Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Seeking Treatment For Substance Abuse

Two days after Billie Joe Armstrong freaked out on stage at the iHeartRadio festival, claiming that his set was cut short by Clear Channel, comes this message posted on the band’s official website:

Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances.

It appears that Billie Joe’s rant was fueled by alcohol rather than a desire to promote Green Day’s upcoming album.

    I’m not surprised – wasn’t one of their recent concerts cancelled due to “dehydration”, which is pretty much just Hollywood speak for the aftermath of a drug/alcohol binge? 

    Anyway, I wish him all the best and the much needed strength for his recovery. Addictions are a bitch.
