Last Saturday night (Feb 18) Haley Reinhart, Slash and Myles Kennedy performed an acoustic version of the Rolling Stones’ classic “Wild Horses” for the Keep Memory Alive “Power of Love” benefit gala to celebrate Muhammad Ali’s 70th birthday.

Highlights from this very special gala aired on ABC today, and included the trio’s moving performance. Watch it below.  Gorgeous lead vocals from Haley.  Watch it below.

Watched the whole 2 hour Ali BD celebration…it was so well done. The mix of boxers and boxing clips, musical artists and editing was excellent. Sugar Ray Leonard had a little tongue twisting struggles in introducing Slash, Myles & Haley. Their “Wild Horses” performance was so intriguing, it makes you want to hear more from these three. Props to Slash & Myles for including a relatively unknown Haley Reinhart…but it shows how other professional artists perceive her. As Beyonce said…she’s incredible! She definitely has a huge upside to her career.

Wow.  That was one amazing duet!  Very lovely.  Fantastic job Haley!  Thanks mj!

Haley’s individuality, creativity, great abilities/talent, sells herself without even trying, effortlessly the way she hits the notes. She’s not new to the business, but we are just now finding out about her. She’s new to us. Her ability to sing all types of music, all genres, so effortlessly going from solos to duets with various types of artists. She’s a rare find. We will hear much much more from this very talented artist. I’m glad that we have Idol to discover people like her and David Cook.

Ringo – Lizbeth, I have a theory that the reason that the judges acted so unimpressed was because they were told to because Blue placed Haley as a top country contender (not sweet little Lauren), and so, they kept harping on her to choose a genre, and they were hoping against hope that she wouldn’t pick country because it would’ve been bye-bye Lauren.

I agree, if you were in a room with some people who had never seen Haley perform, and you showed them her Idol audition alongside her Wild Horses performance, I’d bet they wouldn’t get the connection.

I watched the full 2 hour program last night at 10 PM on ESPN and it was really terrific but I’ve been an avid fan of Ali since his very first fight vs. Sonny Liston back in 1964; yeah, I go that far back!

I have to say that the performance of Wild Horses was one of the musical highlights of the entire evening.  Haley was just stunning in her vocals … she is definitely going to go far as long as she is handled/promoted/marketed properly.  She has all the makings of a real star because she’s got the vocal chops, stage presence, confidence and charm.

me4:  I really think only Randy had the issue with Haley’s Blue — Stephen like everything she did and J.Lo was mostly positive until Haley started to threaten her boys.  Ultimately, giving Randy the benefit of the doubt, I think that he was doing what a lot of people do, even here:  try to put Haley in a box, categorizing her as a certain type of singer.  Is she Adele?  Is she Amy W.?  Is she Leanne Rimes?  Is she Corinne Bailey Rae?  Because she has such control over her instrument and such a rich set of vocal tools to use, she can sing almost any genre well and that worries/bothers/annoys some people.  Frankly, Haley may never be pinned down to one genre or she may create a new genre all by herself a jazz/pop/funk fusion.  I am not going to worry; I’ll just sit back and enjoy.

I have come back to listen to this several times, each time I hear a new nuance to Haley´s voice. I am hoping for much success for her. And some collaborations with other great singers too. ** cough** Adam ( hint and hope ).

From what I understand, Slash is choosy about who he plays for. Not every singer gets Slash to back them up, on acoustic guitar no less.

And Haley could definitely do country!!!

If you think you hear nuance…try listening on a good set of earphones, it might just be me, but it sounded even richer and Haley’s vocal has more depth….

My last rock concert was a Slash, with Miles Kennedy on vocals, maybe a year and a half ago.  Miles really is very good live, and in an earlier era, he would have been a superstar.  Perhaps the same could be said of Haley. ;)

I’d really like to watch/hear the same line-up with only Haley on vocals. Both her and Myles have wonderful voices, but they honestly don’t mesh well, and more importantly, they sound too tentative in chorus because of it.
I think if Haley sang this alone, she would make it more powerful, more free, more – well, – wild;) As it is, it kinda lacked in this department IMO.

Haley was amazing.  I just wish that she sat between the guys.  Lol.  I also enjoyed listening to her comment why Ali is the Greatest fighter of all time.  She looked radiant and so happy on stage when all the stars came together to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Ali.   It took me awhile but I’ve finally become a HALEY fan. :)

You guys mentioned her audition which we only heard a snippet of.  While I’d agree that she’s grown significantly in the last year,  I’ve got to think her audition was a lot more than what you guys are looking at .

Here is a full perfomance of “oh darlin” from last week:

Oh no please! we already have our share of country contestants for season 10. Let it be soul/jazz/R&B/rock for Haley.

I agree though She could sing almost anything.

Beautiful! She is such a star, when she is the featured artist along Slash & Myles and ends up stealing the spotlight. Well, she is leading in vocals but just the fact speaks volumes of her, in stage presence and quality of her voice. In addition, she gets to sing Happy Birthday to Ali. I think she is representing extremely well for AI.
It’s getting exciting, all this Haley journey ever since a year ago has been fun. And her appareances still surprise me, I still can’t put together all her upcoming events are so diverse.
