ETA, that I just watched the video. Chris sounds good, but he looked REALLY cold. Also, I doubt that song with be used by AI as the goodbye song. It’s a bit too screamy.

And Happy New Year back atcha. Daughtry really does have a nice voice. Unfortunately (or not) I’ll never be a fan of that type of music. But I guess he does it well so good luck to him.

I also watched the Fox TV New Years show and thought it was very light on the performers/artists. More time spent with that twit of a moderator/MC.

WTF is up with whatshername — Toni Braxton: is she trying too hard to be sexy; can’t she carry a tune; what is up with the low tones — did she forget the words? Even the dancing was lame!

As far as DAUGHTRY — the New Years show was perfect for his performance — lots of young people and good energy out there. Just don’t know if it translated as well to the TV — but he belted it out so I’m sure he was happy to be there.

Well I’ll be damned, that short little bald headed guy did a fantastic job. I LIKE it!

This is why American Idol is great. I am convinced that America really does like good singers, and AI is the one who is delivering them. Just compare Chris and Toni. There is no comparison. Makes it really obvious that record producers aren’t looking for talent, just marketability (insert little Simpson joke here). At least AI produces people who can carry a tune.

I like it too Dingo. Chris sounded great! I’m still not a fan of that kind of music, but that should sell another truckload of records for him. But… the guys in the band looked like props to me. Maybe it was the weird camera angles but they looked like they were acting, not playing instruments.

Toni Braxton looked and sounded better this time than when she sang on American Idol. She didn’t look stoned anyway.

The hostest with the white fluffy coat and English accent was seriously inane. Good Lord she was annoying. And the top 5 bad moments of the year involved John Kerry’s slip of the tongue? Gosh, so much material to choose from and they choose that… because it’s home of FauxNews, I guess.

The English host – Cat- was so horrible she must be somebody’s girlfriend/daughter. :guns_tb: She Sucked. Chris was okay. I’m not a big fan of the song. But the whole thing was so lame, he was the best thing on it. Please Fox, get another host pronto.

DAUGHTRY was awesome!!!

And Chris was too cute with the “kicks” to New York New York.

Chris and the 4J’s seem to really get along well!!!

I only tuned in to the Fox new Year’s Eve thing to see Daughtry.

Yes, I watched movies last night instead but watched the clip of Chris. I think he is good his music something is not there yet for me. I know to be he iss a preformer singing softrock while there is an inner hard rocker wanting out. Maybe not just of fan I guess and he seems so rigid maybe needing a relaxer or something but I guess that is how some hard rockers sing. I guess hard rocker sing like that am I wrong?

Hey all. Had the Fox show minimized and we changed it over when Chris performed. Have to admit it… he is good. I can see his appeal. This is the first time I’ve seen him since Idol and he’s made the transition effortlessly it would seem. I thought it was funny how flirty that nitwit was with him. Like she really wanted him to kiss her or something. Taylor’s “people” missed the boat here, I think. He should have been on one of these shows.

Chris always from the moment of the top 12 seemed to fit into todays rock scene. I agree foxydonna I do like Taylor I wonder if he was even invited? (Maybe because of proforming tommorow he could not) Well at least his cd single is comming out and he is preforming at the Orange Bowl tomorrow. I knew he would not be the next top 40 pop anything though.

Meta, the song that’s supposed to be considered isn’t INO but Home. I’m guessing it would be the accoustic version but am not sure.

Chris did look cold but sounded great imo. I enjoyed the performance and it was hands down better than Toni Braxton. Apparently the host is from So you think you can dance which I’ve never seen. She was lame on this show. My beef about the show was it seemed to be a commercial for Fox and the bowl games. Worth it to see Chris, though. :wub_tb:

I agree, Chris looked cold but sounded pretty good! His eyeliner was a bit smeary by the time he got interviewed. I thought Cat Deely asking him about the formation of the band was a pretty boneheaded move. If you’re trying to promote DAUGHTRY, don’t point out that the band was put together by the record label after the album was produced, you know?

Did anyone else notice he’s trying to do less of the two-handed grip on the mic, so that the camera can get his face? I also thought that he was trying to show a greater range of facial expressions. I never had a problem with “the scowl”, but that was always a go-to criticism from early on, and I think he’s trying to respond to it.

I agree with your assessment. I did indeed notice that Chris wasn’t doing that 2 handed grip thing with the microphone as much that totally blocks his face. Also, he did have more facial expressions than previous performances. I think TPTB are trying to coach him to improve his performances.
