Glee Music From tonight’s episode:

More Glee:

GLEE OFF! Peeps!

Will senses the kids are getting a little complacent, so he and Emma cook up a sing-off competition between the boys and the girls.

The kids’ assignment is to arrange and perform a mashup to be performed in front of the judges (Will, and celebrity judge Emma) on separate days.

The girls figure they’ll whip the boys asses, so the chicks–except for Ms. Type A Rachel–decide to wing it.

What they don’t know, is the boys are “juicing” up, courtesy of Terri Schuester, who has, with only towel folding skillz to her credit, become the school nurse.

Terri is really working a 2nd job at William McKinley High to spy on her husband Will, a decision Terri made after Sue Sylvester paid her a little home visit.

Videos and more re-cap after the JUMP…

This week, the nasty coach of the cheerleaders, Sue Sylvester (the divine Jane Lynch) figures prominently in the plot and she’s as evil, scary and hilarous as ever. Watching Sue address her journal in the 2nd person is like watching Machiavelli concoct his evil plots.

Anyway, Sue has declared all-out war on Will Schuester, and her first order of business is to let Terri know that Emma, the guidance counselor has a thing for her husband.

Sue is also getting an inkling that something is up with Quinn (psst…she’s pregnant!) …

When a sleep-deprived Finn asks nurse Terri for advice, she plays Dr. Feelgood, turning him on to the hard stuff–over the counter nasal decongestant.

The uppers do the trick, and eventually the boys are all strung out on freaking Sudefed, to perform a very energetic mashup of Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life” and Usher’s “Confessions Pt 2″.

And can I say, Holy F, Artie (Kevin McHale) can flipping sang. And he wields a mean wheelchair. And there was some sick B-boy moves from Michael Chang (Harry Shum Jr.) WOW. Awesome stuff. The girls are freaked.

In the meantime, Quinn is ready to quit Glee, but Rachel takes the high road, talking her back into the fold. Yes, Quinn would have mocked her if the tables were turned, but did anybody see that self-satisfied smirk when Rachel walked away from Quinn? Yeah, Rachel is digging playing the moral superiority card…

Football coach, Ken and Terri team up to keep Emma and Will apart. Poor Ken is so infatuated with Emma, I begin to hope it works out for them, until I remember how completely icky his is. (“You’re pregnant,” Ken says to Terri, “And me with psoriasis and a testicle that won’t descend…”) Terri suggests he buy an engagement ring and propose to Emma.

Kurt, who instinctively headed over to be with the girls when Will split Glee into groups, goes all double agent, ratting out the boys’ secret weapon. Rachel is furious and tells Finn off (She lets him have it at least once an episode) But when Finn taunts her, Rachel’s competitive side cant take it and she and the girls drop by Terri’s office for a little pick-me-up. Except Quinn, of course, ’cause she’s preggers.

The result is the girls, dressed in sunshine yellow, perform a zany, ebullient, frenetic mash-up of “Halo” and “Walking on Sunshine”. A wild-eyed Rachel begins with an omg-puppies-and-rainbows speech. (Angels! We need angels!) and ends with a crazed yelp. Will, impressed, tells them to keep on doing whatever it is they’re doing. Well, maybe not..

Ken finally scrounges up the nerve to propose to Emma with a lovely cubic zirconia number. She doesn’t say yes until after Terri confronts her to warn her off her man! Emma tells Terri, icily, that Will deserves better. Ha! You go girl! But, realizing that Will will never leave the pregnant (so they all think) Terri, she decides to accept Ken’s proposal.

That is, she’ll marry Ken if she can keep her name, they live in different parts of town, and they keep the marriage a secret. So far, Germ-phobic Emma and Ken haven’t slept together yet. But I got a feeling she’d be all germs schmerms if she got the chance to hook up with Will…

Terri tells Will she accepted Ken’s proposal, and they part with long wistful looks that left me screaming at my TV, “Your wife is not pregnant! Dump that bitch now!”

