Happy New Year 2009!

Hey peeps, I just wanted to take a minute to wish you all a Happy New Year, and to thank you all for a great 2008.

Special thanks to Kirsten for all the great and hard work on her numbers posts. And thank you to PJ and Sarah for pitching in over the summer with the Idol tour coverage. And thanks to every single person who wrote re-caps, sent pictures, tips, and info. I couldn’t manage the blog without you.

Plus, a SUPER thank you to every single person who has contributed in the comments section. I say with confidence, that I have the liveliest, most literate comments section in Idol land. Hands down. You guys make me look good, and I thank you so much.

I’m so looking forward to the coming year. Season 8 is going to be a blast. I hope y’all come along for the ride.

    One thing for sure – you can expect dozens of more Idol albums and singles in 2009. That includes the debuts from the Season 8 folks, the awaited albums from others in Season 7, follow-up albums for already big Idols, the potential breakthrough albums for past Idols and also those more obscure albums from who just want to release something on their own.

    Happy New Year MJ, Kirsten and everybody else, I have learned so much about Idol this last year, my first year in the Idol world thanks to you guys… you are really awesome… here is hoping that this new season brings us funwith out a new obssesion… ahem… and lots of success for our favorites Idols…

    Happy New Years to you MJ and to everybody! I’ve watched all 7 seasons of Idol, but this past year was the first year that I’ve become totally obsessed with it. It’s the first time I’ve actively surfed the net to learn more about the idols. I started off lurking at Rickey’s which eventually lead me here because of all the linking they do to this site. Soon I realized that this place is the most stimulating place to roost. I’ve gained wisdom from reading the points of views of those whose faves are different from mine. You can’t get that from a one-idol fan site. The only downside to this blog is that it’s way too addicting. I need my life back! :laugh_tb:

    Thanks for the blog MJ, it feels like the only place that doesn’t die after the season is over.
    I’m sure if we had numbers for the blog, we’d see it growing (visits and comments) each year. Congrats for that.

    MJ a quote from SNL from way back” You Look Marvelous” SO New Years Eve watched no countdown show just Mark Twain awards which was given to Billy Crystall. That included Robin williams ,Whoopy extra and it had me in stitches..laughing.. (Seriously befuddled I do not see mwa included in thank peeps colum.)

    Now about the New Years Eve glad from the comments I missed the fox one and watching the DC preformance production quality was low and he did a good just his necklas kept me in a trance could not keep my eyes off it..Hmm maybe was waiting for him to snap his fingers. Honestly and no disrespect to any mjers not taken in as much to Daivd Cook . I know he will have a great carreer and also think it was a very smart move by his mangement /lable for a coledge tour even though he was not the first to do such.. Kelly P would do well on a show or hosting just keep her off the sidelines of a football game .

    Happy New Year, MJ, and thanks so much for staying so on top of everything Idol-related. Last night we lost power for about four hours, and I knew I didn’t need to panic because you’d have everything uploaded and ready to view first thing in the morning. And now I’m relieved I didn’t see that Fox NYE show “live.” (Although I’m majorly bummed I missed Ryan Secrest’s show.)

    Looking forward to spending season 8 with everybody! I was watching football last weekend on Fox and thought I caught somebody I knew on one of the AI commercials. I kept re-winding the broadcast to see if I’d lost my mind, and finally just googled her name and “american idol,” and naturally the search led me right to MJs. Turns out she’d been listed in the spoilers for quite some time, but her married name didn’t register for me. Looks like she doesn’t make it to the top 36, but if she’s in a commercial, I’m assuming we might get to see a little more of her.

    Happy New Year everyone, and especially MJ! Thanks for all your hard work – you do the dirty work so we don’t have to! I appreciate having all my Idol news all tidily displayed in one convenient location, LOL! You’ve become a daily addiction for me, and must confess that it’s probably because of you that I’m going to end up watching AI8 this year (you’ve piqued my curiosity!). Not only is this site easy on the eyes and easy to follow, but the conversations are always intelligent and stimulating!

If anyone doubts the dedication of our beloved blogmistress, MJ, I would remind them of the fact that she not only watched that hideous piece of crap known as “America’s Got Talent” but she gave us detailed recaps and posted videos so we didn’t have to miss the likes of Zooperstars. Now that is dedication.

    I am looking foward to Season 8 and curious to see whether the addition of the 4th judge and the wild card will really make the show any better. I am also looking forward to being able to chat and watch at the same time now that I have a laptop.

    Happy New Year to MJ and all fellow addicted readers!!! Every single time I come to my computer I check my email and then come here – love to read all the Idol news. Thanks for adding SYTYCD, DWTS etc and having the pools. It is so fun to have somewhere to come where I am not considered “crazy” since I like all these shows. I have finally learned to keep my mouth shut around work and friends as they just roll their eyes at my obsessions.

    I am looking forward to the Season 8 and to seeing DC and DA appear on the show (and maybe even Taylor – shock of shocks if it really happens).

    Thanks to MJ for all her hard work and to others too. I enjoy the videos, recaps, stats – not the fanwars so much.

    I’m waaaay late to the party. I was out of town and then had out of town guests! Still do, actually. However, I want to echo the sentiment put forth by all the other commenters and thank MJ for the wonderful job she does. Not only do I enjoy the lively and mostly respectful conversations, I also appreciate the hard work that goes into all the videos, pics, news and recaps.
