Now that New Directions is no more, Glee moves the storyline permanently to New York City to follow the graduates as they make their dreams of stardom in the big city come true!

In next week’s “New New York,” Blaine (Darren Criss) has been accepted to NYADA where he’ll join his fiance Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Rachel (Lea Michele). What’s more, Blaine moves in with Kurt, as you can see from the photo still above. Don’t they look cozy singing in their jammies? Sam (Chord Overstreet) who is pursuing his dreams to be a male model moves in as well. And you know the cliche…Three is company!  Artie (Kevin McHale) adapts to the city as he studies film at a fictitious Brooklyn college. And Mercedes (Amber Riley) makes the Big Apple her home for awhile to work on her major label debut. Meanwhile, Rachel comes closer to big Broadway opening as the lead in Funny Girl.

Also, look out for the return of guest star, Adam Lambert, as Elliott “Starchild” Gilbert. Will his blossoming friendship with Kurt make Blaine uneasy? There was that selfie kiss from Trio, right? But when Kurt and Elliott dress up in leather and eyeliner to duet, that’s not going to help Blaine get over any jealous feelings he may be harboring…

Check out the extended summary for the episode, “New New York,” from FOX Studios:

Having left Lima following graduation, Blaine, Sam and Artie join Rachel and Kurt in New York. While Kurt and Blaine begin to settle into their newfound domestic bliss, Kurt grows increasingly frustrated by the omnipresence of couch-surfing Sam… but is Sam the sole cause of Kurt’s intensifying feelings of claustrophobia? Meanwhile, Sam has grown more and more discouraged by his lack of success since arriving in NYC. Blaine tries to boost his Lima bestie’s flagging spirits, inspiring Sam to re-attack his modeling career with a renewed sense of vigor. And Artie – who seems to have taken to the hustle and bustle of New York City like a fish to water – has his characteristic confidence shaken to the core when a mugger steals his laptop.

Back in New York following an out-of-town run of Funny Girl, Rachel is surprised by a luxurious ‘thank you’ gift from the show’s producers in the form of a private car and driver, at her disposal 24/7. While she first views the gift as something well deserved and a boon to be flaunted, she soon realizes her good fortune may come at a greater cost to her friendships, and to herself. And Blaine begins to worry about the blossoming friendship between Kurt and his bandmate Elliott, leading Blaine to confront “Starchild” about his intentions towards his fiancée, and forcing a decision about the future of Blaine and Kurt’s relationship.

How much do you want to bet that “Starchild” makes his exit when Queen offers him a job as their lead singer after seeing his Pamela Lansbury audition on YouTube (uploaded by Santana).

  • milwlovesadam

LOL. Or Gaga will want him to be Lord Gaga. ( That was such a bad old joke circa 2009-2010 ). After seeing him slay Marry The Night at his audition.

More likely Rachel will “reconcile” with her friends, leading her to move out of Elliot’s apartment, which Elliot said was too expensive, and friendships fade.

Especially when Journey is calling for a new front man, since in Glee world, they need a new singer. Or Heart saw film of Barracuda at NYADA.

  • lkingcorn

I don’t think there will be any Queen/Starchild reveal in this episode as there was a delay in even knowing they would tour with Dr. Bri’s cancer scare. I have a feeling Adam will just disappear like others into the void that Glee guests disappear into. I also don’t think we will see much of Adam in this episode. We were spoiled with the trio episode, but then again Glee can put more story’s into an hour than anyone.

I liked it when they visited New New York on Doctor Who. Can David Tennant film a cameo? It’s not too late to just drop it in is it?

Jammies! I like the matching purple ones better, but still, jammies! I suspect Elliott gets a little too cozy with Kurt and Blaine points it out to him. At which point Elliott realizes it’s true and decides he needs to get out of Kurt’s life. The synopsis says Blaine and Sam are in the loft, but what about Artie? Does he live there too or in a dorm? And is it now present day or still last year? If it’s present day then the newbies are all seniors and will be graduating soon and they can move to New York too. M.J., these are all burning questions that must be answered. Go get another screener and let us know.

That second large picture with Blaine and Sam in the loft is actually from the NEXT episode, 5×15 (“Bash”).

According to the Amazon listing for the episode, Adam also sings on the “Don’t sleep on the subway” song.

Nope. That’s an error. Lea and Kevin taped the performance in New York City a few weekends ago. It’s a duet between the two of them.

  • mjsbigblog

You’re right. They had the photo listed twice at FOX Flash. Once for Bash and another for “New York New York”. There is probably another photo that goes with that caption.

I’ll take it down. Don’t worry! I’ll post it again later.

  • mjsbigblog

FOX has been so stingy with screeners this year for us lowly bloggers. We’ll see, but I’m not holding my breath!

  • Corrine43180

    Ok thanks!

  • iluvai

Adam is a warrior. He is one of MANY who has paved the way for equality for all. I love him on this show. :)

Perhaps Rachel, who is now earning a leading lady salary on Broadway, will take over the lease while Elliott is away doing his thing, whatever it is. (This would mean that the apartment was really built for Rachel all along LOL!)

  • Not fit to print

Possible scenario: Blaine and Kurt have trouble adjusting to the daily tensions of living together and decide that it is too much, too soon. Kurt moves in to Elliott’s apartment with Rachel. Sam and Blaine take over Kurt and Rachel’s apartment and Artie joins them.

Klainers might not like it but the wider the gap between them at the beginning of the season, the broader and bigger the narrative will be towards the inevitable wedding. Let’s face it, domesticity is boring.

  • Not fit to print

I don’t either. Having Elliott win a spot on American Idol would be hilarious, though.

    Very sweet ….

@adamlambert Your upcoming episode is pretty fantastic! We miss you! Come back, got it?! #JOAQUINthegleeDP
