week when Amazon sold it for 99 cents, there was a hue and a cry and a rule change. Albums priced below $3.49 did not count…but that rule only applies to the album’s first 4 weeks. So, Bruno’s sales count (“Unorthodox Jukebox” is in its 11th week). He is predicted to sell between 85-95K.

Currently in second is the predicted top selling debut of the week – Hillsong United’s “Zion”. This is an Australian church band that travels the world and this is their third studio album. “Zion” is predicted to sell between 35-40K as are Mumford and Sons’ “Babel” (currently 3rd), Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’s “Heist” (currently 9th), and Atoms for Peace’s “Amok” (currently 13th). Atoms for Peace is an experimental rock and electronic band that features musicians from Radiohead, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Beck (and more!).

Rihanna is currently in 4th, the Pitch Perfect Soundtrack just keeps selling at 5th, fun. is just generating hit after hit is at 7th, Imagine Dragons (another group that got lifted to another plane of existence by Glee – fun. was too) is at 8th and BNA nominees Alabama Shakes are at 10th.

Carrie Underwood leads the charge of reality show contestants with her “Blown Away” at 24th. P^2 and Kelly Clarkson are at 35th and 36th respectively. One Direction closes out the set with their “Take Me Home” at 40th.

Contestants are also featured on compilation album. Now 45 (including Kelly, P^2 and One Direction) is at 6th, Grammy Nominees 2013 (including Kelly and Carly Rae) is at 12th and Now 44 (also including Kelly and Carly Rae) is at 41.