Speaking of fake pregnancies, Quinn tells Terri she can have her baby. She wants to be a cheerleader AND a gleek. She’s not ready to raise a child. She wants her life back. The wheels begin to turn in Terri’s head. A fake pregnancy is one thing…but a fake delivery?

Finn confronts Rachel in the hall about her drug taking (Yeah, that twitching was hard to miss). They both realize that drugs are bad, real bad, and decide to withdraw from the competition.

But it’s too late, Principal Figgins figures out his school nurse is a drug pusher, and he fires her. Worse, he feels Will should have figured out his kids were high, and he assigns…wait for it…Sue Sylvester to help him co-direct Glee. Dun-dun-DUN!

Next week, Will and Sue go mano a mano. Who will be the victor? And, can Terri continue to fake her pregnancy? Will Finn find out that sperm don’t swim in chlorinated hot tubs? Tune in next week Wednesday to find out…

What did you think of tonight’s espisode? What were some of your favorite one liners?

HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT. That boys number was freakin’ incredible!

Kevin McHale can BLOW. And Harry Shum (Mike Cheng) can DANCE!

(I really want to see a dream sequence or SOMETHING, where Artie’s out of the wheelchair and gets to dance, though.)

  • Matt

Finn: I can’t stop thinking about Rachel. She’s kind of scary though. In a SwimFan kind of way.

And yes, Artie is the best guy singer on the show.

    LOVE the haiku. Love. it.

When I saw the boys number earlier this week I thought Finn was kinda manic – now I know why.

    It’s over-the-counter – it’s safe! I’m a nurse, you can trust me.

Must get rid of the awful wife–and I enjoyed her so much on Boston Public.

I thought this episode, while not full-on gleeful, had some of the best lines so far.

I’m with you, terps: Go Team Guidance Counselor Lady!

  • suebrody

The wife has GOT to go. ITA, terps. But Sue joins Glee next week. Krump-a-tude!!!

I didn’t really like this episode that much, but it had some awesome one-liners.

  • JJ123

I thought there were some pretty good moments in there but it was more like a set up for future episodes. Oh and gimme a break with the fake pregnancy thing, I mean how can a wife fake it that long with a prosthetic belly? My husband was at as many ultrasounds and doc appointments as possible, I just hate that storyline so I get annoyed easily haha.

Terri’s pregnancy is a lie, Quinn is pregnant with Puck’s baby but Finn thinks it’s his. Quinn wants to give the baby to Terri. From what the show has showed, Finn and Quinn have yet to have sex, only sperm in the hot tub ( which is how Finn thinks she got pregnant)

It focused to much on the adults, I would of liked to seen more of the kids practicing for the guys/girls competition. I also would of liked to hear more then 2 songs ( the mash ups count as 1 song in my eyes)

  • http://www.twitter.com/sarahruth3 Sarah

yeah, I agree, ravengirl. I LOVED this episode. I think I actually laughed out loud more times tonight than I have for any other episode. There were some awesome oneliners – so many, that I can’t decide which one is gonna be my quote of the week on facebook/twitter. The monologues by Sue (diary), Finn (when he’s playing the video) game, and even Rachel (workout regimine) were particularly funny to me. SO many awesome Sue quotes tonight. LOL.

I can’t wait to hear Kurt & Rachel sing “Defying Gravity” like they’re supposed to. That should be awesome. But yeah, they’re underusing Kurt, though it was nice to saw Artie get some spotlight tonight, too. :)

  • rockvixen

    Guys ftw.

    The girls were too ott.

I thought it was hilarious when the the drug mule for Terri got tackled by the Feds for buying over the counter drugs.

  • hypnoticwhisper

I loove Kevin’s voice. (Wheelchair character… sorry dont remember his name)

Kevin actually used to be in a boyband, NLT. they recently broke up this year so Kevin can commit to the show.

  • boredinschool

Im with you MJ. I screamed at my tv too. I also screamed at the TV when it looked like Emma was about to say yes. UGH

    Boys ftw!

