TMZ had reported that Naya Rivera was fired from Glee after an incident with Lea Michele earlier this month on the set of Glee. Now, reliable spoilers are reporting that Naya will NOT appear in the final episode of Season 5, titled “The Rachel Berry Project” airing May 13.
Naya WAS part of the script. Producer Brad Falchuk, even spilled, right before the incident, that Santana, the character she plays, was set to sing with Mercedes (Amber Riley) and Brittany (Heather Morris). But now she won’t appear at all according to FYeahGlee. Gleek Out Brasil is also reporting that Naya was completely written out of episode 2o.
Naya hasn’t been seen on set since the night of the incident, April 15. The incident happened when Lea returned to the set after the “Tested” Glee Along twitter party, which she, Darren Criss, Chord Overstreet and Ryan Murphy participated in.
My sources say, as TMZ reported, that Naya WAS fired from the show in the aftermath.
She was not planning to return to Glee for season 6, but it would have been nice to send off Santana with a heartfelt goodbye at the end of the season. She was an integral part of the show. I’ll miss her.
Neither Naya or FOX have spoken publicly on the reports. When they do, I would not be surprised if they spun it into something other than Naya being fired. But we’ll see.
