Well, I’m old too, and I think that’s a good line.

Why? No really, I’m curious. There are times when I want to have a good discussion with Taylor supporters… but I guess this isn’t really the place to do it. I feel like that little kid in The Emperor’s New Clothes where everyone’s ooohing and aaahhhing and I’m confuzzled as to why. Anyway, it really all boils down to mileages varying so… go, Taylor?

I’m not a Twilight fan, but I can think of Rob Pattz right now. On one of the morning shows before, fans were screaming “I love you!” and he asked: “Why?” That got him points with me right there.

Maybe I’m just getting old. Or feel old. ‘She’s cheer captain and I’m on the bleachers’ ’ ¦ makes me go huh.

See, I like Taylor. She seems like a sweet kid…and she has sold extremely well. It will be interesting to see how she develops. I mean, she can’t sing about being “cheer captain” or whatever forever. Right?

But I agree, she deserves all the other nominations that she’s got, she’s the best selling artist this year

Well, if sales was the criteria, then Cook for sure should have been nominated for BNA. He has the highest sales for any new artist this year. Oh well, I’m sure Cook is looking forward to next year.

Funny that I am aghast that rap and hiphop artists get so many nominations, while others are aghast about Taylor Swift.

Rap and hiphop may get nominted but they don’t clean up at awards shows the way other artists do. They win within their categories but not outside. I think the Black Eyed Peas may be the closest thing to hip hop that has done very well in many cagtegories and I think they more than deserve it. Not only do they have a very good and unique sound, but they have Fergie, who has more stage presence than 10 Taylor Swifts combined. People forget that while great lyrics may be important, there are a lot of genres of music that have their foundations in dance (or inspiring people to dance). That is just as important, IMO.

Personally I think there are a lot of rap artists that are far wittier when it comes to lyrics than Taylor Swift and deserve to be there just as much as everyone else. The generalizations about rap being substandard and only about killing cops etc is a broad generalization based on ignorance. The rap songs that do become immensely popular are very good. Some have very funny lyrics and some are just unbelievably catchy. And just like a lot of other top40 songs, some just plain suck but no more than any other genre. Interestingly when artists such as Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake or Kevin Rudolph want to revive their career…they frequently turn to peole like Timbaland or L’iL Wayne or Missy Elliot. I’m not a country fan at all, but I can appreciate the talent of artists such as Keith Urban or Carrie Underwood. Don’t see it in Taylor Swift. She’s more talented than the average teenager and I can understand her appeal to teens (sort of), but it’s almost a travesty for her to get awards over artists like Carrie and Beyonce.

ETA: I feel weird commenting without any mention of the Idols. Um, go Idols!

Yes she does deserve all her nominations EXCEPT for female vocalist. If she wins, that would be FOREVER unfair to the other nominees. Period. But I agree, she deserves all the other nominations that she’s got, she’s the best selling artist this year other than Michael Jackson. And You Belong With Me is brilliant.

For all you David Cook fans that are dissapointed’ ¦my heartfelt condolences. It sucks when your fav isn’t recognized for their obvious talents’ ¦.hopefully the New Year will bring good tidings to David and that he will have new opportunities with his second album. He has worked really hard this year to perform for his fans and to develop more of them. Good luck to you all in the future.

Hey, Adam managed to get a cameo while the Black Eyed Peas performed ‘I Got A Feeling’ at the nominations night!

Ha! I loved that for so many reasons. First – yes, I’m lame – but I really do love that song. And, Adam & Chris D both amused me there. But, most importantly, just happy to know that the imaginary 20 year love affair that LL Cool J and I have had only in my head is still going strong

cant wait for Gaga’s performance. her live performances are always provocative and very entertaining w/o resorting to overtly sexual.

im disappointment that DC did not get a nomination. but hopefully this will give him more inspiration for his next album. maybe next year he will catch the big ones.

Oh–and Keri Hilson will likely win the new artist award, but in that crowd, it’s pretty surprising that David Cook isn’t in there.

Could there be more categories? Jasmine Trias should release an album of traditional Hawaiian music–that should maximize the odds of getting nominated. (Some of these categories are so specific.)