  • leeaundra

Will’s wife is a sucking chest wound. How long before Ryan Murphy has her tossed down a long, steep staircase? Maybe an elevator shaft ala Rosalind Shays on L.A. Law?

    Btw, the boys rocked!

  • soverymel

Omigod, this ep had too many great one liners to count! I SOOO hope Sue’s conversation with her Journal continues, that was hilarious. I do think that this was more of a bridge episode as far plot momentum goes, basically a set up for next week. But with those two sudafed-fueled performances, I was fine with it.

Only one complaint. NEEDS MORE KURT!

Well, it looks like the Guys are winning. Their “It’s My Life/Confessions” is already up to 13 on iTunes this morning, but the Girls are not far behind at 15.

Here is the Behind the Scenes for “Vitamin D” (they do one of these for each episode. Not a lot of information in this one).

    Sue was awesome.

  • Grammie Kari

I thought it was hilarious when the the drug mule for Terri got tackled by the Feds for buying over the counter drugs.

He was sent to buy 36 packages. Last week I purchased one package and had to show my drivers license and sign for it. Kind of extreme.

I am going with the boys’ performance. The girls were more ORR.

The obvious question that needs to be answered. “How come you’re not having any morning sickness?” To be honest, I didn’t have any with my second and third baby. However, Terri’s lack of knowledge about pregnancy is so obvious.

  • Kirsten

He was sent to buy 36 packages. Last week I purchased one package and had to show my drivers license and sign for it. Kind of extreme.

Well, Terri “didn’t tell him to buy them all in one place.” LOL. She has no shame.

Besides, he doesn’t know how to count above 30 (which is why he was sent to deliver the “Thumb” cake). Poor Howard. I love him.

  • Allison

This episode was one of the most boring. Long and drawn out, and not enough Kurt.
How can Will not realize his wife has a fake belly? Is he not allowed to touch her now? Do they sleep in separate rooms (the craft room/nursery, perhaps?)
The Boys number was great, though.

  • http://www.twitter.com/halfie6 halfie

The obvious question that needs to be answered. ‘How come you’re not having any morning sickness?’

Will asked her that two episodes ago. She said something like, “oh you should have seen me two weeks ago — I was puking like a volcano”

My favorite quote from this week not already mentioned: “Bush baby eyes”

  • http://www.twitter.com/halfie6 halfie

Oh, and everyone should stop obsessing about how Will doesn’t know she’s pregnant. The show is not exactly straining itself for realism: Football team doing single ladies’ dance?

  • SparklesATL

Chris (Kurt) is a true breakout star. I watch for him during the group numbers and I love it when he makes his “fierce” face.

I did think of something disturbing this morning…

What happens next year?? Several of the students are seniors, like Fin. Will he be back? Or since the show is pretty much a fantasy anyway, will Sr. year just keep going on and on and on?

  • http://www.twitter.com/halfie6 halfie

Or since the show is pretty much a fantasy anyway, will Sr. year just keep going on and on and on?

I’d go with this as the most likely scenario. (Until the show needs goosed ratings and we can get a “Very Special Episode” of Glee goes to college).

  • Kirsten

What happens next year?? Several of the students are seniors, like Fin.

A lot of people think that he’s just a Junior. Quinn, when she was trying to get him to quit Glee said something about how they could rule the school for two years.

Kurt and Finn both drive, so they are both at least 16. Rachel has stated that she’s a sophomore.

In any event, the show isn’t high on reality. Maybe Will will fail Finn like the other school does that back-flipping dude in Vocal Adrenaline. Since Will framed and blackmailed Finn into joining Glee and based on the Global previews for next, I’d bet he’d have no problem working against Finn’s best interest if it was in his own.

A haiku in honor of Jane Lynch, The Goddess:

    Yet, I am Gleeful.

that’s great. You should put the Haiku where she’d see it. Does she have a twitter? Or maybe a the comment page for the show on fox?

I love this show. And that journal entry was the funniest thing. So bent. I read an interview with Jane Lynch (who is quite the improv Queen in real life–loosely scripted Christopher Guest films, etc) and she said that she never even feels the instinct to improvise because the writing is so great.

Oh, and everyone should stop obsessing about how Will doesn’t know she’s pregnant. The show is not exactly straining itself for realism: Football team doing single ladies’ dance?”

True enough! However, Terri’s “pregnancy” is beyond the pale. Will’s character seems slightly more intelligent than your average idiot and the fake pregnancy thing is totally off the charts. She and her whole schtick is the one thing about this show I REALLY dislike.

Other than that, this show is the complete break from reality that I hope for in campy television. The singing is better than good most weeks, Sue KILLS me every week, she is sooooo bad, and I find Emma quite endearing. Now, if we can just get Emma and Will totally losing their heads somewhere in a dark corner and allowing their pheromones to run wild, that would be awesome.

  • suebrody

I watch the show, honestly, b/c of Sue and Will (and the musical numbers). Am I the ONLY ONE who liked the girls’ number?

SUE FTW!!! (Oh, next week is going to be heeelarious, when Sue co-manages Glee w/ Will. Win/win.)

  • haruhi

Sue’s journal entry was priceless; Michael’s dance moves was wicked; Artie had an impressive moment to shine, singing while chair-dancing; and Terri’s reason for her flat-out refusal to shoulder Quinn’s vitamins and maternity clothes was hilariously disturbing.

However, I think the ep was draggy albeit the one-liners were in full-force.

  • holeighannie

I can’t wait to hear Kurt & Rachel sing ‘Defying Gravity’ like they’re supposed to. That should be awesome.

OMFG, are you serious? That will be my favorite moment of the season, I’m predicting it right now, haha.

I liked the episode quite a bit. I wish there had been more singing, but those group performances were stellar. The wife needs to GTFO, she’s not even funny most of the time. However, Emma and Will are LOVE, much like Betty and Henry in the first season of Ugly Betty, if anyone is familiar, haha. (Dear writers: don’t murder Glee like UB was!) I too hope we get more focus on the kids next week, all of their personalities are great.

One thing that’s been bugging the crap out of me: I like Tina as a character, although we haven’t seen much from her, but her stutter is TERRIBLE. I would have expected them to get her a coach or something by now. It’s especially obvious when you compare her acted stutter to Artie’s acted paralysis; he pulls that off so well.

  • Jx223

I enjoyed last night’s episode of Glee. I thought that the boys mashup was better than the girls. I enjoyed Artie’s singing and I loved Mike’s dancing during the boys performance.

  • Danielle

This episode wasn’t as good as last weeks (and didn’t have enough musical numbers), but it was pretty funny. I liked the boys’ mashup better than the girls’– the girls’ was just too fast.

  • annoula

“Remember, we’re dealing with children. They need to be terrified. It’s like mother’s milk to them.”

After I heard that, I didn’t need to watch the rest of the show; it was enough for me.

However, I did watch, of course. I loved when Emma stood up to Terri (it’s great that they make her character not so flat) and also when Will wasn’t a weakling (alliteration!) when Terri tried to make out with him in the faculty lounge.

What I can’t wrap my head around is the students’ ability to mix two songs, learn parts, and choreograph in so short of time. I mean, yes, we’re supposed to understand that they’re talented, but that much?

Oh wait, just thought of another line:

“My mom says I’m stretching myself too thin, so I gave up homework.”

Did anybody notice that the principal is the same actor as the father in Community?

  • http://myspace.com/susanatfox sumidol

What a super fun show, it just makes me smile!

  • CathyMK

I liked the girls mash up better, mainly because Halo usually puts me to sleep. Who knew it could be done with so much energy, and sound good? Artie is definitely the best singer of the boys, with Kurt a close second. I hope they both get more solos as time goes on.

  • chicksineggz
